Hey Viera and Hrothgar players!

How are you guys feeling about your limited hair options? Good, bad or meh?

Question just for the Hrothgar players! How facial expressions on your character, considering it’s just a cat face.

I'm more saddened by the lack of hats. Would at least like artifact headgear at some point. Not a deal breaker, though.

I'm also more annoyed by the lack of hats, although it is a bummer not being able to use the other styles. I've switched back (again) to Miqo for now. I really want to like Viera, but I miss having more options.

For me personally, limited hair isn't that big of a deal since I rarely change mine anyways. As for facial animations, Hrothgar are quite expressive. Often times more so than the other races. That's my opinion and I'm very much enjoying them. I never wear hats so I don't mind that either.

I thought I might be sad about it when it was first disclosed. But I have a hairstyle I absolutely love and a set of horns that look awesome, so I'm surprisingly content with what I have.

It's depressing. More headgear I can do without (I honestly only ever put on eyewear, all of which is available right now), but I really, really miss my two favorite cross-race hairstyles. Hoping 5.1 brings some to Viera, as well as much-needed job changes.

Tbh I'm more curious about the hairstyles/faces they [allegedly] plan to add in the future, but I already like my kitty as is.

As for the emotes, I may be biased, but I feel my Hroth has a wider facial expression range than my Viera. Aside from the limitation of hair and headgear they really put effort on making them and aren't just a Roe with a lion mask, and I absolutely love it. /thumbsup

Feeling pretty meh, a little disappointed. Love the race, but wish we had more options.

Also I miss some of my hats. :(

I'm more concerned with how SE handled both viera and hrothgar. The animations were actually kind of stiff, in relation to class animations. Their smile, at least with the face options I used was barely that. You could actually barely tell my girl was smiling in a lot of cutscenes; lack of expression. Kind of like they had a bunch of botox or something in their face is how I would describe it. However besides all of that, if they had come out like a proper race I would still probably be playing my girl right now. A lot disappointed.

Hrothgar I can't comment, but the fact they have to use a fantasia to change anything semi-significant on their character is inexcusable, especially when they proclaim that new faces will be added for them (in response to hair) - which translates to give us more money if you want to use these on the race you play.

I like my hair but wish for more options/diversity since a lot other bunnies use it too
I don't mind not having all the shared hair atm, since for the longest time I played Au ra and used a race gated hair style, so I'm nor particularly attached to shared styles

As for hats/helmets, I only ever used a beach hat for screenshots or chilling at the beach and rarely used helmets at all so that's no big deal for me

^ This is probably my single biggest complaint with Hrothgar, it just feels sleezy despite having the same amount of options the fact hairstyles are fantasia only so any new ones can only be tried out in CC unless you have to acquire in game is just urgh.

Despite the negative i find Hrothgar well done even though they are not complete (Until all head gear is made available both half races are unfinished in my eyes), they are expressive enough and add a good spice of uniqueness in characters.

I've gotten over the lack of hair options in Hrothgar. I rarely changed hair anyway, when I was Roe and Lala.

The thing I'm a bit more concerned with, as Hrothgar, is that our hair options is tied to face type, so if I wanted to cycle between my two hair choices, I'd need to Fantasia that, and that's not cool. Not that I'd ever change it personally, but it feels like an extra cost on an already limited deal.

It’s a little concerning that Viera don’t have access to a lot more hairstyles and hats, but I personally don’t mind. As an Au Ra I stuck to one hairstyle usually and wore flowers/circlets 99% of the time, so it’s no big change now that I’m a Viera.

I’m hopeful that changes will come in the future though, so for now I’m patiently waiting :o

Overall I'm happy with Hrothgar, I just wish they would work on bringing all the existing hairstyles and hats overtime. They are a big and powerful company, they shouldn't be giving us limited content they should at least acknowledge that they will be working on bringing what is missing overtime.

The lack of being able to wear hats saddens me (I miss my cowboy hat), but outside of that I love how expressive Hrothgar are, and how they look good in almost anything. I'm hoping for more helms to be visible in 5.1, and perhaps a few new hair styles per face. Also, take a look at the /stagger emote for Hrothgar when you get the chance, they literally shake at the end of it like they're trying to get water off them and it's absolutely adorable.

While Viera's situation is disappointing and has some hope to be improved in the future with new racial hairs, Hrothgar are in an unacceptable state. The minimum they should do is warn people when they buy fantasias of how they will not be able to choose between the 2 hairs each face has. Why even create that limitation anyway?

Instead they have been dismissive, and it seems like it's just a "yeah, you'll get them eventually" kind of response. That irks me when we paid good money for these races, and they were heavily advertised for the expansion - not to mention no warnings about their limitations anywhere, including the mogstation. In my opinion, they should be working on these races overtime. They released an unfinished product, but supposedly claim it's finished - I'm not even talking about the missing genders either.

Yeah, for sure. It was a design decision since they were a beast race, apparently, according to them. I honestly don't believe it, after seeing a picture somewhere in another thread that's buried now. I think they were just rushing to get it done, and did this rather than complete it properly, because they were out of time, and they doubled down. That's just a conspiracy of mine though. Fit faces to hair instead of hair to all of the faces to save on time.

I miss my Matoya hat. Otherwise I'm doing okay, 'cause this hairstyle I have is the one I've wanted on my roegadyn since Lightning hairstyle became a thing. But since she can't have it, Imma be a bunny.

Repeating what's been said mostly but I'm actually comfortable where I am - even as a Midlander I only changed my hair a grand total of once (and that was after the hair from the Ivalice raids came out, I'd been looking for a ponytail I liked on him for ages). But I do agree that in the future when more styles come out that I do object to needing a Fantasia to change one's hairstyle; while I've no real intention of doing so, I feel for those who like to change styles on a regular basis. Hats are the same way for me - I rarely turned on my headgear (save for my DRK, because he had to be as edge-lordy as possible in his PVP lynxliege set), but again there are those who like their various hats. Me? I'm quite content with experimenting with different glasses and shades on my Hrothgar. So yeah, I think my final opinion is "I'm fine, but I do hope they expand options for those who want more."

As for expressiveness, I think that Hrothgar are probably the best at it by a long shot. Our emotes have so much energy to them, and they just make me smile. :3

Doesn't bother me at all

I'm quite happy with the hairstyle I have and I never really change hairstyles in any game anyway. That said, I definitely hope they figure out how to fix the issue with not being able to change them without using a Fantasia, because that's pretty ridiculous.

And Hrothgar are very expressive. I was surprised by how well the character artists and animators handled their expressions since a lot of games don't do expressive animal faces well.

Hairstyles--
Its whatever, I guess MEH to answer the question. I at least got 1 I like. And YoshiP said they are working on making more that will be exclusive to them. So Im not sweatin here.

Expressions--
They are alot better then you would think. The Hrothgar face models despite being Beastal, and CATS for that matter, have alot more range then you'd expect.
They pretty clearly show emotion.

Im sure they will my man. Once they make more options, I know they will also work on giving the Hrothgar (and viera I guess) ways to get Haircuts/Change their Hair/Manes without spending $10 IRL.

I wanted to like Vieras but I can't get past the cover girl expressions they have. Which makes it double bad that I can't use the hairs I gotten with my miqo girl. So I tried Viera for an hour and went back to miqo. I need to have hats and other hairs. Tho this will never changed I DO wish Viera's emote animations were abit more expressive. WAY too reserved for me. But then again this is why I'm staying miqo. They look better in cutsences with emotion. imho

I can live with limited hairstyles as a Hrothgar but the need to fantasia to change it drives me insane right now. I wanted to try some hairstyles this weekend with some glams I have but unable to do so.

On the subject of expressions on Hrothgar, they're fantastic. It's like they bring more life to their smiles and frowns than other races.

I miss wearing some hats like the red mage chapeau. Other than that I don’t care.

I'm patient but I seriuosly hope we will get a few for 5.1. I hope we get not only racial styles but some of the paid for/earned in game styles.

I'm impatient, and the way it's been answered doesn't really satisfy me.
I've got a cash shop hair and an earned hair I really want access to. I can "live" with the hair i've got atm, but it's really not what I want. I really hope we don't have to wait too long.
Other than that i'm pretty happy with viera, and i'm honestly good with the emotes.

More hats and hair would be nice, but I'm just so gosh-darned pretty that I can make do.

I made a viera alt until they decide to add more hairstyles,but so far the current options are worth being one.
As someone else mentioned atleast the artifact headgear SHOULD be useable atleast,specially them Wizard/Witch hats xD

Alright, so I don't care about hats or helms, I normally wear eye wear.
But I ran into 2 problems.
1- The face I like (3) doesn't have a hair style I like and for w/e reason they gave em gray fangs. I tried to deal with it but really, I don't like either hair style on it and even though I rarely if even change hair I at least always LIKE the hair I pick.
2- The fact that you need a Potion to change hair is deplorable.

Other than that? I love em. Expressive AF. Had to change my main back female cause I missed having a female character and instead of making one who lacks all the goodies I've collected for females over the years and letting that go to waste on a toon that will never be able to use em I decided it's best to make a new character for Hrothgar. Plus if he's 2nd toon then I wont be AS pissed off that I need a potion to change his hair. Made my new cat man today and he's gonna learn how to punch stuff.

They can’t even choose between the two hairstyles that are linked to the face they chose.

Literally the only thing I'm bummed about on my bunny. If my RDM could at least wear the tricorne from both the 80 relic and RDM pimp hat from 70, I'd have been happy. Otherwise, I don't even bother putting head as seen unless it's using glasses. I don't wear head pieces for the most part (even when I am on a race that can), and that's really the only ones I want. RDM lol.

The few hair options are a bit disappointing, but there are some really good ones in there. The one I have on my character is really nice, and am a fan of it. I just hope that they will eventually give us at least the mog station hairpieces though.

I LITERALLY had my face covered with the Chocobo Mask ever since they came out with the option to Glamour things (Had the legacy helmet from 1.0. Biiig Chocobo enthusiast!) So I'm not really sure how Expressive the other races I've been were. (Miq, Roe, and Au'Ra)

While I miss my Chocobo helmet a ton, this Expansion hes been very different in how I play it so the lack of the helmet isnt a deal breaker (Really hoping it gets added later though!)

I've really been enjoying the Expressions that Hrothgar can make! I thought that they would be pretty stone faced and serious during every situation, but the dang smile/grin/shocked faces looks great!

SE: We're not letting Hrothgar (and Viera) wear helmets because it'll block the faces we worked so hard to look unique

Also SE: We tied Hrothgar's hair to the face and slotted fur patterns to the Aesthetician, even though 75% of people won't see the fur patterns because of body armor

I like my Viera, a lot, I think I made her the exact point of sultry and aloof that I wanted. That said, as someone who changes their hairstyle, color and make-up every 2-3 weeks, it's a little painful how my selection is so limited and I only like 2 options, 3 if we include bangs.

I'ma bit miffed on the hat issue since I love my RDM hat, and now it doesn't show. Fortunately, most of my glamours use circlets or glasses, so those are good. But it's jarring when the hats I DID use just...don't work anymore...
