Where am I supposed to show off and see new mounts now?

As far as I remember, the best towns for showing off mounts were:
ARR: Mor Dhona
HW: Idylshire
SB: Rhalgar's Reach
SHB: .... ?
It always used to be town with current tomestone gear, but now for some reason we can't use mounts in Eulmore? Why?

Because too many people sit on their mounts and block key areas with their bulk. Now we have one fewer way to troll. I'm quite happy about it.

Yeah its one of those "you reap what you sown" cases... imo its sad but well, cant be helped.

It seems every map is either mount allowed or not allowed. Have they yet figured out how to create dismount zones within a map?

I personally prefer it. Kinda annoying when npcs won't load because people are surrounding them either with their companions and minions out. Or just with an oversized mount.

They had 'no jump' zones for the Moonfire Faire so I can't imagine a dismount zone would be too hard to program.

Eulmore is an area for the wealthy elite only,No pets allowed.

To be fair.

Nobody cares about your show-off mounts. They only block npc's and cause the server to load for more time than necessary.

Eulmore is nice and compact not to mention Feo Ul retainer. Rhalgr reach you had for miles to do gatherer stuff or bells or to take stuff with tomestone.

Eulmore would look ridiculous with mounted people running around @.@; I'm happy they went with the decision to block them in the two cities.

I will miss the Behemoth follow chains on Behemoth though. There was once a self sustaining behemoth follow chain around Idyllshire back in HW. Caused some lagging, but it was fun :)

You mean they had a no mount zone. If you were using a mount and entered that zone during Moonfire Faire, you would automatically dismount.

Eulmore's entire society is based on bringing in pets from the slum.

As an aside I wish Eulmore was a mount zone because back when they announced the place during the Fan Fest and they showed it off using the "flying camera" it looked like a really cool place to be able to fly. I would have also liked to be able to jump from the top floor all the way down to the slums like the madman I am, but... /shrug

oh yes, now I remember. That was so a month ago, or was it 2? As I recall there was a weird glow on the ground. I think that glow needs to go, but they could allow mounts in cities if they just make certain areas dismount you.

Even if mounts were allowed, it would most likely be a "no-fly zone" like Idyllshire and the Reach. They'd probably have to put a lot more work into the exterior if people were able to fly around it.

Eulmore wouldn't make sense as a mount zone. Lore aside, it's just too small to bother.

Now, the Crystarium has more than enough open space for it. But I can still do without. The aethernet is just fine.

I see many player flexing their new mounts on frontline and rival wings as well as when doing hunt train

but apparently this is not what this thread asking for ?

Idk why. however, the lack of mount-showing-off-ability in eulmore means we have to diversify our efforts and be more vigilant in our mount boasting. For me, this usually means I'll afk in Arm Areang instead of Eulmore (I like the music more) or Rak'tika. I also make sure to show off my mount when going after hunts to maximize potential brag rights. its an exhausting endeavor, but someone has to do it.

I just think it's sad that not we didn't even get any new jump puzzles in new cities, but got more restrictions instead. While I can agree that mount ban in Eulmore is somewhat justified, it's beyond me why it's the case with Crystarium too, seeing how wast and spacious this city is.

Well yeah, there is enough space in Crystarium to justify mounts, but it would set a bad precedence for other cites :x I don't want to see mounts in Limsa or Gridania...

By the way mounting wasn't always available in Idyllshire, they added it in patch 3.1. So maybe it was never intendet that we can mount in the endgame hubs, but they gave in because we were used to show off our mounts in Revenant's Toll? >.>

Ideally, and i know this wont happen, I would want all of Eulmore to be 1 location, slums and all. With mounts and flying. However, the INSIDE of the Eulmore would have mounts restricted like we've seen in other locations. That way, we could AFK on our flying mounts outside of the tome vendors or near the ground in the slums.

I hate that the 2 areas of Eulmore are segmented as I have 0 reason to go to the bottom floor. Would really like to fly around the Eulmore area.

I show them off in front of our FC house because those people may be the only ones who may actually care about my happy "Hey, look what I've got!" shouts of joy (and lately I also began posting about it in my lodestone-blog). Other options for 'showing off' are hunting trains or frontlines but honestly noone will be in awe unless it is a brand new savage/ex/hard-to-get-mount in their first weeks. For example, with Eden-Savage already going into the 8th week I've seen enough people with Skyslipper-Mounts so I just don't care anymore when I see one.

If you really want some attention I would suggest a low level area like Mor Dhona / Revenant's Toll, because new players may still be interested in knowing how to get it. I got there a few whispers myself about my 'Magicked Bed' and the 'Kamuy of the Nine Tails' I was riding when I was there the last times.

Not to be rude or anything but I really can't say that I care that much
to see your mounts, especially if it's causing others to lag up a storm
for other players.

the only time i've ever noticed lag or obstruction is during events or Day 1 of new content. After that, the mounts in Rhalgrs never posed a problem, personally.

Organize a linkshell for it...

Truth is, most of us find the mount sitters annoying. So of you stick to a linkshell and hang out together you can all go to some spot where it’s just you showing off for each other.

Fun fact: There is indeed a dismount zone in one of Kholusia. if you are a lalafell and you try to going into the Dwarf only house in Tomra, you are forced to dismount then you can enter and you get a debuff that blocks you from mounting.

Well to be fair we don't care about show-off mounts. If you really want some show off... just do as people do in real world (at least how educated people do) : with people who are interested, organize you own show in a far place where nobody will be bothered. Most of time these damn show-off are just an annoyance with people jumping brainlessly and making problems for people who wants to quietly access to npcs. The bothering is enough durings events when people come with mounts and pets and stick to npcs. Same goes for "pets" show-off at bells. We don't care about pets, we just want to access to this bloody bell.

Press X and click on the bell without any interference.

I too enjoy standing with my whale mount infront of the tome-vendors making it impossible for people to buy stuff past my huge and majestic mount.

I dislike people showing off their mounts especially the whisper go ghost one since I can never get it due to starting the game late. Not mention that event is old yet the mount not on mogstation so yea it'll never be available for new players.

Or a Fellowship of Mounts. Anyone can freely join. Randomly rotate through different themes like "primal mounts" or "achievement mounts" or "color chocobos" etc. each weekend for each of the mountable main hubs. People interested in either seeing or showing can join the Fellowship and get the announcements easily. No other effort needed.

Fellowships are perfect for this. No need to manage another chat channel.

Reminds me of the people in Wow who would use the mammoth mount with a potion of gigantic growth AND the toy that made you turn into a Tauran.... and park your now huge arse on the nearest mailbox/bank NPC.

Nah Feo Ul as the retainer is annoying. Id much rather see the characters I put time into making and leveling.

It's not only to show off your mounts, but to see other mounts too. Wouldn't you like to see how the newest mounts from mog station/savage raid/ex trial/achievement looks in game? That's what this topic is about.
