Just came back to FFXIV, which Job should I try with the new expansion?

Jus came back to FFXIV after few years, What's the best Job right now? :D

Haven't done exhaustive research, but seems Red Mage is the least screwed.

It is really up to personal reference. If you don't want Long Queues you should use heal or tank. Personally I feel like WHM is a good choice but that is what I played as a beginner and throughout all leveling Content. It does decent dps, has an Overall smooth playstyle and gives you a quick invite for dungeons.

DPS wise I always like casters and would recommend RDM (if you have unlocked it) as it is very smooth and easy to understand as well.

You should continue playing gladiator and upgrade it to paladin soon.

I'd suggest your Blue Mage

There is no best job. Try everything as you can. After a few levels I am sure something will gel with you.

Culinarian, everyone knows the frying pan is the best weapon out there.

Red mage is pretty good. Drk is fun too. Gunblade and dancer seem really popular. Pick the role you like to play and go from there.

There is no best job. Just find something you have fun with.

It really depends a lot on what play style you enjoy. Me, I like fast paced jobs that let me move and require me to think of my toes. So monk was my best fit (especially after this expansion and the changes to the tools available to maintain greased lightning and the addition of the fourth stack of greased lightning)

MCH is fun a heck now and we have a giant drill cannon. Then you can keep the theme with GNB.

As others have mentioned, it depends on your play style.

If you want to keep things casual and easy though, I strongly suggest BARD.
It is ranged DPS and you can use abilities while moving,
So basically, you don't have to stop using abilities while you're dodging attacks.

If you want instant entry to duty finder without having to wait a bit, then White Mage or Paladin.
