I just got to the last MSQ of StB and I can't do it cause of level, it was all dramatic and suspenseful and ground to a halt because I didn't do enough side quests or something despite doing every sidequest in every zone....
This feels horrible.

Yea that happened to me once cuz I thought it wouldn't hurt to use some side quests for a second job. I ended up having to run some trust dungeons to catch back up
Be sure to do your roulettes, side quests and even some fates. The fates give a decent amount, and then you have to finish your Role quest. It is WoRTH it. BELIEVE ME. Push through, man. YOu can do it, and you will be rewarded for your efforts.
Dungeons give comparable good XP. You should run your latest dungeon and gather some more XP with FATE's while you wait for your que. I can only advice unlocking the side dungeons, there are some not included in the MSQ. This should guide you a bit, dont get overwhelmed by the amount though. Just take your time and you'll gain XP eventually while unlocking all these things:

Also do your weekly challenge log. It will net you a good amount of bonus XP while completing them!
Thanks guys, FATES aren't doable cause I never see other players and SMN before Bahamut is this weird half class.... I do decent damage but not enough to solo FATEs. And thst is using every cooldown and doing a crazy 16 button burst rotation.
Few of you seem to have missed that all important "t". Stormblood, lads, not Shadowbringers. Somehow gotta suspect you couldn't have done every side quest, plus MSQ, on one job. The exp is obscene.
But hey. If you did, at least you've got beast tribe's unlocked and can run those for easy exp.
Someone forewarned me about that in dng, so working on getting to 80 atm. Finding roulettes to be my saving grace.
I ran them as WHM in two zones....
Too bad you're not on Aether. I love helping fellow DPS with instant healer and tank queues when I can. I don't remember if you need to complete the mainstory in order to unlock the beast tribes, but they give you a decent amount of experience. That and hunts, if you have have access to them. You can do it while you're waiting on a queue and time will go by fast.
Even if you wanna enjoy the story and move along...Never, NEVER, Stop, Leveling!
Fates, Dungeons, Side Quests, Main Story, get all the EXP you can to avoid situations lik ethis. Soon, you'll have to worry about Gear Levels, and back on Heavensward when I was catching up that was a nightmare.
This isn't awful. You just have to level up. Don't be so dramatic.
When you get to 80, make sure your ilevel is at least 410, before running the dungeon. Thank me later.
Make sure you go and do the Role Quests during this time period. You'll hit another wall if you don't as they're MANDATORY to MSQ progression.
I mean. You can just nick some Scaeven gear for Poetics now. ilvl isn't really a problem anymore.

Just the last quest? Seems to me that maybe every two levels I'd come up about 1/2 level short for the next MSQ. I usually re-ran the last dungeon I had completed 2-3 times to level up so I could continue questing.
This happens to me every expansion actually.
Usually around the last 3 levels, for this expansion it was between lvl 77 to 80, you have to at least run one Daily Roulette to cover the EXP requirements sadly.
Seems strange that it is often sold on the quality of story but then saddles you with a bunch of chores and busywork that interrupt narrative flow and are generally unpleasant.
In that case I’ll warn you. In ShB there’s a level 79 story quest that requires you to beat a level 80 role quest to complete it.
But annoying people isn't a way to earn subs. Endearing them is.... Maybe I'm just too dumb to see the point XD
Personally, I'd rather do enjoyable story content then dtsy dubbed for dungeons and raids that are max level.
I had the same experience with stormblood, all you can really do is make sure to hit level 80 before shit hits the fan storywise. I think I hit 80 before the trial with the super delusional guy whose name I won't mention in case of spoilers.
My summoner is an alt, slightly under 60, when 5.0 hit (Shadow Bringers and Storm Blood, what were they thinking with these names?)
I can attest that the game suddenly became hard for my summoner alt after the recent class changes, just doing the sidequests, which I had deliberately saved for her, because I'm a returning player who remembers how hard it was to level alts at release (which I could play immediately since I played FF11 at release)(although admittedly not so hard now, but still takes some planning).
My issues were immediately relieved at 60, since there's a big gear bump there, which I already had.
Woe to those who don't have it.
The OP's description of summoner being a "weird half class" after the recent class changes accurately describes my feelings until I could equip the 60 gear I'd stockpiled for her.
I still think the summoner is a "weird half class" now (low 60's), compared to 5.0, although the level 60 gear has made a huge difference.
Time will tell.
You could do hoh to catch up, its boring after a few runs but hey, it gives like 1m exp for 21-30.
