[SPOILERS] About the change of music in a certain region...

So after you progress past a certain point in the msq, the music seems to change in the Kholusia area to something more upbeat and cheery. Thing is, I really liked the old music. It's probably my favorite overworld music in the game, if not then it's definitely up there.

I know there's probably a way to get the orchestrion roll for the old music, but I don't spend much time at all in my apartment or FC house so there won't even be a whole lot of opportunities to hear it.

Anyone feel the same way I do about this? Is there any possible way to change it back?

There is no way in the current stage of the game to change music for an entire area.

Maybe in the future, but I doubt it.

I think she means personally, as in you or I can't.

Same goes with the skies for me. I really liked 24/7 light '_' As soon as I unlocked the first night sky - BAM! Rain! Rain everywhere and I felt like: "God, I really liked the toxic-light-place" xD

I obviously meant that we as players can't change it....

I learned the hard way that the orchestrion roll we have for that zone is for the new version of that theme, so the original theme isn't even available at all it looks like. :( It's really a shame, I enjoyed the old version so much better.

It's strange they'd spend the time to make a theme for a zone only to have it heard for the few hours you spend in that zone before the theme changes.

Also I agree that they original theme is much better than the resolved theme.

I noticed the change as well but I like the updated music for Kholusia much better (as well as the normal weather patterns), so to each their own.

I'd have liked the old theme, but the new night theme. The night theme is so good, I'm more willing to fly from point to point instead of aetherytes.

The old theme represents Vauthry's rule over Kholusia with the Everlasting Light. It brings out the impact of places like Gatetown having a somber tone but near the end of the song playing the hopeful part of the song that the new Kholusia theme takes. So from a story perspective it makes sense to play during that time and then be changed after the light has gone away.

I do like the song as it reminds me a lot of Carmen, which just sounds so damn good. Most likely the song and many others (like the other night themes) will be brought in future patches. I would expect some of the new ones to come from the new maps that we'll be getting within the next two weeks.

lol, this was the same thought I had. I was really quite excited when I got there and saw daylight at 3am. Bummed me out a bit after that first lightwarden went down. I don't think this would ever happen, but I'd love if they could at least add that sky as an option in /gpose.

The new music is fine and I get why it changes, but I love the old theme, much more than the new one.

Could it be that it's nighttime music? I noticed that Ahm Araeng's music changed, too (to my disappointment), but then I noticed the original song was playing whenever it clear skies. Or maybe that was merely coincidence and it has more soundtracks to that area? Not sure. I loved Kholusia's soundtrack, too. It, Rak'Tika, Amh Araeng, and that boss fight soundtrack are my favourites out of all the games.

Yeah I really wish you could change it back because I hate the new theme for kholusia and eulmore there old themes are 10 times better so I hope they do let us change it

Kholusia and Eulmore are the only areas in the First whose respective Everlasting Light themes are NOT the day themes that will eventually play once the certain quests in the Kholusia area are done.

Edit: In addition, the nighttime themes in Kholusia and Eulmore are way different from the Everlasting Light themes.

It's not that strange - no more than writing music for a particular story scene to set the tone, or unique music for every dungeon.

Edit to add: it's also not the first time they've done it. There's the temporary "sad version" of the Rhalgr's Reach music that plays in the aftermath of the Garlean attack.

I am with the OP, I much preferred the 'everlasting light' theme for Kholusia. While I can see problems with changing the area's music for individual players, I would like to have the orchestrion roll available.

Considering we've received almost all of the orchestrion rolls the main msq's give us I think it's pretty much assured. Same for the music in Eulmore changing as well.

I admit I prefer the original Crystarium theme (The Dark That Illuminates the World) rather than night ones after the Light is banished from Lakeland, as it really suited the area.

Still, Iscah is right, it's no different to music being written for specific areas or points in the story and then never heard again. And it's a common occurance throughout the FF games (usually World Map music changed when reaching a certain point in the storyline to reflect changes to that environment). Even FFXIV itself already did this even before SHB with ARR's themes themselves, as they replaced the original city, zone and battle themes from 1.0 'after the Calamity', so this is in keeping with that.

Best you could hope then I guess for is the original First zone themes appearing on the Orchestrion.

EDIT: and I goofed, I forgot that the original Crystarium theme remains as it's day theme once the night returns to it (I got confused with a track listing for the SHB OST).

After sitting in Kholusia with two characters, one who has finished SHB and the other had not, I noticed the music didn't honestly go away, but was indeed changed. The difference between the day music is that we now have the full version of the song. Think of it as hearing the Chorus of a song on loop (pre-completion), vs playing the entire song (after completion.)

The thing is they share the same melody but the instrumentation and tone are extremely different. The only point where two versions are the same is near the end where the whimsical La Noscea style melody plays on both ends before they loop.

It's actually also the Mt Gulg dungeon theme, or very close to it.
