Level syncing down in a certain expert

Can we stop with this? 2 out of the 3 experts don't sync you. I get the endgame in ShB was rushed, so it might just be an oversight that they use the same coding from the main story to sync everyone in the party to 440.

The game is already losing its RPG mechanics. There's almost nowhere to use endgame gear right now, and nothing sucks more than a 1 out of 3 chance the character progression you worked for completely evaporates when you go after your phantasmagoria that day. Because the roulette didn't give you Twinning or Academia.

It's fine if its within the main story, but if its in the expert roulette it really should be playing by the same rules as the other two in the roulette and no have a special condition to it. It already feels like it doesn't belong and it's just there because the end game is rushed and there aren't enough expert dungeons to begin with.

Didn't ARF and Ala Mhigo do the same? It's because they are MSQ dungeons, even if they are in Expert Roulette. Going by the usual formula, it won't be in Expert after 5.1, anyway.

Same thing with Stormblood, Ala Mhigo (an MSQ duty) was part of the Expert roulette because there was no where else it could go until the level 70 Roulette was added (patch 4.1?). Nothing was rushed to endgame so not sure where that idea is coming from....

to be fair it is with comparison to SB considering SB end dungeon at least had some armor while ShB is only accs

It's only Accs because you get armour of the same ilvl for free just before.

of course but Sb also gave you armor that was perfectly fine for the duties at the end of SB

Interesting about Ala Mhigo doing it too. I don't remember having that issue in SB but it was probably because I didn't raid Deltascape so I never encountered the problem of Ala Mhigo actually becoming more of a nuisance in the DF. I never hit the plateau where the actual experts became easier with savage gear in the first tier of SB.

I really don't think it's intentional either. Really seems more like an oversight that's never been addressed because it's not that big of a deal. Just kind of wanted to point it out because a lot of these loss of RPG mechanics come at a rate of many minuscule things adding up over long periods of time that gut the sense of character growth. It's not huge to not be able to use your gear at all 1 out of 3 days in expert roulette, but it does add up over time.

It IS a little peculiar though that the day you get the regular story dungeon is the day you have the hardest time of the three possible dungeons due to scaling and the 440 sync. Unless they put people who queue for the expert in the regular 80 queue for it? I've never seen a first time bonus to know if that's true, I just assumed everyone who was in the expert roulette already had it cleared so there was no need at all for the story 440 sync.

Honestly with how aggro works now, the ilv sync in Amaurot is kinda asinine. A lv70 DPS can't keep off of a lv60 tank in my experience; an i470 DPS surely won't challenge an i430 tank.

It is absolutely fine that the story dungeons are synced down.
Give the "new" player a challange and let them do mechanics.
Otherwise they will just see another easy dungeon without penalty or hard mechanics because everything get out damaged and skipped.

Casuals have it already easy enough.

They sync the final expansion dungeons like this so that they don’t become repeats of Castrum Meridianum and Praetorium: complete and utter facerolls. Aetherochemical Research Facility and Ala Mhigo both have this sync as well.

Yeah, but then it became more or less useless the minute you got any Veracity tomes, which didn’t take that long. I can see why they removed it.

Problem is that is the final MSQ dungeon with many new players going on and could be possibly matched with those at 450-470 IL.

You only need to take a look at Tales from the Duty Finder to know that people actually don't pick up their AF gear and run in rocking lvl 79 (if not even less) gear more then you would expect.

In a scenario where a tank is around 418 (in forgiven gear) and a dps (let's say BLM) is at 470 they'll be ripping aggro off much easier then the tank can keep up. It would make for an awful experience of aggro trying to pingpong around and would just be a bad run as a whole.
