Who else thinks better blacklist management is needed?

Any time I'm back in the core world, there's always at least one bot spamming RMT messages. I don't want to see them. I blacklist and report.

Now my blacklist is full.

I have no idea of any of the bots I've added have been removed. If they are removed, why are those spots still full on my blacklist?

Most of the other lists of people have the "Connect" button that checks status, lets you know if they exist. Makes it easy to know that somebody on that list is gone. Here, in the blacklist, no such tool.

Not even a mass removal method. The fastest way to do anything with this is to press 0 0 4 0 on the numpad 200 times.

My dream feature would be for people deleted from the game to be deleted from everywhere in the game as they left.

I think this needs a little help, anybody else agree?

QoL is always nice. My blacklist perpetually sits at 0, though. If I don't want to see it, I don't see it. A bot is spamming? My mind just blocks it and I don't see it.

Automatic removal of deleted accounts would be good. Mass editing options for all such lists would be good. Better automated detection of bots and automatically getting rid of them would be best. I know it's cliche to post something about game dev with "it can't be that hard", but it can't be that hard to detect that a player is beneath the surface of the world.

Better management of ALL lists would be awesome:

Black list: Auto-remove deleted characters, and allow for removal of multiple entries instead of single-target nuking them off the list.

Friend list: Make it two-way - If I delete someone from my friend list, it should remove me from theirs. Auto-remove deleted characters etc.

Blacklisting rmt bots is pointless. They are only around for a couple hours before they logout and make a new one.

Banned accounts don't have their characters removed. You will never know of they are gone unless it was a compromised account the owner reclaimed, and then deleted the bot chars. Rarely happens though.

idk i never add anyone to blacklist. rmt spammers are banned within a day basically so its almost pointless to do so. also they dont set up at the secondary market board in limsa and its always quiet there if they do start to bother me.. hawkers alley or something?

If your blacklist is full because you're blocking shouts, you're spending too much time in limsa.

I want my name to appear greyed out to anyone on my /blist.

If anything, I'd like to be able to add people to my blacklist while I'm in an instanced duty.

While that is true, the annoyance becomes apparent when you're also hanging around for a couple of hours. You could brush it off if you're going for pit stop in a major city but if you're looking to stay longer, chances are you're gonna do your fair share of blacklisting.

In any case, blacklist and friend list mgmt should be a thing, imo. It would be a nice QoL addition.

They need to instantly block any low level player from yelling or saying, well, anything unless in a party the moment more then say 3/4 people report RMT.

Super simple fix honestly. Dont ban or suspend the account until its investigated but at least if low level, block them from chat until investigated immediately. None of this once a day bs. If any legit player is reported for rmt 3/4 times at a low level that fast, then they probably earned it. Cant really say it would be abused if its strictly for low level accounts.

High level accounts rmt wont risk in shouts and anyone abusing it would get suspended anyway. Win win all around

Trial accounts cant shout. They can't party, they cant trade. RMT use stolen accounts and credit cards to buy accounts. Why do you think all those fake twitch streams exist at the moment? Stealing peoples accounts.

Yes but the characters on said accounts used by the rmt are low level, hence the random names. Swap the word trial account around in my last post for any low level “character” and thats all they need to do. Doesnt matter what account type it is.

All that would do is make RMT bots go level a couple times. Then they'd be bypassing it already. Then what? increase the level people cant talk to a higher level than that? cycle continues.

Thats dev thinking, it would get them to stop for at least a day in between instead of five minutes between. A day without say posting is better then 5 minutes. Cant get to 30/40 that quickly.

Requiring new players to get to 30 or 40 to talk is a great way to stop getting new players.

All it would do is make the early game worse for new players. It wouldn't curb bots enough to make it worth it.

It was said lower level players “who are reported 3/4 times for rmt”. Big difference.

My blacklist is empty. I just report the RMT bots, and eventually they come back with new names.
It would be nice if they copied one WoW feature, where, if you report a post, it does a temporary block of that poster for the remainder of your login session, so you don't see them again.

On the flip side, I'd like to be able to have the names of people on my blacklist display a different colour like friends do

They could add groupings like the friend list ones. So you can have a group and just add all the rmt spam to it. Later on when your list gets full you should be able to just delete the entire group at once. That way you can keep people who you added for legit reasons in their own group.

I'd like to be able to leave notes on my blacklist, so I can write why I blocked this person just in case I see them again. I don't wanna have to remember every single one of their names cause they all totally suck. Last time I checked the black list doesn't prevent them from joining your party again.
