Inventory space

So i hear that when rooms come out that our inventory will be cut down to 100 slots? Can someone show me where SE has said thisi would like to know if this is true. Cause if it is i wanna beg to keep it at 200 and add whatever inventory the Rooms will be. I plan to be very versatile and that will require a ton of space for all the gear that i wont have to run back and for from a mog house to switch from a Caster to a DD or to a Tank. But actually I would be ok with it if SE made it like Mog Lockers and satchels in 11 that you can access anywhere anytime then id be happy.

Please SE i beg you let us keep the 200 Slots it was a nightmare in 11 to have more than 6 jobs to run back and forth. Especially if you had red mage leveled and had heal, enhancing, enfeebling, nuking, kiting, resting, idle, dark magic, and every god damn HQ elemental staff gear taking up 87/90 slots.

or make inventory that goes in rooms accessible outside rooms then thatll be fine.

sometimes SE makes my head hurt. Then i realize i make my head hurt just as well by putting up with it lol.

I don't understand why they want to decrease inventory space.

I'm still hoping for gear bags, like a mini inventory for each class that holds it's armor, etc.

I'm happy they are lowering it!

We'll probably have the same amount total but not on our actual characters. With stuff like storage options/mannequins and the like my guess is it will just be relocated.

In 1.22 you can store stuff in your room such as AF.

I think once they sort out inventory stacking and we get a grid menu, and if gear didnt use up slots, it would be so much better

it doesn't make much sense how the armoury system lets you change to any class if they are limiting the inventory in a manner that you have to return to your mog house to pick up gear...

One of the Podcast I listened to went over an interview Yoshi gave (forget where) and it was mentioned that we have backpacks or what not in the future, as well as some form of mannequin system, in which we can have (for example only) 6 full sets of gear preset together (whm build/blm build/bard build etc.) for various jobs. That sysyem is supposed to streamlin gear space as well.

Don't forget incomming stackable materia will help reduce inventory congestion issues

I'd like to give you a couple of quick details about the planned storage system for 1.22.

First of all the system will be free of charge! No need to spend your hard-earned gil on storage your items. Also, it will be possible to store individual pieces of your AF, not just a full set.

We are looking into the storage of seasonal event items, but there are some concerns about possible bugs arising, so we will get back to you on that once we have some more information.

why cant we just keep the 200 soace and gain more from the room. that way no one complains

People will still find a way to complain.

You guys are aware of the mannequin system coming in 2.0, right? Gear won't take up inventory space anymore and there will be 1-click gear set changes between classes/jobs.

I don't know about you, but in my case gear takes up most of my inventory anyways, so I won't need the 200 spaces anymore once the mannequin system is in place.

Noooo you can't do that to the poor onion helm it could do with changing to make it kinda useful though I wanna craft with it, perhaps change its stats to scale as you lvl.

It seems this storage box is becoming more, and more useless by the day. It's not even out yet which is the funny part. At first we were told we could store u/u items, then it was seasonal items/af/achievement items. Now it's just the two former. Excellent.

I was looking forward to the storage for event items mainly, but it sounds like it might not have that capability? :\

They should really sort the Materia issue better, I think.

Making them stackable is a good step, but since there can be many types of materia for each tier (I mean T1 being, i.e., INT+1, INT+2, INT+3, etc....), staking them doesn't really help much.

There are only 2 good solutions, imho:
1 - Make a separate tab for materia (like with crystals); [BEST OPTION]
2 - Make all materia of same tier have the same stats.

Transferring items to retainers is bad enough as it is with the current netcode. I'm assuming transferring to-and-from storage will be just as annoying.
I am not looking forward to this change.
I'm not against storage in general, but I would much prefer this to be implemented in 2.0 when transferring items becomes more streamlined.

Why even release the storage box if you can't put seasonal event items into it? That was the primary reason people wanted it.

They didn't say you won't be able to store seasonal event items, they just said there are concerns about problems arising. To me that means it may not initially come with that functionality but that will come once they fix said problems.

A materia tab would be great as long as they keep materia so it requires inventory slots. I think what a lot of people want is for it to be like how crystals are now but then we'd end up with too much hoarding. Since the server merge, most materia prices have plummeted. There is a large disparity between prices of the higher tier materia and ones with lower quality stats (within the same quality ie. +9 enmity rage IV materia is dirt cheap while +12 are non-existent or absurd prices). This problem would only increase if materia didn't consume inventory slots.

Another way to alleviate inventory space & management issues would be to let us purchase more retainers. I believe the original plan around launch was to allow purchasing of retainers through the subscription service, something like $1 per retainer. In my ~3 years of XI I had at least 2 mules at all times and at one point I was up to 4 (for several months, not just for mog bonanza :P). I hate to jump on the "add this from XI" bandwagon, but I think this would be a reasonable option for FFXIV too.

I actually didn't like when they gave us the free inventory slots, so I was happy when I saw that it was a temporary measure.

My reason is that there should've been some kind of quest or additional content in order for us to earn that inventory space, rather than have it just given to us.

Then the feature is useless. It shouldn't be released until it is ready. That's how this game got into the situation that it's in.

If the storage cant store event items, tell the devs dont bother adding it untill it can.

you guys do understand it's event items coming in w/e patch.
Say in 1.22 they release a event - you wont be able to store items in 1.22 but most likely in later 1.22a or 1.23 etc. They just need to check to make sure it wont cause any issue.

Although they should test before the event but it doesn't mean we can't store all the event items, only the upcoming ones for temporary.

Anyways I posted translation on stuff that kind of sucks from JP Rep today, might get some people angry lol.

So you'd rather not be able to store SOME U/U gear because you can't store all event gear just yet? So they shouldn't add something in to alleviate the situation until it can reach full functionality? In most cases I'd agree but this is storage, it's not an incredibly complex system that changes the core of the game. It's putting shit in a box. Personally I'd be happy to store all my excess AF for the time being and be happy knowing that event item storage is coming. Must it really be all or nothing if they can increase the functionality later?

In all honesty? Yeah, I probably would. I'm fairly tired of this attitude they've been taking with this game. Nothing they release ever works properly. All we ever hear about is the costs to implement, and how shitty a server structure is. I'm tired of excuses. One of the reasons this was asked for in the first place was the seasonal items. I want a stable, finished, implementation. Perhaps people may not agree with my stance, and that's alright but i'm tired of these half-assed unfinished services.

Why would anyone be happy about decreased inventory slots? As a culinarian and when I have more jobs with armor and weapons out the kazoo to keep, not to mention all the crap that drops during parties... 200 slots goes pretty quickly. I don't know about you but I like playing the game instead of taking hours to arrange my inventory because I don't have enough room to store my armor and weapons. I also agree with the OP about the RDM job in FFXI, I had every elemental staff also and I always had a full inventory.

I wouldn't mind a quest like the gobbiebags to give us more inventory space, but I don't like that they're taking it away. Although I'll admit that 100 slots is better than 30 slots like some games give though.

This isn't something being half-assed though. It's them being cautious about potential bugs and giving us what they can for now while they fix that one part of the functionality. As I said, for any other system I'd agree with you but we're talking about storage here. Some now and more later is better than none until later.
