What is so cool there that you want to move?
I've been Hyperion since launch, not many issues on this server and the end-game community is pretty decent. No complaints. It is tricky to get into sometimes, but it does open up.
Tell your friends to move to your server instead. Congestion is a terrible thing. If you like waiting 30mins to login bare-minimum then by all means... But don't expect to have a great experience with the world visit system or recovering from a 9k error. Right now your best thing to do is to stay on the least congested server until the expansion hype cools down.
I'm on Hyperion, and the single longest login queue time I've had since the 24-hour maintenance for 5.0 was at 2AM Friday morning, right when the servers came back up. That queue was about 15-20 minutes. Since then, I've not had a single login queue longer than 5 minutes max. I have yet to be booted out of the game with a 90k error or anything else.
I'm not doubting you if you say you've had a more troublesome experience. It's clear that some players HAVE had issues with login queues and connection problems. But I've seen the sentiment "if you're on a congested server, ANY congested server, then you WILL have to deal with terrible login queues and frequent disconnects" bandied around a few times, and it's not the case. It depends. On what exactly, I'm not sure, but it depends. High pop servers don't automatically mean you will have a bad time logging in or staying connected to the game.
Hyperion didn't use to be congested... like ever since it was started. I've been here for a very long while and I'm like very surprised that it is congested. I hope it changes, but this is like something new to me... and I'm not quite happy with it.
Though as others have said wait a week or two. Hopefully it lessens.
I'd give it two weeks to start and then start checking. If it's going to go standard again it'll be because the bandwagon people left, which usually doesn't start happening till two-weeks to a month have past.
I'm trying to transfer to Gilgamesh myself :/ Wish I paid attention prior to all of this and did so.
I don't mind the queues if I can play with a like minded community.
Watch for the report when it comes out between 12-8 AM Sometimes people were even able to make characters on balmung before it was locked down.
To be honest I wanna go back to crystal all honestly. I moved on a wim cause a friend asked me to see em. But I'll be lying if I said I didn't miss my home server. And no it may be conjested but I'm locked for 3 months. I wish that'll be lifted so I can use the free transfer option and jet off. But I went to it while it was perferred so I'm bucked.
That's my life wanting to leave Gilgamesh and go to Faerie. The server was never ever congested, but obviously the moment I thought about transferring they closed it off. =P I guess more people play on Faerie than I expected.
I would say to try early in the morning at approximately 2-5 am time frame. Otherwise as others have stated, it will have to wait until the hype has ended which will probably take a month or two.
Trying early in the morning only works for non-Congested servers that have temporary lockouts for character creation.
Hyperion is officially Congested, which means that character creation as well as transfers to it are completely locked down until further notice. Changes to the Congested/Preferred status of servers is always accompanied by a notice about the change on Lodestone as well as on the launcher, and normally happen in conjunction with normal maintenance.
When Stromblood launched it was locked up. I know because I had wo wait to make my AuRa alt. And it was preferred pre launch so everyone moved/created here.
It might take a while, but I'm pretty sure it'll open up again.
