DRG's can go jump off a bridge. My MNK got the QoL improvements it so desperately needed and I'm beside myself in joy over it.
Now all that remains is fixes for Tornado Kick and SSS and we're golden.
Ah yeah, that's true. I might take Monk for a ride again. I played it almost exclusively in 2.0
Edit: Also you realize they probably often can -and do- jump off bridges amirite? :3
Ninja got trick attacked by the patch notes
The first expansion where Ninja isn't meta.
I am so tired of people always bringing this crap up. Ninja only meta for 99th percentile players. Trick Attack nothing more than an average group buff in most parties as most parties are not optimized that way. And just because it was "meta" for so long in the best of groups doesn't mean it gets to be as trash as it is now. They absolutely destroyed Ninja. Ninja players on suicide watch, morale at an all time low. Great work by the development team, I feel very confident in their ability now!
Just want to be viable. As it is, any ninja who goes through content is gonna be carried. Unless later gear tiers make a difference. (Doubtful)
Honestly I think TA is more harm then good to the class. It’s like the devs don’t know how to balance the class around TA. Maybe give you guys a different utility or lower TA effectiveness, idk I don’t really play NIN but from observing the class lives and dies by TA.
I still want to see something done with trick attack though. E.G. double its duration but halve its buff. In theory it will be the same boost to damage, in practice it will be a nerf to high end play since aligning buffs with it won't yield results as big, whereas in lower end play it will be more of a sidegrade or a slight buff, since it will be easier to land your cooldowns in a 20s window instead of a 10s window. It would go a long way towards evening out Trick Attack's overall impact on groups.
Fun fact: ninja was taken by half the speedkill parties already before the patch, and on some fight like leviathan, their rdps was good enough to place them 5th (blm, mnk, drg, sam, nin). So they even got a slight buff, I can really see a triple melee comp with ninja rising + blm. ranged are dead atm
I'll continue on as NIN. It *is* fun if you manage to stress past the opener and you get to absolutely style on bosses like Quezacotal if you can lag Shukuchi right to him and not having to run the lighting gauntlet.
Does Monk have a similar feel to Ninja? I've really only mained a ninja but I'm tired of feeling like a bastardized support class with a side of DPS.
Monk is a lot more positional and circumstantial with its playstyle. You've gotta move around the enemy far more frequently for individual attacks than you do with Aeolian Edge and Armor Crush because every single one of Monk's regular attacks is positional. A lot of people find Ninja to be extremely busy, but I would also consider Monk very busy, but for different reasons. It's far more user friendly thanks to this update though, and that's going to make it very appealing to lots of people.
Poor NIN ; ; They didn't really do much for SMN either...maybe in 5.1? I am hoping they just need more time to fix these. ><
Ninja shouldn't be crippled in 95% of content because it has a single ability that is "meta" in 5% of content. Of course it should be balanced with utility, but that's not what's happened here. It's being punished for bringing utility.
Trick Attack feels like pre-5.0 Wildfire. If you can't maximize the burst window, you might as well not even bother to play the job because the rest of your damage output is too low.
