The Return of Miss Abilities

Hello all well this is new post and kinda a continuation of an old post a made a long time ago when "Feint" was used a lot hehe
Post I

Anyway i was looking at the new Lance weapon and so far even tough i dont have i would really like to see it in action which is

Gerbald's Redspike
Attack Power : +40, Accuracy : -20

And yes know its kinda weaker than Ifrit or Moogle , i would like for all of you LNC/DRG to take notice in the -20 ACC which its in fact really good for my opinion so far i really love the new Miss Abilities Disembowel with the "Chance to inflict Paralysis." , i don't know about you guys but that a pretty sick ability to put on a mob (regretfully i have yet to test it on a "boss" like CC Princess or Chimera.

Whats your opinion on abilities that require to Miss so far i really love it , and they add a certain touch which i believe its better that Monk since MNK need to "avoid" in order to use certain skill hehe
So far the skill we have are

Feint + Disembowel combo
and
Full Thrust

PS: Please remember to stay on topic this is just a thread to put your opinion on if you like them or not , not to bash to SE about "we need abilities to have a "light" so that when we "miss" when know when to use it.

I already miss plenty with +45 ACC in accessories for my DD jobs.. especially DRG. Personally, I don't think I'd bother with the new lance... I'm spamming feint > disembowel plenty as it is.

Agreed, they really nerfed accuracy with this patch, I can hardly get off a Chaos Thrust combo anymore with Impulse Drive missing so much since it's a low accuracy WS.

I wonder is missing a lot a good or a bad thing i mean with Feint combo we are having a lot of damage output with the combo and full thrust , and about the comment for Chaos Thrust ,well i dont know what to say about it i havent test it much.

I think those weapons are meant to be changed into something better, just my theory not fact. Since all the DoW ones have +attack power and -accuracy. Just doesn't make sense to me that they'd all be the same for multiple classes.

Missing is a good thing, makes the +accuracy gear and materia actually worth something. I just wouldn't want to purposely reduce my accuracy to miss more unless my dps is going to improve. I highly doubt that being able to feint and full thrust would be enough to replace the dps I'm losing by not getting the Chaos Thrust combo off. Though I haven't tested it at all.

I don't mind missing every once in awhile because of the Feint -> Disembowel combo; I think it was a really neat idea once I realized that I actually miss again. I would love to see more combos like this in the future that give unique status effects like this.

Sidebar: I still get off more CT combos than I miss; I think my parses on Ifrit put me between 85-93% still, which is fine for me (no +ACC gear).

Just for ACC info: On DRG I have an extra 100 ACC (double meld Felt Bracers, HQ Electrum Rings, Melancholy Mogfork), and I had a noticeable decrease in misses (parser went from 91% to 98% on Morbol at AV). Trying to do more testing to see what a decent amount would be.

To be honest i dont like to miss even if i do get the feint disembowel combo, if i miss my doomspike im not happy about it and the feint combo doesnt make up for it.

I just notice something... that might be bad or a bug MISS abilities wont "trigger" if they aren't on normal attack for example if i miss a Chaos Thrust and i try to use Feint it wont work >_> sigh .. ok now that sucks

It's because CT is a five-fold attack, so unless all 5 shots miss Feint won't work. I use Feint off of Vorpal(or Impulse? whichever is right before CT) all the time

I can guarantee every one of you with no doubt that you can in fact use Feint for a missed Chaos Thrust hit. I've done it multiple times, maybe you're hitting it late? I'm usually spamming the Feint button right after pressing CT just in case I miss one. Can post SS as proof if necessary, just give me the chance to catch it during a fight.

In order for you to meet the requirements for feint, the last hit from your chaos thrust (out of those 5) must be the one missing.

It's about speed, if you're fast you'll hit Feint before the timer for it runs out, if not then ;/

Also, again on the ACC topic:

It seems like a good all-around amount for ACC is 400 total; I'm sitting at 456 (soon to switch my Mogfork to Ifrit's Harpoon, and buy a Flame Sergeant's Sash, so it should dip to 436 but I'd have the increased dmg. from the Harpoon), and my hit % rarely falls below 98% at a parse, and I usually get 100%. Below is a list of ACC-heavy gear that you can mix/match with other ATK/etc pieces to get the number you're happy with.

Weapon: Melancholy Mogfork
Body: Darklight Corselet
Hands: Felt Bracers (HQ or NQ is fine) melded with ACC materia or Darklight Bracers
Waist: Field Veteran's Belt or Flame Sergeant's Sash (if you have Ul'dah set as your Grand Company)
Feet: Darklight Caligae
Neck: Explorer's Choker
Rings: Electrum Rings (should have these HQ'd, it's easy to do)

Own'd!!! I never thought to spam them after thrust ^^

The only issue I see is, since there is no real GCD on abilities, you just have to wait until the cast or attack animation is completed before you can use Feint. Some animations are longer than others which can make you miss your window on using Feint.

Like other MMOs, Feint should interrupt your current action. Of course if Feint + Disembowl isn't as good a DPS increase as a full CT, then that wouldn't be a good move.

Yeah, for almost every ability I can hit Feint in time without the need to spam it; but for Chaos Thrust I just start spamming it right after hitting the CT button just to make sure I get it if I need to. If I wait till I see the gray text on my screen it's usually too late.

Feint + Disembowel does almost as much dmg. as an unbuffed Doomspike, so it isn't terrible for the tp spent ;/ Full Thrust, from what I've gathered, is a flat 1k tp increase (though, don't take my word on it till I can confirm it ;D), so that's pretty decent if you have another combo off of cooldown and need the tp to use it.
