Do you think the level cap will be raised to 100 or 99, fitting previous FF games?
Most likely. FFXI was stuck at a level 75 cap for.. at least 6-7 years really (and was only raised beyond that when it's original producer left after the FFXIV 1.0 debacle and a new team was brought in), and is now at level 99. ARR will probably end up at 100 to make it nice and even, and will then probably follow FFXI's lead and have something like FFXI's 'Merit Points'/'Job Points' to further personalize your character beyond that.
We still have quite a long time to go before we reach that point though.
Well it will depend on whether they believe 'Tradition' or 'Formula' is the more important thing to follow. If it is 'Formula', then they would want the 5 levelling dungeons at 91,93,95,97,99 and thus 100 would probs be the cap. If it is 'Tradition', then they would have to change the 'Formula' (not that they haven't done that before).
Just would also like to note that not all of the 'early' FF games had a level cap of 99, FFVIII did allow players to get to lvl100 (though it is the only mainline FF game I can find where this was the case).
Depends if they decide to get smart and do a content expansion instead of a leveling one.
I shudder at the exp requirement to get to 99, let alone 100, in this game; let alone how many more jobs we'll all have to max out.
Either way I'll be sure to level up everything to cap
I say 4 more if they keep it at 2 jobs per expansion, with at least 1 of them being a healer, and most likely the other 3 being some form of DPS. Not counting Limited Jobs.
And if they keep in the pattern set by SB and ShB, then the jobs introduced in 6.0 will begin at lvl70, while the jobs in 7.0 will begin at lvl80.
7.0, still running Preatorium MSQ roulletes for exp xD.
when you focus so much on vertical growth you end up in the same hole wow is in, you gotta have a balance
Can I be selfish and say I hope it ends at 7.0? I want a tidy ending to the epic story, not many loose ends and just an overall complete feeling. I dont want the game to carry on with new bad guys for the sake of keeping th game alive. That is not a very Final Fantasy thing. I hope they release another MMO to start a new fresh story with upgraded everything.
While you are right, there is one major difference between WoW and FF14: Level sync. WoW has timewalking, but it's a very pale imitation. With FF14's level sync system, we only ever get *more* content to run, not less, while WoW only ever has as much content as the latest expansion allows. Granted we aren't exactly running lower level content for gear upgrades or anything, but it's still an optional bit of fun that WoW does not have, plus glamour is the true endgame anyway.
