The Blacklist features are terrible and here are the reasons why

• Removing someone from your friends list does not remove you from theirs.
  
• You cannot blacklist players who are offline.
  
• You cannot blacklist players via chat commands at all as of the Cross Realm update, as the blacklist now requires the player's server, and the /blist command was never updated to support input regarding a player's server. Nearly 3 year old update by the way.
  
• You cannot blacklist players from the search function.
  
• You cannot blacklist players from the blacklist pane itself, something the in-game FAQ about blacklisting tells you to do.
  
• You cannot blacklist players from Moogle Mail--which, naturally, because you are not removed from their friends list when you remove them, they can still send you letters. Also you can't send letters back to them because you removed them from yours.

The only ways you can blacklist someone is by right clicking their name in chat, by targeting them, or from the recent players pane under "contacts." But if you do not have tells enabled, or otherwise are not exposed to them in chat, you cannot blacklist them. If you do not run a duty with them--which obviously you aren't--you cannot blacklist them. If you do not go physically near them, you cannot blacklist them--which most people who are not wanting to continue contact with someone are going to go out of their way to go find them in the world and it goes without saying that it is deeply uncomfortable.

So if they do something like send you a letter and you don't happen to catch them online, you cannot do anything. You cannot blacklist them. You cannot stop the contact.

People are suffering from serious cases of harassment and/or stalking because systems in place don't do enough. The player should feel reasonably secure in dealing with such matters on their own in-game. They shouldn't have to file multiple GM tickets because the game has not given them anywhere near sufficient enough options to rectify the problems on their own.

And half of the problems are just from severe neglect. You could blacklist people from chat before. You could use the Blacklist interface itself to blacklist people. But ever since the cross world update, you are unable to do this anymore. Why?

FFXIV is an mmo competing with other mmos on the market. Those mmos have social systems in place that are readily available, easy to use, and allow a player to rectify harassment on their own without having to file a ton of GM tickets. Please update and fix the social systems in place so that players do not have to go through such hurdles to enjoy your game.

Bumping because this is a problem that SE needs to fix.

^ also bumping cause square enix for sure needs to do something about this issue, i actually came to the forums today to make this very same post after many ongoing issues i have had with being harassed/stalked ingame for me it's gotten so bad that i no longer feel like even playing the game and everytime i report the person for the various things they keep doing i get told the same thing which is to blacklist them but that only does so much it doesn't stop the various other things that this person has been doing for almost 2 years now and yes i mean that .. seriously 2 years of extremely disturbing behaviors from this individual and yet nothing has ever been done about this , please SE :( do something about this so not only me but other players don't have to go through this kinda thing :(

Happened to me a lot in duty finder where there is one in the party that's on my black list. Then if you drop out you get 30 minute penalty or your force to run a instance with one don't get along with which isn't fair. Had one on my black list once that did sexually harassment to me and had him blocked and still was always able to find me where every I was. He even somehow got my parents email address used for the game and sent porn pictures to it. Finally had to have a GM step in on it. They really need to fix it. I even had my characters name changed and didn't help.

There's a really bad circle jerk in the community that goes from 'black list and move on', going full circle through the methods and arriving at being told to 'toughen up snowflake' after a problem persists long enough.

I agree there needs to be alot more social protection, such as blocking an -entire- user account and not just the character. For some people blacklisting does not stop the harassment. This is the first MMO I've seen to where If they cannot get under your skin, your username will pop up on several other third party websites from savage raiding, PvP or more pettily, roleplay.

Likewise adding user accounts to characters as in game identity such as battle.net or GW2 will cut down on alot of the anonymous harassment and level 1 trolling alts that people love hiding behind.

I'm going to add what I said in a few other topics as far as the blacklist and party finder are concerned:

1. Allow players to right-click on a party finder name and click "Add to Blacklist" if the PF description is not to the players' liking.

2. The parties of the players on the blacklist should go on the back end of the party list where the locked duties are.

Supported. If I don't want to hear a mofo's blabbering but want to continue discussion with other people, I want that. They can continue to do their job. -No-, I'm not sadistic enough to kick them and ruin progress for everyone ... if they are doing their job.

Also, the -insert profanity- macro spammers using 12 lines for some super weeb-moogle stuff shoving up my entire chat sometimes. This happens as I'm trying to teach a party or raid that may be new on lfg. It also pushes up my FC and LP chat.

Inb4 separating party chat from rest of my chats to stop those pushups is not a valid response. Stop placating the aggressors with these kinds of suggestions.

Yup. Somebody I removed from friends list and blacklisted was still able to send me passive aggressive mail with attachments in game. I found out that I was still in their friends list even though I blocked them. I asked a GM for help and they said they can't stop old friends from mailing items to me. It's quite ridiculous that even after unfriending and blocking I'm still in their friends list. Make it so if someone "unfriends" then you're off of each others' lists. The blocked people can also go on alternate toons and talk to me if they wanted to harass. Why isn't the block list account wide anyway?

Today same thing again duty finder puts me in party with a blacklisted player and drop out and have to take the 30 minute penalty. This needs to be fix asap. Its like SE is promoting that's ok to be force to party with a blacklisted player. This is like a teacher not doing anything and lets the bully keep bullying there students.

Agree, this needs to be a double block feature and also be nice you do not get matched with anyone in your blacklist in the duty finder.
