My idea for a rework AST Card System

This is my idea on a rework AST card system inspired from the current system,just for fun.and feel free to comment on it.

changes for skills:

1.draw and play will be one button and upon using draw changes it to the card drawn.

2. undraw removed

3.redraw -can only be used once per card drawn.

4. just like the seal gauge ,there will be a gauge for umbral/astral that will be filled based on what card was used.

minor arcana will be active once 3+ cards were used and depending if more umbral or astral cards were used it will cast either lord(astral) or lady(umbral) and empty the umbral/astral gauge.

changes to cards:

cards will have a buff and a debuff effects on them.

the bole:
buff:increase 10% healing potency and apply regen potency 100 to self or party member and nearby members. duration 15s.

debuff: reduce healing done by 15% and apply 20 potency damage over time to target.duration 15s.

the balance:
buff: increase 10% outgoing and incoming damage to self or party member.duration 15s

debuff: decrease damage output by 10%. duration 10s

the spire:
buff: upon hit, restore hp by 10% of damage done and apply energize stack(max 3) to self or party member. duration 10s
energize effect: reduce the next skill/spell/auto attack cast time by 20%.

debuff: knockback a target and apply 10 potency dot to target and nearby enemies duration 9s.

the arrow:
buff:increase critical hit rate by %5 and movement speed by 20% for self or party member.duration 15s.
debuff: apply heavy and increase damage taken from critical hits by 10%. duration 10s

the ewer:
buff: give mp regen and reduce cast time by 20% for self or party member duration 20s
debuff: apply slow,bind and deal 10 potency damage over time for target and enemies near him.duration 20s

the spear:
buff:give 10% mitigation and apply fury effect upon hit.duration 10s

fury effect: deal 20 potency damage to all enemies around you.

debuff: decrease defense by 5% and increase critical hit taken by 5%.duration 5s

Lord of Crowns-buffs: give nearby party member increase damage melee dps/tank 6% to other 4% duration 10s
Lady of Crowns-gives nearby party member increase damage ranged/caster 6% others 4% duration 10s

Change to divination

instead of just different seals power divination up, it also can be powered up by having 3 identical seals and will apply additional effects based on what seal used.

divination: gives all nearby members damage increase by 6%, if there is 3 different/same seals increase buff to 8%
apply additional effects based on the seal used:

solar: increase healing potency by 10%
lunar: reduce mp cost by 20%
celestial: apply 10% mitigation

cd:120s


Card system explained

1.using draw ,changes the button to the card drawn(just like now).

2.only after the card is used,the draw button will return to normal and enter its cd.

3.redraw may only be used once per card until at higher levels its upgraded to be allowed more times to use(maybe add more redraw, not settle on that yet due to fishing problem).
for example at lvl 30 u can use redraw only once per card drawn and at level 70 after unlocking sleeve draw u can use redraw up to 2/3 times per card drawn.

4. based on the target the card will apply its effect(party member buffs,enemies debuffs)

5.after use it will give a seal for divination and umbral/astral for minor arcana.

6. if 3 same/different seals were drawn ,divination dps effect will increase and based on what seals were used will apply additional effects.

7.just like divination, minor arcana can be used only after 3 cards were used.minor arcana will cast lord or lady depending if more astral or umbral cards were used.

I’m not sure about the potencies. Some of them might be a little much given the extra effects/their debuffs being so much more available than chain strategem.

Love the flavour. Especially like the double edged sword of balance.

yea ,i am also not sure about the potencies but i decided just make them anyway for convenience and clearer description.
potencies can always be changed or get lowered as we all know SE like to do :).

some of those skills are irreverent anymore also i highly doubt SE will return the astro old system cause from what i understand SE removed it cause players usually fished cards with that all the time and they wanted it to stop.

Funny thing is, they're still fishing for cards because of the seal system, but now it's even more frustrating because you have a lot less time to do it.

I suspect that if SE wanted an Astrologian's rotation to be consisted only of cards, or doable only with cards, they've have done it. But then it would be like some sort of Yu-Gi-Oh character.

But on a side note, Astrologians face so much pressure in the beginning phase of a fight, have to fish for so many cards to hurry up and do their divination before dps start to cry because you didn't divination before their opener finishes.

Fishing for seals is worse than fishing for balance ever was. At least before we fished to change the outcome. Fishing now doesn't change the card and just barely changes who you're going to give it to. The only thing you're redrawing for is a small percentage change in a buff that we use once every two minutes. That's not changing the outcome, not in the slightest. Using all the charges of redraw to see 3x of the same seal feels worse than eight spires in a row. Using 2 redraws, there is slightly more than a 10% chance that you will see the same seal. So if I don't go into that last seal with a full 3 stacks of redraw, there's a 10% chance that seal fishing is gonna end in salt and swearing.

I wish we could get past the fishing is bad mentality. Other classes thrive on a proc-based rotation but no one ever suggests that DNC fishing for fandance procs is bad or that it's broken. It's by design. AST could have a great fishing design. Instead, we got fifty shades of balance with a seal system that punishes you for its own RNG with no options to mitigate that RNG on player side. Fishing for seals isn't fun--the seal doesn't change the card and it barely changes the overall outcome.

"Since we were tired to see you guys were always fishing for the best cards instead of enjoying your kit, we decided to turn all cards into a crappy version of your favourite card, we tripled your ability to fish, and you are now forced to fish if you want to be remotely useful!"

Seriously though, they could have simply removed Redraw or nerfed Balance if they wanted us to stop fishing.

Except the difference between a 2 seal and a 3 seal Divination is 1%, is it a difference? Sure, but not enough that it's a massive loss if you get unlucky with the seals. So while yes ofc you want to optimize and get 3 seals, it's not the end of the world if you pop a 5% with your groups raid cooldowns.

Infact, in your opener it's more important to get Divination out within the 4th or 5th gcd to align it with raid buffs then it is to get a 3 seal divination.
