Dark mode for the new launcher please.

Just as the world is finally going to start enjoying true dark mode in Windows. Even Android is finally providing true dark mode.

Let us have dark mode launcher, please! :cool:

What's wrong with the light theme? I'm using it all the time cause it's new and looks pretty neat.

It is nice we get an update but pls let me choose a darker skin and maybe, just maybe let me stay logged on my PC or at least save passwords if i use the random keys anyways...

i hope they let us have the option to use the current launcher over the new one, it has more character than the new one, also is more organizated

Overall I prefer darker tones. I find it easier on my eyes

The current launcher has an iconic style to it. Represents the game well.

Yeah I'm only going to see it for a bit but still. Like the darker version better.

I support this, light themes can be hard on the eyes

And make a night/dark mode on the forums while we're at it.

Personally I don't hate the light theme. Not yet. I just like a dark theme better. And it just so happens that white backgrounds are going out of style, so it would be really sad to see a white theme forced on us just as dark modes are starting to become a standard system-level option.

I thought the new light launcher looked quite nice, but I do hope there is a night mode as well ('dark mode'). Beyond it being nice to have the ability to mix it up (been using light mode in game because it's fun to have it be different) I also think sometimes you just want your eyes to be in a relaxed state.

Super silly and entirely unnecessary but if they wanted to add an auto mode switching option to the launcher too I'd use it lol (based on time of day the launcher would automatically launch into different modes).

Or let the launcher gradually fade between light and dark mode depending on the Eorzea time. :cool:

New launcher is just a copy/paste modernized MMO launcher like tons of other MMOs that came out later have. Looks almost identical to how GW2's launcher used to.

Hopefully we get a setting for dark mode, I'm not a fan of the solid white either.

More than that, it's basically a slightly retweaked version of FFXIV 1.0's original launcher, only with a few more bells and whistles. But the overall theme and arrangement of icons is the more or less the same. I wonder though, why the launcher is being changed in the first place? Was there complaints about the ARR launcher?

As it seems rather odd that the launcher is being altered when I didn't really think there was anything that wrong with it.

I too prefer dark colour and despite yoshi-p say the launcher gonna get a cool renewal the preview i saw is kinda not my style and it remind me of soo many old mmo launcher...

Light-theme settings tend to hurt my eyes, so I tend to set my discord, in-game windows, youtube, etc as the darker color

I'd like the darkness as well. Especially on ps4 where it's full screen.

The new launcher is fine. If they want to make a dark theme, it could be similar to the grey used at the bottom.

But well, I personally like the new launcher design-wise, but I'd also prefer a darker tone scheme.
It doesn't have to be black, but dark grey could look fine, I think.

How long does it take you to log in that you need a dark mode?

Not saying the new launcher is bad or anything. The new launcher is fine. Just saying a dark mode would be better for me and others who prefer a darker color scheme.

I also don't "need" a dark mode. I just prefer it. So how long it takes for me to log in have absolutely no relevance to the discussion.

People who prefer the new launcher don't have to feel afraid. Nobody's asking for a revert to the old launcher. Just an option, a selectable mode that presents darker colors. Nobody is trying to make it sound like it's a big deal. It's just to express wishes and suggestions, so there's no need to try and refute other people's wishes.

Devs will be the judge of what they do or don't do. Don't have to debate if a suggestion is needed or justified. :)

+1 for dark theme.

Also, please let us use launch arguments on the new launcher with the ability to auto set name & password for auto login (like you can do with GW1 (game from 2004)).

But I'm very pleased we finally get a new launcher, it's 2019 no reason to use old '90's' launchers. (hopefully the font is also changed).

The paranoid part of me is wondering if this is to do with the Steam/non-Steam thing and if what they did now with the parameters just stage one and this launcher is the more permanent version that we can't use parameters on.

They could be decoupling it from internet explorer.

That part causes issues frequently I know. Have had to direct many to reset ie to fix launcher issues.

I take it you haven't witnessed the mass eye squinting that Amnesia: The Dark Descent caused. Moments of light that were maybe 3-4 seconds at most, but OH GOD MY EEEEYES.

Oh I know all about that only too well, so that does make sense. Still, I guess I'm so used to the ARR one now it's going to be a shock getting used to the new (old?) one. Ah well, I'll manage.

My eyes must be stupid cause dark modes cause my eyes more issues then light modes. Then again everything in my house is dark cause I shut out all sunlight in my house. So the only light I see is from my tv. So the light modes in the game don't cause issues oddly enough. Plus it's new and I like new things.

I don't really want my eyes to melt when it's dark in my room and I start the launcher.

It could be entirely transparent for all I care. As long as it still lacks the ability to remember my password (on PC), it remains a subpar launcher.

And no game that I launch from Steam should even force me to go through its own launcher to begin with *rant rant rant*

Steam is just a storefront. It's not going to store usernames or passwords for third party applications.

Rather large security risk there.

I'm fine with it not storing my password.

Just saw the new launcher and tried to find a way to make it dark, is there a way and I'm missing it? Disappointed that they didn't take this feedback into account.

I don't think so, but you can still for now use the old launcher. I suggest you do just because the new launcher is so bad that it doesn't even show patch download progress. You can't even tell if you are downloading a patch.
