I'm on Hyperion and my duty finder has been stuck as "Reserving Server" for 10 minutes now.
Is there a certain dungeon you are queued for or just a roulette? I know Amdapor Keep (I believe it is) seems to be a popular botting spot and those can take time to get into.
Something my relic weapon needed, I don't even pay attention, I just que and then read reddit and the forum until it pops.
*looks over as he wiggles the mouse to keep from afk after half an hour* yup, it's Amdapor Keep...
So, keeping me from getting my relic weapon, is part of some techique to try to limit bots? Hows that work?
I'm over 2 hours at "reserving server" now...
As I see it, they could add more room so as to not let the bots punish people who want to play, or they could do something about the bots.
As they are doing nither, this is just another example of them being willing to let bots hold the game hostage.
I have helped people to get in there and it seems that if you join with a premade party with any number of players, the wait time will be multiple times faster, so ask someone to help you in novice network.
... you know, you can go look at my lodestone?
Descidedly not a sprout in the notice network doing that for the first time.
I'm trying to get my classic relic weapons for the glams.
I'm 3 hours of "reserving server" and I am not going to get out of line when it says I'm at the front of the line.
Could try Squadron, don't recall if that is an option off the top of my head.
At this point 222:22 into waiting at "reserving server" I refuse to give up, I'm going to sit here and watch, even if I have to stay awake and connected all night, sacrificing sleep and sanity to see how long it waits.
I still don't understand why SE isn't willing to just axe the gil drops on dungeon trash mobs to force the bots out of instances.
They're too small to be of any real benefit to actual players who can't farm the mobs at even a fraction of the speed the bots are able to.
I estimated that they only make around 5K gil combined each time they clear out all of the trash before the first boss...but when you have dozens of teams of bots doing it simultaneously it adds up very quickly.
I guess one of the core issues is that they can just produce more bots to increase their income even if they force them to abuse a less efficient source of gil, though I can't think of any renewable sources of gil in the overworld that come remotely close to what dungeons have to offer.
I gave up after 5 HOURS of it saying "reserving server" and went to do something else. It looks like the bots want to prevent me from getting my relic weapon today.
So what is it with bots and having such a massive NEED to run this instance in particular? Are there some kind of rare(ish) crafting mats in there or what? I feel like I'm missing something. /think
The fact that this can even happen is honestly quite disgusting. I almost want to unsub, but even if i did I'm just one in millions. This is probably going to get worse as time goes on too.
I have personally never played a game where I could not participate in certain "instances" due to bots or gil sellers. Not even free to play games. Of course the gil spam in chat is usually much worse as well as the economy, but the games were still playable.
Amdapor Keep has the highest density of mobs that drop gil out of any ARR dungeon and they have low HP to boot.
The bots use their teleport hacks to swiftly aggro everything prior to the first boss, round them up into a ball then burn them down in a matter of seconds with the tried and true BLM Flare spam. They can't die as they go out of bounds to avoid being hit by the enemies.
This could be fixed both by changing the enemy AI to not allow itself to simply be killed if it's not able to path to its target (Which is already a thing in flight-enabled zones where they'll insta-reset if they can't reach you) and by just axing the gil drops so the bots have nothing to abuse anymore.
I'd be okay with removing all gil drops outside of main bosses in some of the earlier dungeons. The only actual players running AK these days are people doing it for old relics or people doing it for the story - it hasn't been a leveling or tome grind spot since Lost City speed runs came out.
Oh, after the last bot ban, as revenge against SQUENIX, the bots made it impossible to enter parts of Ul-dah, and impossible to enter central shroud for a few hours.
I think the "simplest" solution would be to "move" all of the gil that would drop to the boss, and then make the boss aware enough that it can't be cheezed from outside.
I agree a change would be nice but then the bots would just be moved to a different instance or location which could be worse. Like trains of bots underground burning Fates, which I suppose wouldn't be the end of the world but I can't imagine that looking very pretty to any players.
There are already trains of bots underground preventing progress in the MSQ for hours at a time in some locations.
Nothing about this situation looks good, but they don't do anything to fix it. I've been told by gm's that they are litterally not allowed to do anything. It's all in the hands of the special bot team.... who only does biweekly waves.
