Return letters from the Rising 2019

So, if anyone has done the Rising event and gotten to the repeatable quest for the tokens, you will know that the team behind the game has taken time to write to us, the players and express their thoughts and feelings about the direction the game has taken and how we are using the things they've built over the years.

I don't know if a thread like this already exists but... I decided that I would put something together so that we can write back to them, they may or may not see it, but I'm a sentimental guy and just thought that if even part of the forum moderation team or the community team were to see these it would mean a lot to them.

So... feel free to put your letters to the team below and let's see if we can't do a little bit to share, yet again, the things we find that make this game so special to us all these years after its relaunch.

Go do the rising event and then continue with the repeatable missions they give and there you'll see them.

So seems the letters are divided between
small-Fans
medium-The Devs
large-Lore

I've yet to get above 5 on large and 3 on medium and small so if theres more please let me know.

Edit: just got medium 6 >_> so long way to see all

1. Message boards (now canon in-universe!)
6. Minions

Large letters:
1. To a fledgling adventurer, from "a fellow adventurer"
3. Re. Heavensward, from "a devoted Temple Knight"
4. Re. Stormblood, from "a former fighter of the Resistance"
5. Spoiler for Shadowbringers

Is there a #6...?

I'll be interested to try this on my lower-level alt, but most likely they'll just get whatever letters are appropriate for what they're up to in the story.

I'll have to read these online, as endearing as they are, I don't want to spend an hour running back and forth for it.

But for those I have read, it makes my heart swell. Because I have never seen so much love and care go into a game since Skullgirls (to an extent Indivisible) and Cuphead. Both indie but insanely amazing work. I wish I could attend any of the XIV events to meet and shake YoshiP's hand, but alas.

(-Small Bottle, Letter III-)The other day at the aetheryte plaza, I happened upon a minstrel cheerfully strumming a tune before an admiring crowd of adventurers and townspeople.
Impromptu concerts like these have been happening more and more of late, and I daresay nothing fills our hearts with joy quite like seeing people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life bonding over a love of music.
To all the talented composers and instrumentalists out there, we thank you for providing a soundtrack to stir our own hearts. We hope that the music of Eorzea has served to render your adventures even richer and more memorable.

I find it difficult to explain my taste in music since I'm not sure what to classify XIV as. It's truly a gift that keeps on giving.

4. From one of the Mahjong tutors, who was worried if Eorzeans would be at all interested in the game.

As someone who really enjoys it after first experiencing it in this game, to the point where I got a physical set and play with my family, this one was particular touching.

If you read this, Yoshi, and the rest of you devs; thank you for giving us a place to wile away our time, find friends, reunite with peeps from other games, melt off some day to day frustration, etc. It is appreciated.

Small Bottle, legible but sporadic script: I can't say that you or the other masters of the world we live in will read this message, but thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done. As a Legacy player, I have seen the worst this game has to offer. I have also seen the best, and for that reason I have not quit paying for a subscription since relaunch. The lands of Eorzea and now also Norvrandt have been a very positive influence on my life. The stories, the musics, the characters, the fashions, the gameplay- I enjoy everything and more about Hydaelyn, and I intend to continue playing as long as you continue to create more for us to experience. I may not always agree with certain major changes, but I do know and appreciate that you have the population's best interests in mind when making changes. And, in terms of what 5.1 and beyond will reveal in the future, let me just say that I'm looking forward to it! (Please don't over-exert yourselves, though.)

That's part and parcel of the Rising, the first year it was run Yoshi only spoke through his 'Wandering Minstrel' alter ego to the player through the Fourth Wall, but 2015 was when he utterly smashed the game's Fourth Wall to dust with the 'Eighteenth Floor' area and he directly appeared (wearing MCH AF that year) to address the player and personally thank them for their support.

So it's been kind of a tradition since then for Yoshi to personally appear in it and thank the player directly for continuing to make FFXIV what it is. :)

This year's one was poignant, and I got the joke when

Yoshi appears with duplicates of your character, it took me a few seconds to realize why the copies of your character were dressed as ARC, WAR, DRG, MNK, SAM and DRK, as these are the appearences of 'Derplander' (aka Source!Ardbert) throughout the opening movies to FFXIV 1.0, ARR, Heavensward, Stormblood and now Shadowbringers,

so it was a nice little reference. ;)

Nothing will beat 2015's 18th Floor though.... So much in-jokes, that I'm certain the development team must have had a lot of fun making that. :D

Same! It makes me almost regret deleting my old character with the minions I've collected. Oh well, got some minions with my new character anyway.

I don't know who will read this message. I don't even know if I expect anyone to read it. But I feel I must write nonetheless, and cast the words into the unknown.
