is there a limit you can do on dungeons?

So I was playing wow and was getting transmog from older dungeons and I hit my instance cap of 10. I never thought about it til today but does ffxiv have something like this or no? If not then how doesnt it affect the server with lag and crashes? Does it have to do with the weekly reset and how that takes a day compared to wows 8 hours?

In wow the instance cap was introduced to reduce lag and help stabilize the server. I'm just really curious.

Edit: the 10 instance cap is only for an hour. After that you can do another 10 and wait another hour and again and again.

As far as I know there is no cap on how many dungeons you can do. Then again limiting this wouldn't really work with all the different types of stuff you can run - dungeons, raids, trials... So how would you cap it anyways? Only 8 dungeons per day but 10 trials? Or 10 Overall?

I could be wrong because I havent played in a few years but I thought that was an hourly cap?

10 overall. I should say that the 10 cap in wow isn't an all day thing it's only for an hour then you can do another 10.

Are WoW dungeons really so piddly that they can be done in 10 minute? O.o

I'm not overly familiar with how wow does things but I can tell you about FFXIV:

There is no limit to how many dungeons you can do in any given time.

At best you will be doing about 3 dungeon runs per hour. at worst 1 or 2

There is a limit to how many instances can be open (this means anything that pulls you out of where you're standing right now is an instance) however it's only noticeable during lauch periods when the influx of players is massive.

tldr: nope.

You're talking about the Fatigue System from 1.0. Yeah, idk why that even existed in 1.0 in the first place.

The limit was put in WoW a couple years ago because people were going in and out of dungeons farming for glamour and taking only like 5 to 10mins per run. This was to give the system time to clear out your record and let others have spots on the instance server.

You do not see that here because even if you unsynced for the dungeon, it would still take you about 15 to 20mins on most since the loot you are often going for is when you complete the entire dungeon. So, at best, you would only be able to do 5 per hour.

As far as I'm aware, it's to cut down on gold farmers. Low level dungeons run by max level players can, in fact, be finished in 10 minutes or less, depending on the dungeon. I ran into the cap several times farming transmog (glamour) or pets/mounts from old dungeons. You can make decent (not amazing, but decent) money off of trash and gear that drops in them, so spamming 50 dungeons an hour would probably be pretty appealing for farming bots.

Ah, that also makes sense. Whatever the reason, it's not something I see there being a need for in FF - other than maybe for trials, for people farming the old mounts and getting kills pretty fast? I dunno though. If it doesn't exist already, there's probably not much reason to have it here.

XIV does not have any such limits, and there would be outrage if they were added.

My personal record for Tamtara (level 16) unsynced on black mage was about 4 minutes and 15 seconds, so while it's possible to approach 10+ instances in an hour if you are doing something like light farming on a relic or anime, it's incredibly rare and something only done under very specific circumstances. I think A1S can be downed in about 2 minutes? Most 60 Ex mount farms also take about 3-4 minutes with a competent group. 50 Ex trials take a minute or less, hahaha.

Anyway, as others have said, XIV has no cap. The only reason to run that very easy content repeatedly is to farm for mostly unique / untradeable items so the gil farmers leave it alone.

Can confirm. I tend to run Haukke manor unsync'd for the varnish and have gotten up to an hour's worth of 3 minute run and guns with no issues.

You can do about half of coil unsynced in a couple minutes.

Ifrit normal in 1-2 gcd's.

Moogle EX for crafting silly weapons is a minute or two.

Haukke for crafting stuff is pretty fast.
