Off hand weapons

So only GLD/PLD and early CNJ/WHM THM/BLM only really use them so I just kinda thought

MNK/NIN so basically if you equip their weapon both slots get filled. However you can glamour their off hand slot to mix and match different weapons? Kinda like how NIN Thancred used a piece of sharpened stone as his secondary dagger. So a MNK could have a claw in one hand and an emperor's fist in the other.

BRD could be the Harp they use. The BRD teacher uses the relic Harp as his. So why can't we?

MCH the big box on their hip. Perfect way to add in an emperor's MCH off hand. Maybe even some other ones? Like an Allagan one, Moogle one, etc

All cosmetic though, so no need to balance stats for them all.

I don't know if glamour could work in the system if they're not separate items. And separating them would just mean more hassle to collect and to store.

Hmmm that's true. I was just kinda thinking if you had a pair of iron knives you could change the appearance of the left one using another pair of knives.

Off hand slot is honestly how I think Summoners Egi-Glamour system should have been worked, rather than the lame text command we got;

Carbuncle Ruby (Dyable) equipped = you summon Carbuncle.
Inferno Gem equipped = you summon Ifrit-Egi, for the caster and tank variant as well.
and so on

Could even have added some additional lite-content to the game, depending how SE saw fit to have us obtain such items. Personally I'd have made them EX drops, giving some new purpose to do them outside the weekly Khloe book. Ifrit/Garuda/Titan would all probably be quest related drops, but going forward with more Egi glamours you could have had them drop from their respective Primal fight at least.

I made a thread about this a long time ago, but only for ninjas in mind. So, the idea is to have your main weapon in your main hand, while having glamour weapon in your off-hand, like you said. But I've learned just how limited this game is and have concluded that it just can't be done, so they won't do it.

So the next best thing is for them to start making mismatching weapon sets. Tsukuyomi's Kunai has only three colors: black, white and bronze. They switched up the black and white so that each dagger looked slightly different.

If they can do that much, then they can at least try to mismatch the dual weapons.

Playing Red Mage recently I kinda want to separate the rapier from the floating orb... So many glamor options if these were separate. None of the other dual wielding classes would make sence as you want your weapons to be balanced.

In theory, that sounds like an ideal solution.
In practice, however (and considering how the gear/armory system works), it would bring SMN's average Item Level down. Just like FSH's spearfishing gig.

Counterpoint: The Aetheryte Earring. If they can have an earring which adjusts its item level based on your level, I think it should be possible for them to do something similar for this purpose. Matching the item level of your main hand weapon or your average would be ideal.

A bit of extra work to go into the idea, I'll admit. Worth it to have that extra polish on the game? The text commands just seem really cheap IMO, heck even a UI for egi glamours would be an improvement... I get they said egi glamours are just for one Job and thus will never be a big priority, but then I look at Bard and its Performance options... Same deal, something just for Bard, yet it has so much more polish to it... You can open the actions menu and select/set those Performance actions, the actions themselves have their own animations and UI... Meanwhile egi glamours requires a text command to function and has otherwise been completely forgotten...

Oh, I completely agree with your idea (as well as sharing your views on Egi glamours).
I was just concerned about the "logistics" behind it, is all.

Anything would be better than using text commands at this point (ideally, an exclusive UI; like BRD's Performance), which hopefully they'll get around to in the future...
