WHY IS THIS GENDERLOCKED FFS
And undyeable
Did we expect something different for an NPC set? Hasn't this always been the case?
NPC sets were always genderlocked & undyeable (as far as I remember - correct me if I'm wrong). It is cute but probably only for Lalafell. It is a bit funny that it has it's own hairstyle which can be dyed, though :)
I don't have an issue with it being gender-locked, personally. I do, however, think that gender-locked items should be accompanied by a counterpart exclusive to the opposite gender. That way there's something for everybody.

and not Viera friendly either...yikes
saw it coming but... good to know before i jumped on getting it
My problem is with the hairstyle. It’s attached to the hood.
Does that mean Krile is really bald underneath that hood?
Clearly she is a woman of many secrets.

I wouldn't expect any less.
Dancer Artifact Gear is almost Lyse Gear so I wouldn't count on that. Crystal Exarch would be sweeeet! I might even reroll catboy for that.
And Y'shtola was confirmed by Yoshi if I remember correctly.
While we're at it: is there any reason those NPC outfits aren't dyeable?? I think they would make much more money with it - I for one would def buy some of those if I could dye them - with that being said, I don't see why I should spend money on an outfit I can't even mix and match and make more 'unique' with colours to my liking
i think its likely we'll get a male NPC outfit and then Yshtolas maybe towards the end of SHB. Of course, it could be that the Exarch's outfit would be wearable by both. Id actually quite like Innocents outfit - its pretty cool and i suppose Vauthry's minus the creepyface.
I cant think of what outfit they could add as male only though aside from the Exarch's. Ran'jit's is a recolour of the Garo PVP gear I think or at the very least is similar to it. .... They could give us Emet's outfit i suppose, but its a bit meh in my opinion.
That honestly is a horrible move. Means male characters will get an outfit that basically hides your entire features, while the girls get Krile's, Y'shtola's and possibly Lyse's or Ryne's outfits in the future. If the gap on Y 'shtola's isn't that big, that's three female only NPC outfits back to back, and counting. Most male NPCs use general job gear or market board randomness. So unless they give us Emet's clothes, there really isn't any guy with an outfit worth of being put in the mog station of all places. Also worth mentioning the girls get Minfilia's, Y'shtola's, "Krile's" and even Aymeric's hair while the guys get Thancred's, while also sharing Aymeric's one with the opposite gender. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Don't even get me started on the obvious female centric modern aesthetic choices, and yet Alma's hair that would be amazing on the guys, is gender locked. Same goes for how cute the girls would be if they had access to Ramza's hair.
I will not be buying this outfit. The dye pattern makes no sense. Since when do we dye an outfit's hair instead of the fabric itself? Also on Viera it looks downright ridiculous. The last thing is the genderlocking of the outfit-time and time again it has been noted that people would prefer unisex versions and correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a similar outfit like this worn by high level white mages of both genders in other final fantasy games?
i wouldnt mind crystal Exarch its a much better alternative to Krile imo
but the question is
would it hide tails
I've always been really disappointed on their implementation of the Character sets, so I've never bought any. I have always felt like it's such a low effort, and then they charge so much for it. Not surprised but still constantly disappointed.
Disappointed it's female only, was all ready to buy and had a sneaking suspicion that we still would not be beyond these restrictions. We have the bunny outfits for male characters, please can we have Krile's outfit too?
As much as I love the design and always wanted it to be playable, I am so tired of not being able to dye NPC outfits. And especially this one, in its unique shade of yellow that won't in a million years go with anything else in my glamour dresser.
I think they need to change their policy on dyeing NPC outfits. It's completely arbitrary anti-QoL that significantly reduces the value of those items for no practical reason. If they went out of their way to add a tinting mask just for the hair, they have no acceptable excuses for leaving the rest of the outfit undeyable.
That said, I understand leaving the outfits gender-specific. Gender variants require remodelling (and in extreme cases, entirely remapping and having to come up with a new texture) and males, in terms of how bodytypes work internally, are much harder to model gear for than the females because while all females (except Lalafell who are unique and mostly unisex) share one base model (Midlander), guys have three (Midlander, Highlander, Roegadyn).
At least they lowered from 18 to 12 bucks.
Tried to think about it. Really, it's concerning how limited/difficult it is to come up with them. Gaius has a special outfit, I think? I guess there's Ran'jit but he seems like such a minor character. Seriously doubt they'd let people strut around in Zenos or Varis armor (could be wrong). In any case, I'm hoping they release something timely without getting carried away with their bias.
There's Raubahn's, but it's nothing special, then there's Cid's second outfit... I don't think Nero is relevant/popular enough but I'd kill for his hairstyle, for what it's worth...and...not sure if G'raha's first outfit was unique....? *scratches head* then... idk, Asahi? (lol)
