The Diversity the Viera and Hrothgar bring to the game is wonderful :)

I have to say, seeing the new Viera and Hrothgar wandering around the areas and diversifying parties in the dungeons is really great. It just adds another layer to the game's population and I keep smiling seeing them all and checking them out up close.

I've played as a male Hyur since 2.0 and was planning to switch to Viera, however, didn't last a day before shockingly going Hrothgar and I am never looking back. He's handsome, fun and his expressions are great.

I know people were worried about lack of customization, but I've seen sooo many unique Viera/Hrothgar so far and none really look the same. The colors and hair patterns really do make a difference.

Anyway, I am just happy to see the population so much more diverse. It really enriches the experience.

Only downside, is on Faerie the Hrothgar are more of an endangered species, you will spot us out in the wild but not too often :P

To be very honest, I often can not distinguish the Hrothgar from Roegadyn as I put my camera often behind my Lalafell, and you are all just buff and tall.

The reason why I post here is that I can feel with you when you found what you love to play as, and when you take the time to express it. I feel the same with Lalafell and Red Mage, and the hype for me with the red-clad mage does simply not wear off. It sweetens up my life a bit after a stressfull day at work, or when the world decides to piss all over you - then a nice session of FFXIV can help. Especially when your Alter Ego is now exactly as you wish. And I feel you might be in the same spot now :D

I thank you for expressing and enjoying the awesomeness this game has to offer. You do the artists a favor by enjoying and appreciating the design and not just consume this game as a throw-away thing!

Aww, what a kind post. I love seeing me some Lalas! I am sure from your height so close to the ground us larger races all look like massive giants to you :) I would happily pick you up for a closer look!

Thank you :) He took quite a few fantasias of tweaking and my own indecisiveness, but I really love him. And I just think it is so important to celebrate the diverse community we have! I am loving how colorful and different it is becoming.

I thought I would be annoyed at the bunny boom. But to be honest, it made me happy for a weird reason...

You see, I play an elezen woman (a short one at that). And most female player characters are the small miqos and au'ras of the world. The only other race taller than me are roes, but I've literally seen more unicorns than roe women. But since viera came out, the height average for eorezan women has shot up!

No longer do I stick out of the crowds, seeming more ganky and awkward at times. I'm average height, slightly below average sometimes. It really put my character in a new light, and made me love her even more. As weird as it sounds, having taller women around her makes her look cuter. ♡

I agree! I love seeing so much representation of the new races in the msq and in towns. Even with so many running around, I like seeing each and every one of them. All of the creations so far have been so unique and wonderful. :o

I knew I wanted to start a fresh character when coming back to the game after years away and knew it was going to be a Viera. I made her in the benchmark and she was great. Then I made a Hrothgar in the benchmark and....

I've been really pleased by it as well, both in player population and in terms of ShB NPCs. We've seen a nice balance of both throughout, and it does add a lot of extra depth to the world without feeling jarring. You don't feel like they were added and then subsequently shoved into your face; they blend naturally into the world as they're introduced. Atop that, I've really fallen in love with the Hrothgar's expressive emoting too; not only does most of their animations feel like they're giving 125% of whatever they do, but they're just so darn charming! The Viera too, in their own way; the devs really put a lot of work into these two.

Also Runar is best NPC, try and change my mind. He's adorable and I wanted to give him all the hugs as I progressed through the Greatwood.

People are getting very creative. Even with the Hrothgar if the faces are the same, the color schemes, patterns and markings are so different, everyone comes off unique and I LOVE IT. Same with the Viera. We somehow have taken our limited options and created very unique characters :)

One thing I saw and found really really cool, having Viera helps give perspective on the body type for lady roes tbh. Saw it comparing two of my alts.

I originally designed my roe with the intention of getting her to look very feminine and very curvy. Frankly with tall and slim Viera of comparable height, it's easier to recognize that the roe is significantly more solid and thickset by comparison. I still plan to mess with outfits for both when I eventually level up (roe will do better with sleeves, a scoop or v-neck, and a leg slot choice) but since part of what I like visually is being able to work with a range of body types I actually think this strengthens existing races as well by making them stand out in new ways. Roe women are no longer simply tall, they're good if you want a stronger or wider build while Viera are more willowy.

I think I've seen more Hrothgar then Viera, but it's been a good blending in with the rest of the races on my server. It's a subtle thing, but in a good way as things look different, but not obvious if that makes any sense. I think both races are excellent additions and I may have to make a Hrothgar alt for fun once I get the MSQ finished for ShB! Everyone's creations have been fantastic!

He's very handsome! There's an insane amount of Hrothgar on Goblin, I rarely notice Viera around, maybe a few here and there, but mostly new Hrothgar, and it's really great! A beast race was exactly what was needed to spice things up! Even with the limited hairstyles I don't think that I've seen a Hrothgar that looks the same to another one, people are very creative with the markings, face paint and fur/hair color!

I don't think I've seen 2 people who looked the same with either race. I've mostly seen bunnies on Adamantoise but still enough Hrothgar around. I just did a duty roulette and all 4 of us were viera. Never had that happen yet since EA started.

On Balmung I've seen quite a lot of each, but I think I've seen more Hrothgar.

I agree it adds a nice visual diversity, also I am quite pleased with the facial animations. I don't look silly when making an emotion, and unlike my Highlander (who I did also love) my Hrothgar's shocked face looks far less derpy lol. Highlander/Hyur shocked face is like shocked to their very core, to the bottoms of their soul contains only pure shock haha.

Even if the race isn't as popular as some of the others, I'm just happy that there is now more variety of races into the game.

I've definitely been hoping for a beast race since 1.0, but I never thought it'd be done. Seeing Hrothgar announced, and now seeing them on game, I cannot contain how excited I am! Their animations are amazing and their expressions are equally so! I'm happy to see so many others enjoying them as well. :)

I was planning to go cat daddy but I ended up liking viera more than I expected. I was far more excited for Hrothgar though I was hoping for more options.

I'd like to make a cat daddy alt, but I'll have to wait for primal to no longer be congested.

I was hesitant to try Viera coz I thought they'd all look the same but quite the contrary. Vieras are pretty diverse. One face can look so different with a little tweak here and there. They're a great addition.

Whats up with the hair styles of the viera? My girlfriend was really happy after release and switched back to Miqote cause she is missing felt 80% of the available hairstyles. Yshtola, Minfilia, Noctis, the new Gold Saucer Hairstyle... also no hats?!

Nearly every Viera looks the same. No real customization present here :(

I've wanted Viera in XIV since I started playing in 2013 so this is a dream come true.

Hrothgar I wasn't so sure about, but after playing through the MSQ, I love them.

Hrothgar are GOOD BOYS and I want to pet them all.

Yeah I love not having parties of mostly miqos! (No hate for em, its just more interesting to have other races). One thing I noticed is a lot of roes have magically disappeared. I used to be a femroe but being able to play a monstrous/bestial race was too good to pass up.

I think it might be because it's a bad cut for the body type. Shirt makes the shoulders look wider, legs and boots wind up kind of stubby with weird texturing. It's a very low level alt, and frankly I wanted to get out of default gear but have no glamours yet. Will see if I can up my game.


EDIT: xxvaynexx, dunno if you'll see this or not but I thought a bit on what you said and how you said it. Want to say thank you and I'm glad you didn't worry about letting me know. There are places that's not doable without serious risk these days. If I'd been going for a man-in-drag look w/e, but if I'm not then that's something I need to work on. Have a good one dude. If you spot me doing glams with this alt down the line seriously feel free to let me know where it stands. :)

ONE MORE EDIT: Have since changed the glamour, the image being referenced actually changed to match it which makes it a little tricky to follow in the conversation here. Will try and get the past image in so things still make sense, but hopefully it works better. ^^

So far I’ve always been the only Hrothgar in my party and it’s kinda cool to get compliments

I actually have't seen as many Viera as I was expecting. It's nice to see them running around, though. I was considering changing, but in the end I couldn't make one I liked more than my elezen.

I think it really depends on the server. Like on Faerie we are Viera bunny apocalypse, but the Hrothgar...well we are an endangered species. I may see 1-2 around. Now this may all change with it being official release week.

My one beef about viera is that all the NPC representations I've seen of them are pale. Lyna is probably the darkest one and she's not even that dark (not like Fran and kin). The Hrothgar are a surprisingly cool addition, too. I didn't expect to like seeing them, but I do. xD There haven't been that many NPCs of either of them, though. I expected to see more.

I won’t Fantasia to any other race (haven’t change a thing except hair colour since 1.0) but I just love seeing so many Hrothgar. Finally something different that is not cute but beastly (even roe look cute in some faces). It also feel like a true fantasy world with more than just humanoid

I will also say that although I loved Marcella I was never fully happy with Femroe. I've said this many times on the OFs but yet ... Roebros are big, wide, soft meat walls ... IMO the femroe should be wide, soft and curvy like Christina Hendricks. Instead they just made the like like tall ass gym instructors.

I've never had a male in this game I would bother playing because of the lack of black features (to be expected from an eastern game). The Hrothgar are the first time I looked a male and thought "THAT'S foking cool! :O".

Sure, I 100% expect many Viera to convert back as that's the nature of the appeal they're going for ... but I really don't know many who would convert to a Hrothgar on a passing thought. Like, that's a big step and away from the norm to do without thinking about it. I'm sure some will but I don't think it'll be the common path.

As a femroe for years I've found it's important to dress them with care. They don't look good in a lot of things that can slide on smolls.

No Hrothgar bards have I seen yet. :) I’m loving all the unique ones I have seen though!
