Moderator deletion

I appreciate that SE has the ability to delete certain things from threads.

Any suggestions that would help them?

Because I think when something is deleted it should be completely gone not having a place holder.

been moderator deleted once for three word comment, how about you ?

I like the place-holder left when mods delete something. It is a nice reminder of the power SE has, and it also serves to show other players that it can happen to them if they don't follow the rules.

I haven't been mod deleted yet but a post of mine was in a thread that got deleted.

Agreed with that part, they are totally badass

They're going strong now, but the forums are new. We'll see how things look in a few months.

I think some people called in for mod support.

Well you can send in a report on each forum every 60 secs it seems there yarr.

I wouldnt know. Im not the one calling SE to delete posts I dont agree with.

I know for fact they can even delete things and not leave a place holder I am pretty sure it has happened to me and Martin.

Im saying I think the mod completely deleted some of our posts from another thread as if they didn't exist.

Would like the ability to lock threads, ability for person that started thread to delete offensive comments on their threads.

This should be left to mods. If you give the OP the ability to delete posts or lock the thread, then it can lead to people abusing that power.

Such as Poster 1: (Opinion)
Poster 2: (Opinion)
Poster 1 does not like poster 2's opinion and deletes it.

Ok, deleting would be OP; However, If we could lock threads from the beginning, recruitment forums would not be bothered with trolling posts by all.

I agree with the ability to create a locked thread in that sense that if someone wants to post an informative post they can make the thread so no one can post. But only in the first post so the person can't just lock and/or unlock when/if they feel like it.

Agree it would be a function of posting the new thread.

Things are getting a little carried away with all this crying about people trolling. Just because you dont like something that someone else says, doesnt mean someone is trolling.

Too many people think that if someone is disagreeing with you, they must be Trollin'. All this really says is that the Trolls are winning the battle of wits, and have turned all of us against eachother. People seem to have this difficulty with ignoring things they don't like, and have to react to it. "You disagree with my oppinion, so you must be trolling me, and I'm going to call you on it." I couldnt agree more Wooba. I wish people could see my original posts in the original Elite threads, but their LS leader deleted them. Now people will forever label me as a "Troll Poster".

I've been the admin of my own forums for 7 years. This is a forum that was only for CKD and people from FFXI on Ifrit. Yet we have over 1200 posters and almost 180,000 posts. If I was as big a troll as some people like to pretend I am then my forums would never have got to where they are now.

I was also a Staff Writer for the IGN Vault FFXI Website for a year or two. I was also the head Mod on the IGN VN FFXI Forums for longer (I quit only to focus on my own forums).

So people need to get off their high horse and start to understand that if we want to build a real community here, then we're going to have a few arguments. Its not a reason to start calling mods.

Yes you're right, I noticed some of my posts got deleted because I was talking about "Something" that I think pissed SE staff xP...

Well to be more accurate I used a few terms to identify and/or laugh of some people and by using those words I think I somehow "Broke" rules :/

The ignore funtion on the forums work just like if the moderator covers up their comments,
If you wish to not see a particular persons posts on forums:
Place them on your I-List(ignore-list).
My list will be of about 5-10 people however if you can still choose to view what they posted which kinda defeats the purpose but initially you dont have to see what they posted or if you review a post you can read it without their comments.

I'm used to the freedom of speech on our linkshells forum. Gotta be careful here, people are sensitive :)

I finally got to catch up on all the threads after being out of town for the weekend...and I must say I am VERY disappointed in the amount of censorship from the administrators. (This is on topic, so it better not be deleted).

Don't worry, just don't sound rude toward others, and don't flame people and the mods shouldn't delete you. That is mostly what the mods have been deleting. Just takes a little common sense and nothing should go wrong.
