Because why not just kick players until nobody's new so you can skip them?
Don't queue if you're going to complain.
There is honestly only *one* real solution to the MSQ dungeons. Rework them. As they are, they are not fun for *anyone*, vets and new players alike. Vets have seen it dozens of times and are no longer interested, only doing the roulette because of the massive XP / Tomestone bonuses, and new players still feel incredibly rushed through those dungeons, barely feeling like they're even contributing because everything dies so fast. These dungeons are incredibly out-dated and were just plain bad even way back in ARR. They really need to be reworked, either updated to match regular dungeon quality, or, and this would be preferable imo, reworked and retooled to be solo duties, so that new players can do them at their own pace and get the storyline *and* gameplay they want, and vet players don't need to be lured into doing them with bloated rewards.
I find it funny that the popular suggested answer to MSQ roulette taking anywhere from 40-60 minutes to complete due to cutscenes is to simply not queue for it. Honestly, I agree because there are much better ways to farm for those tomes that actually keeps you involved and doesn't have you doing fights that are more boring than the Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak. Maybe once Main Scenario roulette takes 30 minutes or an hour to even get a party for, then SE might consider making the daily reward absurd enough to where people would actually want to do it. I'm personally thinking a good fix may be to make the daily into a weekly that gives 1000 tomes of Poetics & 500 tomes of Goetia.
I run MSQ roulette daily and skip cutscenes for Praetorium all the time, and I've never been reported.
The truth is most people don't really mind with the ability to teleport to the boss room after the lockout.
The fights in the Praetorium aren't exciting enough for most people to care.
When you get reported, a GM isn't going to instantly contact you to say you have had a report against you, but it does go on your record.
In regards to the cutscenes, it's an exploit and against the ToS, this has been confirmed by GMs. If I see you doing it I would report you and so should anyone else, it's not for you to decide how quick the run should go.
I know it's classified as an exploit.
I'm just saying that most players aren't going to bother reporting it.
The 'disruption of gameplay' caused from pulling the trivial boss fights early is so inconsequential that some
people even seem to view the act of doing so as a net positive, shaving time off their run.
Furthermore - Praetorium folks are generally really laid back; and no one seems to take issue with anyone that isn't being an ass or flatout leeching. :)
I'll keep my eyes open for reports while I continue to run the roulette and skip cutscenes I guess?
No need to worry about me starting easy-peasy boss fights early for you.
I don't believe we will ever meet in-game, being on different data-centers and all.
I was just thinking this yesterday running the MSQ roulette for exp for an alt job. I remember getting to these and watching videos of them made back when they were new and then watching in amazement as everything just died and no one did the mechanics, just hosing bosses down. They don't serve the role of capping the 1-50 MSQ anymore, and everyone else is just running them because they give tomestones and massive amounts of exp. They really, really, really are outdated and need a rework of some kind. I know that reworking 1-50 is not really feasible-Blizzard found out the hard way what happens when you rework leveling content in WoW's Cataclysm expac, you sacrifice the endgame to do it-but Castrum and Praetorium need something done to them, full stop.
What the game should do is have a check for the MSQ, if all players have previously completed it or if a pre-made full party queues for it, you should be able to get a cutscene-less version.
And if you skip the cutscenes you will only get one half of the rewards. Or perhaps one third would be more appropriate?
The rewards are high due to the high time requirement for the dungeons, so if you significantly cut down the time needed by skipping cutscenes it is only logical that the rewards should be reduced accordingly.
I have a better idea. How about if people who are not willing to watch the cutscenes simply don't queue for the MSQ roulette?
The easiest solution is to make cut scenes skippable if you unsync either. This way someone powering an alt through or who simply isn't interested in the story can throw up a PF and get one or two level 80s to mow everything down in seconds.
You are very well paid by the Dev (stuff your other job) for take care of newbie in this MSQ Roulette. That's the contract, if you think it's too long, it isn't for you.
For the same amount of poetics by other means you need 2 to 3 roulette: 40 to 60 min of roulette +/-
If you don't like to stay 45 minutes while doing something else during the cutscenes do otherwise.
As those two dungeons currently are no, keep the mandatory cutscenes for all. Anything that makes it so its only mandatory if someone new is there WILL result in either A.) New people being kicked to get unlocked cutscenes, or B.) People leaving because just kicking won't unlock the cutscenes
I do also agree it would probably be for the best to rework both dungeons in some way. Castrum could lose quite a few cutscenes that could be conveyed out-of-cutscene right up until the final boss. Prae is the harder one due to there being quite a bit of character linking during the back half though at least a couple scenes could still be done out-of-cutscene in comparison. Cid could tell you they found Maggie while you are getting your key/on the way up the elevator for example, with the cutscene to actually get her being much shorter due to it.
Do something else while you are running it? That's what I do.
And is anyone really running it for the "New Player" bonus?
Lol to actually openly suggest here how to skip the scenes... to admit doing it all the time... that is so low. the deal is do it as is or just do smt else like highest dungoen x2-3
...idk why ppl rly are like this...
