And in fact I think the trigger actions could have an even better sound than the old ones, too. Don't even get me started on the many other SHB actions that are way too quiet like Confiteor, Afflatus Misery, Edge/Flood of Shadow/Darkness ect.

If that happens, you'll get every other GNB player, who was dissatisfied prior to the change, asking for the same thing. It's a never-ending cycle. Someone is always going to be unhappy.
Tbh, even some of the whiners are saying this is even worse. They shouldn't have "altered" anything, rather they should have just adjusted the volume of JUST the explosions themselves to match the volume of the slashes. Idk why they went to so much effort for so few of a player base asking for this change tbh, it really wasn't that bad and now its friggin horrifying. I'm not even wanting to run content now because I sound like a bat hitting an empty cardboard box.
To prove my point, I dare someone to say that "Solid Barrel" sounds better NOW, than it did before. Meaning, it sounds better now with the empty heavy cardboard wump sound, than it did with the slicing and compounding explosion coupled with the trigger pull sound. FIND ONE.

"too quiet" ? They are way louder and impactful than the old ones. I am almost beginning to wonder if we all have the same sounds.
The old crisp steel sounds just needed more impactful gun sounds along with them to be permanent.
Pretty sure he's referring to ya know... the blade part.. of this now cannon we're beating cardboard boxes with. Ya know, the thing we're supposed to be slashing with underneath this pile of michael bay farts that's forcing me to watch my hotbar now from the sheer blend of farts muffled throughout everything I run now.
At first I was confused and thought the first sounds in that Twitter video were the old sounds and the new ones were shown second. I thought, "Huh? The new sounds seem better to me."
Then I realized they were opposite and I liked the old ones more.
He did them in an odd order didn't he. I think I had the same exact thing happen to me too. Isn't it interesting though how that happens, some people have fallen for that too saying "but new ones sound good?" and I remind them which ones are the new ones. Gotta love when people say whats new is good but then side by side they cant tell which was which, they only know the latter sounded better in that. A lot of people are also falling victim to the gnashing fang combo "sounding good" because they forget what the old sounded like and assume louder explosions = better combo altogether.
I did my part and left a suggestion in game, and I suggest that others do as well. Maybe with enough feedback they will listen and change the SFX back.
Please change it back SE.... please? :(
I absolutely hate the new sounds. The slicing effect felt great but now I cant distinguish any sounds over the over sounds of the battle, and overall it feels like I'm fighting underwater now (the way the sound is distorted).
The only way I can explain the "fix" they made is to simply apply an effect over the existing sounds. The result is a garbled mess.
I, too, did my part and left a suggestion ingame for the development team. Hopefully if enough people do so it'll be forwarded to the actual development team.
I don't think that's a reason for people to not voice their disdain for the new voices, but ultimately it's up to the team to decide which side of the fence they wish to side on, or compromise between the two somehow.
That said, personally I very, very much dislike the new sounds. Specifically, I dislike all the slashes of the new sounds in particular, but the new explosive sound isn't in my opinion worse than the original. Just different. But the new slashing sounds, sound like I am using a mallet to hit things rather than me trying to cut anything.
If the matched the old slashing sounds with the new explosive sounds, I think that'd be okay, personally. But just... not this, not what we have now.
Here's to hoping the devs see all this and the JP's thread.
should've never changed them. I NEVER seen this many threads on a single subject ever. this is bigger then the male vieras.
Idk about that last bit.... I think that's still a bit higher on the "we want equality for each race" list. This is more like, they introduced and showed us this promising job with all of its things already for months.... within 2 weeks release only a few people whine about something minuscule and minute.... and we get a complete change of the sounds for the worse despite no one really wanting them to change to begin with. It enraged everyone playing the job, its enraged people just now picking up the job, its just... not a good patch or was ever worth patching in the first place.
I rushed the Gunbreaker Job to do Shadowbringers on it. Loved it a lot, thought I had found my calling!
... Then that regretable update happened.
... ... I do not feel like playing Gunbreaker anymore, it's soul is gone.
... ... ... I think I'll be a Samurai until it reverses. At least, they still have blades, not foam bats.

reminder to everyone, like that comment, get it noticed.
If you have a character that hasn't picked up GNB yet, go and do so. The Hrothgar job tutor dude? In the first cutscene you see a GNB in action in [location of hawthorne hut aetheryte] they use the original sounds for the basic 123 combo.
I wonder if the people who think this sounds all right are playing with terrible sound systems.
I played on my laptop today, and thus was using the built-in laptop speakers, which sound like tin cans. I could actually hear the knife sound in the Keen Edge combo, because my laptop speakers are so bad and cannot produce any bass thus the low-quality "explosion sounds" weren't overpowering everything else.
On my desktop PC, which has an actual good speaker set up, with nice speakers and a subwoofer, the Keen Edge combo sounds absolutely terrible. It sounds like a muddy pile of cardboard sounds.
I still just want the sound effects reverted to how they sounded at launch. The speakers and headphones I use 99.99% of the time are very good quality and these 5.01 patch sounds are terrible on an actual good setup.
No official reply about this yet?
I wish they'd give a little nod or something, hopefully next patch they address the issue?
They changed it without saying anything, don't expect them to say whether or not they'll revert the sounds or make any further adjustments.
I read in the live letter thread after 2 posts with several likes regarding the "new sounds" they said something about jobs receiving updates next patch. Now, this could just be all around potency changes and skill changes but this COULD include the SFX changes to gunbreaker's skill set. So... fingers crossed.
I just started levelling GNB today after remembering how cool it sounded and felt when playing as that certain NPC in the story, but now I really don’t have a care for it... it sounds like we’re missing whatever we’re trying to hit and it’s a wiff of air, it’s really bad.
2 more days... cross your fingers guys.....
Well I hope they do because they're horrifyingly bad. They know this too and so does 90% of the community. But hey, crossing your fingers to change them too is good <3. We want our BLADES back, not our cardboard being beaten with a stick + bad quality explosions.
I don't think the people before the change were complaining the sounds were bad, they were just saying the sounds would be ''Even Better If'' and SE went and changed the gunblade to a troll club, it's really mind boggling if it's not a bug
Being smug isn't going to win you any favors, especially when the overwhelming amount of players hate how the gunblade sounds.
This isn't some silly non-issue like the same 5 people crying about male Viera. I'm not happy that it sounds like I'm swinging a hammer around, and I dropped my plans to even play GNB as my main class all together because I can't hear anything in combat.
