Viera didn't blow up as big as we all thought.

Pretty much the title. Quite a lot of people stayed au ra and miqo'te.

There has been a lot of times in dgn and trial I was the only bunny. Odd but viera didn't blow up as big as au ra did where almost everybody was one.

That's funny. Out in ShB areas and around QS I see nothing but bunnies.

It's a combination of a couple factors
They're gender locked with the hair and headgear options being limited

I blame voice 7
The granny

Their voices have made it a tougher sell for me. I can’t settle on a battle voice yet. I will be tryin them out soon, but I need to do more testing :p

General reasons I can see them not totally taking over:

-Not smol
-Emotes are stern / non-cutesy
-Hair is limited
-Head gear is limited

Not being short is probably the biggest reason for most. Which is odd if you think about it, I'm still getting use to it myself tbh.

Au ra did blow because everyone had a free fantasia, and this time only the one who did buy the fantasia did change.
Obviously other factors such as limitations matter, but my logic still makes sense.

I would say that Fantasia is the most probable case.

I could understand the hair argument for Hrothgar, since it's tied to their faces. But Viera have a lot of hairstyles and most likely will get the other styles implemented for them. So if someone really wanted the race and can afford the Fantasia, they would change to them.

As for height, I can't see how some thought they would be short. People asked for Viera like Fran. And they got what they asked for.

I think this is the reason for many people. Most players I know just had the desire to try it out at least once, including me, but most of my friends stuck with their races, I guess $10 for a fantasia isn't worth it esp when you don't get to wear your fave headgear :P

Must be a server thing; seems like about 1/3 of Zalera is bunnies now.

I see plenty of viera, even though they look like complete trash. Their ears are made of wood lol, they don't even move...

Plenty of Viera of Jenova and a few Hrothgar.

I was saying this the other day and people were just saying I was biased.

I think the lack of headgear, hairstyles, voices, and height will make several others turn right back to au ra/miqo'te.

i got the game for free a while back and non of the races really grabbed me. When they announced Viera i pre ordered instantly.

Here in my server I am seen a lot.

And of Hotghar too, I am very happy to see a lot of big lions buddies.

Yea seeing lots of Hrothgar. I'm pleasantly surprised. I think every party I've had has had one.

I was never going to change.
I have 3 change character item and I will never use them.

I've seen some around but I'm seeing a ton more Hrothgar around.

I’ve seen a few Hrothgars on my server. Way more than I expected.

Which is weird, because I usually hate playing tall races lmao

On Faerie/Aether I've ran into plenty of Viera, even having full Viera parties for 4-man roulettes. I've also seen quite a few Hroths.

Plenty of Viera on Faerie. However as a Hrothgar I’m an endangered species

I think their bodies are kind of bulky in general, tbh, and that might put some people off. I like the look of my Au Ra gal in her racial gear, but in anything where she's flat-footed she looks oddly squat IMO. Obviously I get that we have plenty of the "diminutive, demure" body types in the game already with Midlander/Miqo/Au Ra but I would preferred something more like that than their current body shape. As you guessed, as soon as I feel like ponying up for a Fantasia again I'll probably go Au Ra - though obviously my issues with Viera are personal preference and aside from the lack of hairstyles and awful combat voices not a direct criticism of how well the dev team handled the race.

Yeah the voices are bad but voice one is cute honestly.
I don't think viera are bulky though, we're actually quite thin, akin to midlander and the other two waifu races.

They seem to be actually using a Hyur base with a bit of muscle on them. In one of my dancer outfits you can really see the definition on her arms, shoulders, and belly. They are bulky because of their size, height enlarges proportions - also, I never noticed just how tiny elezen heads actually are until I stood right next to them in height! Au Ra is what I would go back to as well if I was too change; certain outfits look better on smaller bodies.

I think it did. But I think some are switching back to other races. While I do love viera, and would loved to have stayed one. The very limited hairstyle was a bit too much for me to deal with.

tonberry here, i must say we are pretty balance. mix of pretty much everything from bunny to hume.

a bit low on elven side but yeah....

I see vieras everywhere, however I can say that I'm also seeing all of the other races just as much. Hrothgar and Viera definitely made the game feel more diverse in regards to who you see running around. I love it.

My city is infested with bunnies...

$10 to change into something that doesn’t even have their own unique Hempen set isn’t worth it to me, personally. Plus, I’ve been a midlander for years! :)

Honestly I can still hardly believe that Hrothgar are playable especially in a Final Fantasy game! It makes me really happy to be able to make my own beast character in this game, I mean yeah I loved Roegadyn but they weren't a perfect match, you know? Something was missing, and that something was Hrothgar!

Viera's bodies are actually a near 1:1 copy of Elezen female bodies. I mean sure, Elezen female bodies are just adjusted Hyur bodies, but the similarity between them is absolutely staggering. All they've really done is make a bigger head for Viera to go on the body.

Well, they are bound to fix them out and like make the head gear adapt in time, plus the hairstyles and people will be happy.
