Previously Missed Event Gear

I was wondering if we will ever be given the chance to get some of the event gear again at some point before 2.0 comes? Unfortunately due to some PC problems I missed out on the Christmas reindeer gear and the dragon head gear I was hoping that maybe in some way we would be given the chance to get them again before the big 2.0. Possibly as rewards in the GC or some way to earn them. I know a few others that are missing some that would like some of them and were trying to collect them.

I sure hope not.

I'm missing the dragon helmets myself and I regret not getting them, but if people can just get the old event gear it kind of spoils the fun for me. I like event gear to be exclusive to that event, a sort of "I was playing at this time" kind of thing.

I understand where your coming from but as someone who has been playing since launch and collecting them I hate the idea of missing out because of PC issues.

Already been said they aren't doing it, and for the exact reason Sol mentioned - it shows that you were playing at the time.

They have plenty of seasonal events throughout each year, so it's no biggy.

I missed the st valentine's items due to the game being so unappealing. Now it's back on its good side it echos in the back of my head every time I log in.

I also missed the special necklace from the grand companies due to not knowing it even existed. Seriously. They should have advertised that better man.

Anyway,
I don't know how I feel about this. I love how there are some limited edition events and prizes, but I don't think it should be the seasonal ones.
I think they should keep all quests and add to that the current year's new ones. So eventually christmas for example, would mean a lot of cool things to do for new players and not just one thing.

I wonder how long will they be able to keep this up having already given away the santa suit. Thats a christmas staple right there.

And I would see where you're coming from if you were missing out on anything but... Most events last quite a while (10 days or even 2 weeks) and the items are purely cosmetic 100% of the time.

There's just no point in making them events if you can get the same stuff later on.

I'd support them adding a chance to get the older ones during the new events. At least before 2.0 for those who stuck with the game through all the hard times.

Problem is there is also achievements attached to the events.

It's unlikely...

That's not the problem, that's the whole point.

if they do recycle the gear it wont be the next year, i wouldnt doubt them eventualy recycling it, but not back to back

Well personally I don't like the fact that there is now unobtainable achievements sitting in my list. Like I said I'd also just like the gear I enjoy collecting the event stuff so due to unforeseen circumstances I guess I miss out.

Lets be honest, you can't have an xmass event without people in santa suits. In a year or two people will totally rage.

It will tick every single new players. It's a price they have to pay for missing out, it's something we can show off as players that stuck along.

I can definitely agree with you on that. But then again you have the option to ignore achievements entirely.

they will do those events again eventualy, in the end they will probably end up with 2-3 total events that cycle year by year(so event the 2011 event may rehappen in 2013-2014 and youll get what ya missed) and so on

I don't think that's the case though, like on xmass you couldn't get the santa outfit anymore. You could only get the reindeer one.

yeah, cuz its a new event this year, the 2010 event and 2011 event are different

but the 2010 event may repeat in lets say...2013(followed by the 2011 event being repeated in 2014)

I'm still holding on to all my dream material. I hope you can still make santa suits out of it :D

Since I have all the event gear, I really don't care either way.

However I wouldn't feel like it detracts from the value of my previously obtained event items if someone else can obtain them the next year or in all future years.

I'm throwing in for not recycling them. Like others have said, it proves that a few of us stuck through the bad times to get where we are. It's really a shame that you had PC problems, and I understand that it's annoying to be locked out because of that, but if they did allow anyone to just buy the event items, what would be the point of the event. The events would become boring and meaningless, just like they were after the second reappearance of Tanaka's bells.

Also think of the precedent it would set. If they let us just get old stuff, then why shouldn't they also give out goobbhue mounts to people who join in 2.0. They'd have no good reason not to.

Anyway, rant off. I don't want old gear being given out again. Yes I'm a special snowflake, yes I have a complex.
