What's up with the wreckless big pulls lately?

It seems over the past few weeks every dungeon I am doing either 50/60/70 or leveling roulette the tanks have this general "I want to big pull everything and sprint through this content as fast as I can" mentality, without waiting for the healer to even be in line of sight? I mean it's one thing if you want to big pull - I can handle that - but if your 50 yalms ahead of me and I can't use Sprint to keep up because it's on this stupid 60 second cooldown, your gonna die and their isn't anything I can do about it. By the time I catch up to you I'm going to have to rapid cast the heck out of heals and your probably going to be getting hit so hard no matter how rapidly I cast crap your gonna die.

Can we just play with consideration that not everyone has found a way to hack the cooldown timer for Sprint yet?

Speed runs and big pulls have been around since ARR.
Tanks don't run faster than you or have shorter Sprint CDs. All they may have over you are gap closers but they don't let them jump through half the dungeon. So my advice: you see the tank hitting sprint? Do the same and always tail them. Run really close to them as they pick up mobs. You won't lag behind and in case you need to heal mid pull, they can pick mobs right back up should one go for you.
If you need a moment, write it in the party chat and if someone dies from pulling while you needed to adjust something, it's on them.
Otherwise don't zone out and always tail the tank. If you can't handle big pulls, say so. If you can, tail the tank.

Or use rescue to force him back xD

Sprint before combat starts, and after combat ends. The duration for Sprint is halved in combat.

They're fun. Hit sprint when you see it pop up on the tank and you shouldn't fall behind.

People want to do everything super fast and then complain that there's no endgame content. They don't understand just enjoying the game you're playing, instead of just getting to the end. And unfortunately it's a common occurrence. Even when there's no extra prize for finishing a duty faster, they still try to do it even if no one else wants to.

People have a different opinion of what endgame content is. For me it's savage. So having to grind Ex DFs so many times just to gear up for it is extremely tedious. Same goes for a lot of players. Not to mention dungeons are extremely bland as far as mechanics go. I almost fall asleep regularly they are such a snoozefest (roulette after a long days work...recipe for zzzzzzz).

Unless you're undergeared there's not anything threatening in leveling dungeons except Aurum Vale first room and the Shadowbringer dungeons. And that only means anything beyond 3 packs could potentially kill you. In 50/60/70 I can't think of anything actually threatening. It was actually in 50 dungeons that wall to wall pulls became the norm and stop gates started to become added to intentionally slow people down.

Saying that, you aren't required to do those kinds of pulls if you don't want to. At the same time, people might be hopelessly bored doing single pulls or just prefer getting the most out of their DPS aoe kit or caster limit break. Neither is the right or wrong way to play.

That being said: You'll always be able to keep up with the tank if you want to. They don't have any means to outrun you.

If your group can handle wall-to-walls, they're way more fun (as long as you're not the healer). DPS get to put out bigger numbers and the run goes by much faster. Most of my FC healers complain when I wall-to-wall in 50/60/70, and I understand that because it's way more stressful to heal bigger pulls. I do it anyway because I know they can handle it and we all legitimately do want to be out of there sooner rather than later, healer aneurysms be damned.

The trick is that I'm also a weird tank. I believe that Sprint exists to help people catch up to the tank, not for the tank to go full Sanic Speed as often as possible. So I don't pop Sprint when I'm tanking dungeons unless I need it to avoid a boss mechanic. (On the other hand, if it's an alliance raid, Alexander, or MSQ roulette? Sprint's getting popped as often as possible. Get that Syrcus Tower nonsense over with ASAP.)

Tbh wall-to-wall pulls are the reason I still enjoy running dungeons. Single or generally small pulls where I spent most of my time with Glare/ Malefic/ Broil spam and don't even need to use oGCDs and time things right feel like a slog. As a healer, I'm all for wall-to-wall or at least as big as the group can handle if a dungeon doesn't has any gates besides bosses.
I've started to think of Sprint as a sort-of dmg mitigation, because once you tapped all the mobs, you can sprint into the next group and don't get whacked on the way.

Sprinting was never really that important to me. I don't sprint when I big pull as a tank, and I don't sprint when my tank decides to sprint and do a big pull. Unless I just get a sudden urge to move slightly faster, which is rare. Both go perfectly fine for me.

Then you're wasting damage and healing and quite likely ensuring that a pull that would have merely be intensive becomes impossible. There is absolutely no benefit for not sprinting. You save half your max HP or so, avoid confusing your dps or healer, and arrive at point B faster than you otherwise would have.

If you wouldn't accept someone saying "Hey guys, I'd rather just stop and wait for a while in some fire," there's no reason to be okay with no sprinting, either.

Since I've been playing tank, my normal 'speed' is about 2-3 groups of mobs at a time, usually two. In DF, I don't know the healer, they don't know me. I'd rather get through the dungeon in 10-15 minutes with no wipes (due to a lack of communication about pulling), as opposed to going for that 9 minute full-sprint run and possibly wiping. Trying to go too fast, IMO, usually results in people making mistakes and CD's not having time to reset. But this is just my observations as a lowly sprout tank. :)

They're just faster, I do them whenever possible and if the current state of my run allows for it. Factors like the team's gear and skill come to mind, as well as the dungeon in question.
Fighting trash is not super engaging for me, I press my 1-3 AoE GCDs and whatever oGCDs I have. I would rather be hitting more enemies with each use of those AoE abilities; it's more satisfying and does more DPS in total.

50/60/70 roulette is full of dungeons that become trivial when you are wearing good gear for the expansion in question. Since 99% of the time players will outgear it either by virtue of being much higher leveled or wearing poetics gear, they're the biggest candidate for running to the wall. Expert roulette is fine too, especially now when the dungeon pool is shallow and people are prepared. Leveling roulette is really the only roulette where I would consider it more carefully, but if there is nobody new to the duty I'm quick to go for the wall pull as well.
I tend to take more care in ShB dungeons, since people often spam them to level 70-80 and may not have the best gear, but from my experience the big pulls aren't too bad. They're possible in every single dungeon, Aurum Vale might be the only exception. I default to them unless the healer objects or I can see problems arise due to new or undergeared teammates.

My question is, if the tank is running why are you not running along him?

Not everybody feels like sprinting through dungeons.

-shrugs- The big pulls I've been doing seem to be wreaking just fine.

In the last lv80 dungeon in the DF list.. tanks keep trying that Ronald McDonald pull that goes straight to wall. If me and the tank are the only ones AOEing, we gonna wipe and Nelson is gonna spawn saying HA HA! Healer cant help there. Every iteration of Jaws is in that pull, plus a few dozen thingambobs.

Because wall pulls are the standard for synced (and therefore overgeared) tanks, it has become a standard etiquette that tanks feel obliged to wall pull all the time.

When the tank is under, or even sometimes average, geared for the dungeon, wall pulls are not always appropriate... yet tanks feel pressure to do so because it is the norm. Many tanks also do not understand the nuances of wall pulls yet attempt it anyway.

Unfortunately as healer it often feels like the tank is demanding of you to keep up with the wall pulls. I'd bet in-fact 90% of the time the tank feels pressured by the DPS to make wall pulls.

When I play DPS i do not care. pull 3 or 30, I will be doing the same AoE rotation anyway. It saves more time to not die than do twice the AoE DPS for a few seconds before a wipe.
