I Honestly Do Not Like Alphinaud ..

However, I find it difficult to hate him because of how cute he is.

His sister is cute too.

I didn't like really like him in 2.0 at first. Started to to warm up to him when he was speaking in the credits of 2.0. Absolutely began to love his character in HW as you could see his resiliency all the while trying to take down a corrupt priest, new primals and rebuild the Scions. He's gone through a lot now that I actually think about it. I need a little bit more progression of Alisaie as she has had very little screen time until recently. I think we'll learn more about her in ShB like we learned a bit about Alphinaud in HW.

Lmao I've got mixed feelings. Figure he works as a character but my god after The Parting Glass quest it felt like he went full throttle NOW IS MY TIME TO SHIIIIIINE angsty teen over the Crystal Braves fiasco. Except 1) adults with authority put a teen boy in charge of a bunch of mercenaries 2) each of those mercenaries was hand picked by the Warrior of Light. Meanwhile Alphinaud keeps talking about how he depends on you to be his role model/inspiration/pillar of strength in these trying times when WoL is the one who put all the traitors together then got accused of regicide.

Feels like WoL kind of gets banned from expressing their own angst lol. Alphinaud's practically going OH I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE STABLE AND NOT DEALING WITH THE TRAGEDY THAT I ENDURE WOL, I DON'T KNOW IF I COULD COPE IF YOU WERE ALSO UPSET~

Basically I don't dislike him per se so much as I think he's still a clueless teen boy in a lot of ways and can be shortsighted at times haha.

At first I didn’t but at the end of SB he has grown and matured so much I have come to respect him. And at least he is better than Lyse

I didn't like Alphinaud at first but he grew on me after his character development. Alisae is just really bland to me, though. It's a shame she gets a free pass from many. I could speculate as to why that may be but I'll keep my lips sealed to avoid drama!

I can already see her being Shadowbringer's version of Lyse. I'm sure she'll charge into a fight many times and miraculously be rescued at the last possible second with absolutely no real change to her behaviour.

alphinaud gets much more tolerable during the tail end of arr and through much of hw

Alphy got more character development than all the other Scions combined. He started like a spoiled rotten brat but now he's like that one goofy little brother you must protect at all costs.

Honestly I never disliked Alplhinaud in the first place. I enjoyed his character from beginning to current and I love how he grew as a character.

Still keep him away from anything involving financial costs because the Scions are in deep with the amount of unnecessary money Alphinaud spends.

I've always liked Alphinaud. xD However, I have to say - and I didn't think it was possible - but I love his sister even more. xD Her moxie, her wit, her dramatic poses and certainty over silly things. She's a real hoot. Together, I love them even more. It's been interesting watching Alphinaud grow with experience, though.

Reminds me of the whiny lancemates you had in MechWarrior 4: Vengeance.

Microsoft redeemed itself in its Black Knight expansion where you went back as a Merc and hunted everyone down. If only Shadowbringers would let us do that here.

I've said it several times and will never tire of saying it... heck, I'll just repeat some of what I've said in the past: Alphinaud is an excellent character who has been cleverly developed with brilliant writing. Not to toss in any spoilers but he actually got my personal respect first in 1.0 when he concisely assessed the Admiral's speech and then later in 2.0 when both twins assisted the WoL to fight in Coil.

If one really pays attention to the storyline as a whole, there are numerous instances where he has made grave mistakes and yet he has evolved from them through sheer resilience. I think a few people are just innately surprised that even though he is Sensei Louisoix's grandson with a posh accent, he actually forged his own path without riding on granddad's coattails... and that is something I can personally identify with.

Let's be brutally honest: His mental perception and brilliance is exceptional, his character development has actually been very progressive and most of all, he is a true friend to the WoL. I foresee Alphy evolving into a fantastic leader of a new Sharlayan, perhaps even a protegy of Gaius... but who knows these things? His core strength is politics and he has the kind of "Beautiful Mind" that comes in very handy when analyzing mysterious knots in situations.

Cannot deny the cold fact that the chap has a great innate ability and the trippy part is that he hasn't even finished evolving just yet. I reckon as Shadowbringers unfolds into the next expansion, we will all watch him become truly incredible.

I would suggest the Coils Raids.

I hated him in ARR, I think it was his voice though. I hated it. Made him sound like such a snob. I'm English myself and his accent was just, 'mate, go away.' The fact he was acting like I was his personal hitman also made me want to punt him into the sea. He's a lot more likeable after ARR since his voice matches and delivers the emotion better.

Though to be honest this is also why I disliked Minfillia - I hated her voice.

I however, love his character development.

Even if I'm not fond of his character, it's still really cool to see him change over the course of the game.

It's really great to have some well written character development and I wish we saw it with more characters (I swear, if Curious Gorge has one more crisis involving him being afraid of losing control to his inner beast I'm gonna push him off the Sea of Clouds...)

Thing 1 and thing 2 need to stop using me to solve their family issues.

In the beginning, I thought he was cute, but he was so bossy and cocky, he was a little bit annoying (but not that much, just a little).

What I truly love about him is his character development. He changes so much from ARR to now, it's really a pleasure to see. He's one of my favorite character ♥

Pre-HW I hated him. Post-HW I just dislike him. The development was nice, but I just dont like his derpy / nerdy character.

Alisaie is... ok? We didn't spend too much time with her yet to really decide. Seems sort of like an Yda 2.0. Smaller, somewhat smarter, but with no potato attached. I generally enjoyed her antics and minor development. Hoping to see more of her story.

I like Alphinaud. He's pretty unbearable in ARR but he got so much better from Heavensward onwards and he's had a lot of character development.

I turned off voices at some point during ARR - accidentally in the first place, but it made some of those characters far more likeable and less annoying, so I've left it off ever since.

Maybe that's why I don't mind Minfillia anywhere near as much as other people do. I remember she had a terribly stilted delivery of a lot of lines, but since I'd switched that off I could imagine her talking a lot more 'normally'.

Probably unrelated to the voice. I played with japanese voices and had no issue with hers. She and her role in the story was just... not very well written.

He is probably one of the worst NPC I dislike most, very naive at the beginning. In HW I just want to slap him and tell him suck it up, it is life. However, when HW progress and SB he did grow. Still not one of the most likeable NPC for me, but his change make him feel more human than NPC

He's the actual main character of XIV I think.

I am not fussed on either Alphinaud or his sister lol I just don't get the hype for them :( I like some of their character progression but I feel they have been overused I would rather other characters be there a bit more now.

Wish he die so I won't have to endure him any longer, never liked him it was hate at first sight and having to "rescue him" for the sake of his adorable sister is a sacrifice I'm barely willing to make.

Lets face it, killing him have only advantage storytelling wise.

Playing him during stormblood had me felling sick and I was overwhelm by anger and hatred.

He serve only as a medium between GC and scions, if not dead put him behing a desk and let usefull scions do their work without babysitting mister two spell for a job.

I spent most of ARR wanting to feed him to a goobue. He got better once Heavensward beat some character development into him, but he's still probably my least favorite of the main Scions. My favorite part of Stormblood is that he's kept out of the way for most of it.

Why is everyone hating Lyse? Did you see her toned stomach and thigh? You guys are not straight....

As for Alphinaud, he is awesome. I liked him from the first time his music hit when he and Alyse walks in.

I shitty character would be Ayemeric. Complete waste of space.

amazingly, alpinaud story in essence is pretty much my cousin life story in a way.

- obnoxious, always has this "iam smart and i know that" attitude
- always (try) to get in your "community circle" but when doing so, just end up as sideline all the way
- then one day has this grand scheme to impress everyone (main reason is for this one girl that he like)
- but end up in a horrible disaster so in the end me, my sis and his lil sis help him out.
- he was so devastate by it he end up being "hikikomori" for almost a year
- now he mellow down, still has a little bit of this "smart" attitude, but this time is more honest and humble, so he learn his mistake i guess.
- now he study abroad

when i think about it. it is alpinaud story in essence hahaha

Alphinaud is a decent little chap. He was a bit one dimensional initially, being all self righteous, and always on about how *he* will save Eorzea with his perfect plans and how he will be Louisiouxs successor and all that... but then Ilberd sucker punched some humility into him, and Estinien and Krile continued that trend with the respectful humiliation.

Since then he's been quite alright. He learned his lesson, has been more willing to admit and conquer his flaws (like swimming), and had a bit of a backstory added to him that reminds us of his old arrogance while still spinning thrm as humorous "Oh Alphinaud you twit" stories.

I was a little worried he was going back to his old ways at the end of SB, what with his absolutely reckless decision that he thinks only he is capable of doing, but... in this case he may have been right. As the most politically headed Scion, I honestly couldn't see anyone else having any chance at accomplishing what he intended, as stupid an idea as it is.

And let's just face it. Alisae wouldn't be half as awesome if she were an only child. Being Alphinauds twin sister shaped her, she took her own separate course and subsequently the two of them compliments each other well. The best scenes with Alisae often either has Alphinaud in them, or are relative to Alphinaud, whether it be directly mentioned or just hinted at through subtext.

I can see why people wouldn't earlier in the story as he comes off as a bratty know-it-all but as the story progresses, mainly around the middle to end of HW for me his character really begins to shine. When you get into SB, you really notice him begin to mature as a character. He learns from his failures and thrives to become better. I'm a sucker for character development and he's definitely got the most out of the Scions.

Plus I think "little brother looking up to his cool big brother" relationship with Estenien is cute.

Actually, the more Alphy grows on me, the more I realize that if FFXIV was a single player console RPG game, he would be the main character of the story. We would see how everything unfolds around him and through his PoV. It's a bit weird, but being the WoL feels like living through the lens of a deus ex machina.
