expansion to the chocobo system ideal

I been what a dragonling companion as expansion here are my ideal

level basic progress with trust system every time you battle with the dragonling you build a trust for inexprence partner to trusted allied

you have access to the different spec with dragonling

healing

dps

tank tree

each tree has dragonling take on different color basic on his roles

the system would basic trust. the high this the more exp you can gain for little fellow can be. I not sure this would include armor for the dragonling I not sure the dragonling would find the enjoyable

through dragonling barding might be kind cute

So you are basically re-skinning chocobo to dragonling, and making the dragonling gain 'trust' instead of 'experience' in order to progress abilities? This does not look like an expansion, just a reskin. But hey, it would be cool to have a dragon fighting by your side instead of a chocobo, I guess.

Yoshi already ruled out any expansion to the chocobo companion system long ago - the closest you're going to get to having a dragon pet like what DRG has in FFXI is the Midgardsormr and Dragonling minions, they're not going to change your chocobo companion into one I'm sorry to say.

If there will be never something else than Chocobos as companions, to reduce workload to an absolute minimum, that is fine and acceptable.

What is in return by todays technical standards absolutely unacceptable, is how outdated this feature is by now after 6 years.
The companion feature needs a big quality of life overwork and mechanics change, to modernize the feature and bring it up to date with todays modern mechanics and a better A.I that the game has by now with Trust.


1. Remove the idiotic need to have to use Gysahl just to be able to call the Companion, and while being at it, removed the total brainless time limits with that together too.
People have no issues with permanent Mounts, so why need Companions to be forced to disappear every 30-60 minutes? Its just complete pointless game design
Frees up also the inventory of an obsolete item, unless changed into color change food

2. Give Companion Gear Stats > Strength, Vitality, Willpower, Tenacity to help making Companions more useful help, that players can then upgrade to raise them and add special Rider-Materia to that gear to further enhance with them the abilities of the Companion, so that it uses them quicker n more often with better efficiency.
3. Turn Companions into Lvl 80 Trust NPC, each Companion Level you have now converts to 4 Trust Levels. so a 20er Chocobo will be Lvl 80 after being changed to Trust to get the improved A.I from this change.
Companion will work out as Allrounder, that are always the role that is needed to make a party ready to go, exactly how the Crystal Exarch works.
4. Completely change the Skills of the Companion and add more to it, so that a Lvl 80 tanking Companion is equally good as like the tank player, otherwise it is absolutely pointless if the companion can't be MT for you as tank, because the PCh is at everything much better than the companion by now. Example: Tank Player 125k + Health, Companions? Only like 88k or so, thats a whopping difference of around 35-37k Health!!!! n players have much more skills to reduce and avoid damage, the companion only 1 skill that reduces damage for 15s, but nothing to avoid damage, the dumb current AI, eats literally all damage and just tries to outheal it only with sporadic used Chocobo Regenas, omg, this is so pre 2000, we have 2019!!!
5. Add Companion Glamours which don't change in general, WHAT the companion just is, but HOW the companion looks like. This way no mechanics need to be changed, but players gain the option to change to look of the companion.
You hate Chocobos? no problem, use the Companion Glamour and change your ugly bird maybe into a handsome Couerl instead or into an other living creature mount skin that you eventually like more, which SE would allow to use as Companion Glamour. The MH Rathalos for example would be my personal choice for having a Dragon literally as companion glamour. Single hook on that would be, use a companion glamour and you can't have the looks of the chocobo based companion gear ;) Obvious, or?

More stuff for the Companion (chocobo) system would be fun, but at the same time, I wonder to myself how much it would actually be used. When running around doing FATEs or Sidequests I don’t find myself using the Chocobo very often, and I don’t think I’ve seen it used by most people in overworks content.

So I feel like even if they did implement something like that it wouldn’t add much to actual gameplay. Not to say that it’s a bad idea, just that I think the system would maybe need adjustments in its current form before getting something new

The only changes Id like to see with the choco system is how it interacts in battle by adding another stance and buffing Choco Regen.

Buffing Choco-Regen:

It shouldn't be lower potency than Choco-Cure. Something like 45 potency over 30 seconds would put it at 450 potency (compared to Choco-cure at 300 potency.) If "Obey Stance" was implemented and Choco-Regen is never adjusted I would just turn it off.

I don' know how empty obviously your world must be but here on Shiva at leadt I see pretty much 80-90% of people running around with companions, either to use them as mounts, or to have easier times with fates in the kind of deserted maps to kill foes a bit quicker and survive longer.

Personally I use it pretty much from begin on and have it basically always with me, its simple a nice dps n heal support and sometimes just the digital shield you need between you and a foe to get away alive. Yes. adjustments is it what this outdated feature needs.

I wish Yoshi P would reconsider with the rebuilding of Ishgard this would be perfect time introduce a Dragonling companion who would problem love to see the world with us

i would like see a expansion with rebuilding of Ishgard it perfect time to roll out a dragonling companion that could give quest it also a peferct time make armor/barding for it that has stats for it or for chocobo. in this way SE would be give something for combat jobs with rebuild also another ideal with rebuilding when done you get access to Ishgarding housing

i feel the glamour system has been use to much for to many thing leave for players gear

the dragonling could have quest to do with them

I just want more chocobo bardings and skills and stuffs

picture the dragonling be able aid low level character or start out at low level
