I'm just curious what jobs are generally enjoyed the most.. :)
Right now Dancer. But it is the new shiny so I hope that isn’t the reason...
Historically Warrior, but that’s leveled on my old main so no going back unless I buy a skip...
I actually gave up on tanking because while it tends to have short roulette queues, raid statics usually get their friends to be the tanks before they recruit, so if you’re not in a clique getting into a raid as a tank is near impossible...
PLD best job. I'm totally not biased at all *cough*
Dancer for sure, I love being a support and a mix between ranged and melee. Coming from someone who has played healers for a long time, it feels oh so refreshing. I don’t have to hawk-eye health bars anymore and the skills are so pretty.
Currently RDM honestly. It barely changed and there's something kinda vindictively satisfying about dragging bad players kicking and screaming through content as a verraise-bot.
Do you guys like Bard?
I got DNC to 80 thinking I'd main it but now I'm enjoying the new MCH even more, so yeah. I'm not sure yet. I'll get back to you later lol
Paladin, though it took a while to get there. SB and SHB have done a lot to flesh it out. I'm just a sucker for the sword and board I guess. I just wish it had some good job quest storylines.
Summoner. The idea of infecting an enemy with a magical virus, slowly whittling their life force from within and further exploiting said virus with spells that feed upon their effects is appealing in a way that might seem a touch worrying if thought upon for too long. Add in the ability to make manifest a giant F-off dragon and there you go.
I think red mage, dancer and samurai are the most fun jobs. All relatively new jobs. I think it's a sign that over time jobs just get unneeded complexity added to them. Too many buttons to push. Too many things to keep track of.
I liked Bard in ARR. Now Bard feels bloated. Bloodletter, empyreal arrow, sidewinder, pitch perfect, apex arrow. It's ridiculous how many different procs you have to keep track of. Along with your dots and your song timer. The job is a mess.
WHM, even when it can feel a bit too....kawaii for my taste at times, but it is what it is lol. DNC also quickly became my go-to DPS job, sorry RDM.
RDM was my main dps last expansion with WHM as healer. So far I'm really enjoying DNC tho, it might end up replacing RDM for me, depending how I feel about it when I get it all the way to 80.
RDM for life. Love playing a caster/melee hybrid. But dancer honestly makes me feel OP. Flinging Chakras from range, then charging in to do AOE, and singlehandedly wiping out packs of mobs while in groups. My dancer is still only level 61 but doing Final Steps of Faith has never been easier. I was literally jumping around behind the raid lighting up Nidhogg laughing in real life. It was so much fun.
This could honestly be because I'm doing HW content and by the time I get to ShB content it will feel much more balanced. But holy crap, the HW stuff is a total breeze.
Samurai and Machinist
Blackmage. Always loved the idea of mages and magic so it keeps pulling me back. Though I am still working on mastering the rotation and timings. I have been wanting to main it to a pro status for years but keep getting discouraged when I screw up in group content. Though I know not a good indicator, was nice seeing my threat at a 2 pretty much the whole fight with Titania Normal.
Explosions
I'm really enjoying Gunbreaker, but also White Mage and Black Mage this time around. I enjoyed Black Mage a lot in Stormblood, but White Mage was missing something to work towards, and the lilies make the job really engaging to be honest.
I have been loyal to WHM and PLD since 2.0. Those are the only two jobs I focus on first before any else.
Dragoon. Even if my mains keep altering, dragoon is never not fun. And I like it so much that my other character is mainly dragoon.
Prior to Shadowrbingers it was Ninja. I love the mix of melee and "magic". I played through the Shadowbringers story and got Ninja to 80...and I'm not sure I love it as much anymore. It genuinely feels weaker and I thought I would like the changes, but I kind of miss the old flow that its rotation had.
Right now I think Machinist is my favorite to play. At first I was concerned with how many abilities were trimmed off, but what it does have definitely keeps me busy. I like the mobility and animations, and that it feels like a Machinist rather than a gunner with a turret. So far it's been a lot of fun.
Machinist is a Heavensward job, you just need to have access to Ishgard.
Ninja is still a great job, and style-wise it's what I really enjoy. It's fast and there's a lot to do (I like "busy" jobs). My gripe is only a comparison to what it was prior to Shadowbringers. It's not bad by any means, it just feels weaker than it was and it's heavier on the "casting" aspect rather than the melee where it was the other way around before.
MCH, it has the perfect balance of head slamming on demand huge hitting skills that not only visually work but the numbers back up the sploshions. Nothing is better than waiting for the adds to pop up in DF or EX and slamming the hammer and watching that HP disappear.
SB Summoner.
Right now, I'm shopping for a new main. :(
White Mage is my favorite but it has been since about level 30 on. I started as Arcanist with the intent of going Scholar (and did play Scholar quite a bit around 30) but this was back when we had cross-class skills and I needed to level Conjurer up to 34 which I didn't mind because I enjoy healing and leveling healers is easy via dungeons. White Mage was simple... it still kind of is, but I appreciate simple. Shadowbringers just made White Mage awesome though. While I miss abilities like Aero III, Protect, and the old Stoneskin, I really like the current White Mage kit. I have instant heals for days thanks to the new lilies which all feed into the blood lily for misery goodness. I don't have to keep track of cards like AST or manage Aetherflow and fairy abilities like SCH. I can just Holy like there's no tomorrow and always have a quick heal when needed.
I love Astrologian. The skill animation is so beautiful. I love stargazing and seeing the planets aligning in the galaxy. Also I love Tarot/Arcana Card even just for fun.
I also like watching people sing and dance so BRD and DNC will always have a place in my heart.
My first job was a Warrior and it's a tank. I love the feeling of being useful to the party in dungeons or raids (with three or more commendations afterwards feels so wholesome lol). I'm planning to max all the tanks after I max Gunbreaker. :D
I don't really know where it's popularity stands, but Monk has never done me wrong; it has always felt rewarding and one that demands quite a lot of my attention.
Which is good because i become unfocused very easily, and Monk can't play well being unfocused.
It's also one of the few combat Job's that suffer from the use of skill-macro'ing; which thankfully i do not us, but the trade-off to not using macros is sentencing my fingers to the very pit of hades.
Playing a Monk in Eureka was not fun for my hands. I often wish i was a Ps4 player so i wouldn't have to use an evil keyboard- ...my fingers pine for relief.
Still...
Monk is life.
Also fishing.
I am a main Paladin and Scholar, and both jobs are so amazing in Shadowbringers! I am pleased with the changes, specially with the Paladin improvements.
My main is my paladin and i'll tank anything. (Except extreme and Savage content due to personal reasons)
I particularly like Paladin so I'd say that's my fav :D.
Having played the other jobs (to varying levels) I'd probably say Summoner, Red Mage, and Dancer follow in no particular order after my main. I like most of the jobs though, would probably be easier to say which jobs I don't fancy leveling lol.
Well... it was Astro... rip *moment of silence
I wish I could say bluemage. It's always been my favorite ff job. But for 14 it's RDM. I like being able to jump in and out of melee range and do damage. Not gonna lie I miss alot of FFXI jobs. While we have the job names here they've been adapted to work here so thier not all the same (which isn't a bad thing, this game is nothing like XI). I've currently leveled everything to 71 (rdm being my first 80) so I guess I'm partial to it.
White Mage right now (RIP Astro) but i just started leveling Scholar from 70 to 80 so it might change.
Ive always loved White Mage. And I am absolutely in love with how it (currently) works in Shadowbringers.
The reword and adjustments of the Lili System are SO much better.
Favorite, So hard to pick just one, so....
Tank- PLD (Though GNB is growing on me)
Melee DPS- DNC and DRG
Caster- SMN
Heal- WHM
These are what I generally use while play FFXIV either solo or with a group (usually with the FC) depending on the mood I'm in.
Dark Knight
I've always liked the more darker themes when picking a class in games.
And I was thrilled when they announced the DRK was going to be a Tank. As that is what I have mained aswell since I started FFXIV.
I have only leveled Dancer and Machinist so far but I have to say that I might be changing my main to Machinist reeeeeal soon. New Machinist is so, so fun. So much so that I think I enjoyed leveling it more than Dancer!
If you told me I'd enjoy Machinist to the level wherein I'd consider making it my main pre-Shadowbringers I absolutely would not have believed you and would have laughed in your face. Shadowbringers' Machinist is the Machinist I always wanted.
I love being a WAR. Started the game with an axe and I've always gone back to it for the MSQ.
MCH is fun, too.
