Anima is terrible, there are tons of people online(who don't read the forums) that agree with me.
Nonono,
This thread is about Anima love. It's the only thread those who like anime have.
If you wish to talk about displeasure of Anima, please use one of the existing 100 (teehee) threads on it.
Thank you kindly!
Well I hope your welcome to the obligatory post that disagrees with you.
I think Anima needs serious tweaking, but we should look at it when the map reforms are (if) shown to us. If the world is worth exploring I think Anima needs a serious overhaul. If they are going to keep the world bland and less than interesting then I could care less how many people decide to skip the game.
If the world is worth exploring there should be some challenge and rewards for doing said exploring. I'd rather people not skip what I think is a integral part of what will make this game great.
Of course this is only my take on the subject, also... making another thread to complain about other threads isn't usually the most constructive thing you can do.
I love when threads regarding a single feature in the game all pop up at once. It almost feels like everyone is sitting in a room I don't know about and deciding what feature to battle over next. Before 1.21 anima was hardly talked about and now it seems to be the big button topic.
Jynx said what I feel about anima. In a bland world such as the current Eorzea I couldn't give two sh*ts about exploring it so anima is wonderful. In a world that shows promise, like new Eorzea/2.0 Eorzea...I think Anima would take away from the world's beauty if we could just skip over it.
Anima = garbage travel system. 11 did it better.
Copying myself:
remove GIL...please make it easier. because everytime when i bought new equipment i'm out of money ;D
well personally i have still anima how come.
it is because you wanted to do all Job Quests at one day so you needed to port everywhere.
that is your problem if you dont care at anima for that moment.
if you can port anytime.. you wont walk anymore. you will always port.
and thats also shitty
i hate people complaining about "i want to have this for free, i want to have that easier... and that easier.." a rpg is about progressing, and not to have almost everything from the beginning on.
you dont have to finish all job quests at once.. if it is harder and takes more time to finish the job quests (because you cant easily teleport everywhere within a snip) the emotional reward(?) is much bigger in the end. thats the way how rpgs are, you progress slowly and in the end you feel like having done something special.
i hope SE wont listen to these opinions.
11 did it better? well if i want to get to Sand'oria as a dragoon i have to shout for a whm "Teleport please, can i have it ? 50k"
Woah... thats sooo much better.... in FF14 everyone can teleport.
and if we remove anima, everyone would teleport at any time. thats also not good.
nice to see people complaining about anima, because they had to speed run through job quests, without walking/riding/flying. i have personally no problem, not to do all job quests at once a day..... -_-
and if i am lisening all the time to the topics "remove that, remove that, make that easier..." im questioning myself which kind of players you are.
and do not forget the world of FF14 will get smaller with 2.0. (like they said) maybe it wont be worth such a discussion then anymore.
what they could also do maybe... if we would also regenerate more Anima while "resting" in an "INN" of the citys
Anima could be used as a pet for summoner lately, and could tele anyone anywhere !!!
I know it's unrelated and useless... as this thread... "to rebalance"... lol...
if you want to talk about it, it's here !
Do you really think dev's team only read title ? >.>
We should take Gladiator away too. I don't play as it, so it should not be in the game.
You know what? Take away that zone where Dodore lives. I don't go there a lot, so it should be removed.
Don't you see how lame your argument is? Don't like anima? Great. Don't use it.
Anima is great keep it as it is.
LEAVE ANIMA ALONE
/CRIES
Well guys... on 2.0 this will happend:

So no more anima?
I love anima.
~ the end ~
Having been to every corner of Eorzea as it currently exists, I would submit that it is actually quite beautiful. It's like wandering in the woods in Oregon, or the Grand Canyon.
I think there are people nowadays who will not be happy with a game unless there are floating rocks and Phazon deposits a la Metroid in every corner of a given planet. I, for one, find the maps to be simply lovely to wander.
In all honesty, I really dread Coerthas being taken apart. Favorite zone ever. ; ; I've got a little under a gig of screenshots of Coerthas alone on my desktop PC, it reminds me much of Oregon it's painful.
(o.- ) Honestly, at this point I think people are complaining for the sake of complaint. Some people seem to derive pleasure from snarling and snapping, merited or not. I cannot fathom, in any way, how XI's zones were superior to those of XIV. There were more of them, to be sure, but there's no greater degree of variety zone to zone than exists in XIV. I suppose I'm alone in this, though.
(>>) TL;DR: You be trippin' on shrooms if you find XIV's landscaping to be ugly.
Even as someone who has wandered the entire map a few times, I can't agree. There are some sights to see some good vistas but overall it's a extremly bland world. Nothing defines the landscape from the surrounding area, perhaps it's too large for its own good. Having giant swaths of land with nothing to do other than look at the grass/rocks and to find the odd nice vantage isn't great world design.
I concur with regards to much of the world being unused, but that seems, to me, to be a slightly different issue than the world itself being unattractive. @_@Quote:

My gosh Rokien, if you expect people to put up with someone as obnoxious as yourself, the least you could do is put up with Anima. Lol.
Regardless, it is SE's call and I highly doubt they would ever remove the teleportation system. Its optional, and unlike other games it is heavily restricted by the Anima recharge rate.
I have no clue wtf this tonkra guy just said but wait until your preciouss anima is curb stomped in 2.0. There is a reason things like traveling take time and its because it creates longevity in the game. If everything is quick and easy to get to, the game becomes that much more quick and easy to complete and therfore bad model for SE so say goodbye to anima as we know it! AAAAH HAHAHAHAAAHAHAAHAAA!!!!!
There are currently 2.5 x the players voting for anima than those against (25 vs 10).
Majority rules. Get over it.
Keep anima, there are ppl that can't devote hours a day to playing the game so it's there for ppl who want to go from one place to another and do stuff like leves, gather, craft, etc. in the short time they're online. And as some have stated, "don't like anima? don't use it.".
now standing at 29 for to 10 against anima
If he thought anima was a terrible thing then he probably would have removed it during the drastic reforms in 1.17-1.21, especially considering Chocobos and Airships were implemented during that time. He said he's got one chance to really change things and that's it. What's he waiting for? He could have done it easily by now if he wanted to. You need to stop assuming that the producer is on your side.
I like trains.
I have a thread about that ;Dhttp://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/37948-Trains
Anima= gets to A to B in an instant
Content= Gets blown down fast because of Anima
Longevity?= Get rid of anima to a point like get 20 Anima and each tele to where ever is 2 points a tele
Why people don't use anything else besides Anima?= Because its fast and the most Reliable
The world is Boring so Anima makes it easier to coup with? Well in 2.0 it could very well not be that way.. I agree keep it "for now" but in 2.0 when areas are more appealing to the eye.. get rid of it and have other modes of Transportation
In order to keep longevity in content.. SE needs to not make it soo fast to get to said places.. why you think people complain theres 0 content in the game, no matter what SE does? Because of Anima.. if you don't have Anima.. someone else does.. in which case its like having almost unlimited Anima "in a sense". Anima is extremely useful.. that needs to be dumbed down a bit..
If you don't like it.. don't use it? Kinda hard when the temptation of using it is there.. doesn't mean I do like it...
Adding to my thought:
When FFXI didn't have Anima and had WHM spells to get you from A to B and nothing else, How well did that work in terms of Longevity? It made you have to wait for a tele (sometimes) and it wasn't so "Instant" because person had to wait for tele to get to said Destination.
If FFXI had Anima with all the content it had to offer, would it get done alot quicker? Yes, however the game had a sense of difficulty as well. FFXIV Not so much. In 2.0, if things are as difficult as FFXI (not content just difficulty) then that will also add to the longevity. But this whole Boom your there thing.. Just telling beople to Quickly do the content, and complain there's none in the end..
This is my thought, I know I'll get flamed but ya know what.. were human we all have opinions :P.
Your argument holds with the current size of the world but with future content additions the world will be expanding and there will be a greater number of locations you can teleport to. This means, if content is spread out appropriately, you won't have enough anima to just burn through it all immediately. They could even up the cost of teleports to other regions/continents. They already have a bit of a tiered teleport cost system, they could continue expanding on that. They could also make places that you can't teleport to or where the destination is far from the teleport location.
Edit: Also worth noting, this game has always been and still is designed for a more casual audience than FFXI. Don't expect things to be difficult/time consuming like they were in FFXI.
i agree with the op. there's a few things i would do to tweak anima, but i do not want it completely removed.
here's what i'd love to see done with anima.
1. you cannot port to a node you haven't visited by yourself.
2. add additional ways of teleporting
3. lower the regen rate once the additional ways are put in.
waaaaaaaaaaaarp cuuuuuuuuuuuuudgel
hey want to come do a dungeon
sure!!
oh your there already, i don't have anima
...who wants to help me at skull valley real quick i need kill somethings
...cricket ..cricket i don't have anima's ..run? yeah right, right?
omg we get back dkp and open world nm's like we did at one time? (lol doubt it but still)
omg leaders don't have extra accounts to mule us around? what everyone needs to save there anima for this?
...exp grind camp blah blah 7/8
..oh you already started i don't have anima and time i get there i don't want risk you disbanding on me in 20mins.
oh we need players for grind or dungeon, gah i need to port all way to uldah and shout cause no one replaces themselves and our search function is void still. after one or 2 of these happening back to back, meh time to disband instead cause i have no anima. it should not be this way.
anima system = a punishment system, yes it's faster and easier then the one we had in ffxi only cause you don't depend on players to port. but it was a totally free system, putting a limitation on things are punishments, people who use there rested exp usually log out or stop exp'ing. people who run out of anima just stop doing things that involve long runs or are counting on others to have the ports. the average player would be at the least twice as active in the game if not for the limitations on anima. stretch out the crystals a little in distance, give a tiny bit less exp, don't cap how much you can use or get, it just says to people stop. and it shouldn't be that way.
Keep anima but make anima cost only 1 anima for transportation. =)
I am a fan of anima because it forces you to budget your anima wisely. If you don't play very often, you'll likely NEVER run out. If you do, you just have to be careful about it. You'd be surprised how quickly you can run from one area to another (it feels longer than it is... I noticed this when I had a crafting buff on while I ran around to hand in leves).
Where it gets frustrating is after a big patch... Many quests require you to run all over the place, and if you don't want to spend a really long time doing it, you must use anima.
Here's where the problem lies... Many people 'ran out' of anima quickly last patch... and many people run out of anima EVERY major patch... but you know what?
Don't forget... your anima can be used on your party, too! So, anima REALLY encourages you to work together with other people. When one person in my linkshell ran low on anima, someone else would pick up the slack. Although we have spent the better part of the last week and a half running around doing all of the new content, we have never, as a collective, run out of anima completely. There's always SOMEONE in the group who can teleport. The real question is... do you have a reliable group that is willing to share?
