Trusts in older content

I tanked a Doma Castle leveling roulette today, and the dps were constantly pulling ahead of me wanting bigger pulls even though I wasn't comfortable with it due to not having tanked it before. This got me thinking about how nice it would be to have npc partners to run dungeons with during the 51-70 "dead zone" between squadrons and trusts. Sure npcs may be slower but the upside of being able to go at your own pace is great; no dps asking you to pull more, no one yelling at you to dps when you're focused on healing, no one using 3rd party programs to check your dps on classes you're not as used to playing. As SE addressed this anywhere? Should we expect trusts for older content in the future?

It would be fantastic, I am very dungeon-shy as it is, and I wish I could learn those 50-70 dungeons without stress!

They have talked in general terms of possibly expanding the Trust system in the future, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I mean, look how long it took for them to truncate ARR MSQ (which will happen in 5.3). There was years and years of clamoring for that, and it's finally happening in the third expansion. Why do I bring that up? Just to demonstrate how reluctant development teams are to make retrofits to old content.

It’s not a mater of them being reluctant it’s about them wanting to devote the bulk of their resources towards creating new content while working on stuff like this on the side.

By wanting to devote the bulk of their resources to new content, that means they're reluctant to do anything to old content. I mean, that's just what words mean, man.

They are adding the new 80 dungoen in 5.1. I wouldn't be surprised to see them add some more. Now whether or not it's the two 80's that are missing at the moment of perhaps some others we'll have to wait and see. I suspect trusts will be something they will in fact devote resources too. We should know more with the next live letter or certainly with the 5.1 patch notes.

They should have some pretty good numbers on how trusts were utilized at this point. Personally I've been using them quite a bit with taking my alts through story (did all the leveling dungeons with them) and leveling trust members on my main with 3 at 80 and 3 at 76 atm.

Or its not that much work going forward with new dungeons because new content is designed with trusts in mind. I am not disagreeing. Just saying that we should never see a non trust dungeon going forward just might not happen going backwards.

Will we never get out of this excuse. Not blaming you. How much money and how many years does it take to hire/train new staff? Wouldn't side content like this be good for new staff, players don't expect it anytime soon. After they got one done they could be added when ready. The only drawback is if they add new trusts that have to be worked into every dungeon. That could be a nightmare its not like 11s trusts or even GC squads have to do any mechanics.

I have a feeling the squadron system will get expanded to lv70 content then it's trust from now on.

I think they should. I love the squadron dungeons especially when leveling alts, getting gear, learning the job's rotation, & taken care of those old dungeons that you have do in WT. Improve their AI like the Trust but keep their ability to AoE mobs down. A lot of good dungeons between 61 - 70 dungeons I would love seeing the squadrons go through.

Pretty hard if the apparent fight to even get server upgrades a few years ago was anything to go by. After a certain point I think it's less what the FF14 team wants and more what SE at large will allow them to do, since we already know profits from FF14 are also funneled into other projects.

If thye can I'd love for trusts to eventually make it down to lower content. I'll never use them but hey, can't hurt.

One issue is which NPCs would be available lore-wise for a given dungeon. Just to throw out an example, Bardam's Mettle. While they could easily have Hien or Gosetsu fill the tank role, and Lyse as DPS, you have no healers available. Y'shtola is back in Eorzea and the twins are busy with the Doman Resistance. (I mean, we're also ignoring that Bardam's Mettle is supposed to be done alone by Xaela tradition, but the game quietly ignores that anyway.)
