Another GNB SFX Thread

Hi there,

so this is my first time I actually post something in the forum, so I am sorry for my bad english.
I was really surprise that they change the GNB SFX because I was enjoying the new content and I didnt notice there were people complaining about the old SFX.
In my opinion I like the old SFX better then the new ones because they were more impactful and has something slicing in it but if you like the new SFX, thats fine for me since its a personal opinion and there is no reason to discuss with that.
So here is my thought, I dont know if its possible though:

Maybe its possible to create a chat-command to freely change the GNB SFX from
old to new one. Like they have done it to Bahamut-Size. So that every player hear
the GNB SFX differently based on there setting. The command could be , I dont
know: /gnbsfx old or /gnbsfx new .

I really wish it would be possible. I guess that would make everyone happy.
So tell me your thoughts about this and if you would support this, leave a like^^.

Not sure its possible for a sound tbh. I'd rather they just revert to the old and increase the isolated explosions so they're evened out. Leave the aoe's, lightning shot, and rough divide though, they're the only ones that sound good now. On top of this, people will whine "GNB got alternate optional SFX, why can't this job too?" nonsense. Considering they apparently change things when a handful of people whine here on the forums, you just know you'll hear plenty of that about other jobs.

I think they should revert it without any other changes. Developers know what are they doing. They "calculated" how gunblade works in FFXIV, and made perfectly fitting sounds. Gunblade is not a big sword, and it allows for very swift attacks. In original sounds you could hear slicing, pulling the trigger, mechanical sounds of the gunblade, and of course explosions.
It can't sound like hammer or club. Even DRK sword doesn't feel that heavy. And explosions can't be too loud because it would be irritating very soon.

I think GNB is a victim of nostalgia. We are not in FFVIII. We are not Squall or any other dude from this game. And keep in mind this game has pretty much over 20 years now, so sound quality was certainly low.
Developers shouldn't make such drastic changes so fast only because vocal minority had issues. I bet they would stop whining pretty soon and enjoy the perfection of GNB. Perfection which is currently lost.

Just like how it is now. 3rd day of this and I don't even wanna run content now with it despite it being my main.

Also, major props to the 2nd part of your post. I'm a FF8 fan, one and only for me and I have to agree 100%... I liked how unique they had the sounds. It captured the idea of the gunblade without it "copying" directly from a source like FF8 or Dissidia. It slashed fluidly and had explosions to emphasize each hit, not as some sorta explosion demolitionist job. Even now, if you sheathe and unsheathe the weapon, THAT is the sound the blade should feel like, light and crisp like it was but still carrying weight of momentum and fluid combinations from strike to strike.

I've also sent in both a bug report and a suggestion regarding GNB's sounds. Mine suggests to keep Lightning Shot, all of our aoe skills, and rough divide as is, but reverting everything else back to the old way with the explosions themselves raised in volume just a bit to match the volume of the slices/slashes.

Please change it back SE.... please? :(

I hope they do change it back or at least add the slicing sound effects back. It's terrible as it is right now.

While a marriage of two parts of separate SFX might be a bit out of the realms of possibility, I think it would be easier if the team just reverted to the old SFX rather than this new one!

They are earning millions upon millions, there are people who could do it in about 1 hour.

Possibly! But I don't know much about sound design myself, I do know what I like and don't like though, and I don't like the new sounds! Hah!

I have zero problem with people not liking the changes to the GNB sfx and wanting them to be changed back or generally improved. All cool with that and please do express your opinion on this matter so that the devs can take it into consideration.
However .....
Do we really need so many individual threads on this exact topic? More than half the first page is made up of these threads saying the exact same thing. Please just reply to existing threads instead of creating new ones, especially when they are right there on the first page. Thanks.

What absolutely amazes me is how they have resued the same (slightly very slightly altered) sound effect for all of our 6 skills in gnashing fang combo.
Someone who edited it probably do not play any games at all, its annoying its cheap its super bad and i am already tired of hearing the same sound 6 times every 30 seconds.

My ears are going to bleed if i play it anymore.

Tbh, while I agree with you here... Part of me thinks this at least will show how a minority was complaining about this and how there is a VAST majority coming here flooding the forums with this complaint. To put it metaphorically, you can sign a petition that shows your displeasure for a building, or everyone can straight up barge in and speak together as one than just handing over a single sheet with 50 signatures. The sheet speaks, but the other option is genuine immediate action and true unbridled discomfort that must need to take more immediate action. You get a petition, you're gonna nod your head and go "eh, okay I'll work on it". You see 50 people stampeding at you with the same issue, you're gonna go "OKAYOKAY!!!! I GET IT!!!". And yes.. it is THAT bad.
