1.21 Gathering Changes

Hello, I'm the "gathering person" for Mooglebox, and I previously collected all data that you can find here. That includes sweet spots, remainder bars, strike zones, and yield information for all mined, quarried, logged, and harvested items from all 17 camps. Putting all that together was not a simple task. So, I am here to make a request of the game staff:

I am somewhat upset to find that the patch notes are incorrect about changes made to items and locations.
For example, I am pulling Kukuru beans logging at Camp Black Brush. In 1.20, you could get Kukuru beans from Horizon, Nophica, or Halatali. The patch notes make absolutely no mention of Kukuru beans at any camp. So the notes are not correct to the old version or the new version.
I am also pulling Yellow ginseng logging at Camp Black Brush. In 1.20, you could get Yellow ginseng harvesting (not logging) at Horizon. The patch notes are accurate to the 1.20 version, with ginseng being available at Horizon harvesting and not at Black Brush. So the notes are not correct with respect to the current version.

I have no idea how far these inconsistencies go, so my only choice if I am to keep Mooglebox updated is to completely re-do the entire database.

In order to save me the 40+ hours of work that would entail, could I make a request for a correct list of all items that can be gathered from all 17 camps, mining quarrying logging and harvesting? (I would take fishing data as well if you're willing to provide it, haha.)

I am trying to make things as pleasant as possible for all Disciples of the Land. I hope you will facilitate that by providing accurate information.

I will be doing a full run-down of all the botany zones again regardless of whether you do or not, if you'd rather not do those. So far I've only completed 1.21 data for Treespeak, but I should start up my botany rounds once I finish processing all this Flax.

Nobody's forcing you to collect the data. If you don't enjoy doing it, don't do it. Even if you go by what the patch notes say, you'd still be mostly correct.

We noticed that there were a few omissions in the "Changes to Gatherable Items" part of the 1.21 patch notes and have since corrected the issue and updated the notes. :)

So far, do you happen to know where can vampire plant be found other than fighting Orge?

We've found that vampire plant in a treasure chest right before Princess in Cutter's Cry.

So it those plant are found around dungeon then. drop from Orge in Darkhold and chest in Cutter's cry.

My LS and I were doing the MNK AF quest in Mor Dhona and since dark weather popped we took a few stabs at Dodore. We got one or two vampire plants everytime we killed it.

What is also interesting is how you can get two different types of logs from the same tree in certain areas.

I have recieved this plant as a reward for lvl 40 guild leves at broken water.

Prickly Pineapples aren't listed among the items that can no longer be obtained from gathering, but they don't show up in the loot list for any area. Is the gathering table still incomplete?

Wolves in the halatali leves drop prickly pineapples as loot, idk where else to find them.

My mistake about the pineapples - they already got removed from the loot lists in 1.19.

Wasn't an issue before, but pineapples are suddenly interesting again :)

whats the point in removeing a item from gathering and moveing it into a lev mob drop?

ive noticed that the salt leeks also tend to drop from the same sweet spot that yew logs do.

but they sweet spot on the strike zone seems to be top area of sector 1.

aviha is there any reason why the sweet spot for yew logs gives yew branchs more then anything?

35 botanist i would have hoped would be the best to stop getting randoms.

from what ive seen tho on the salt leeks the have the same remainder D as the yew log.

can anyone else confirm the salt leeks being at log 1-2? ive hit both spots and gotten them before so im just wondering if anyone else has this happen at humbleearth

items are not all equally common, so even if you're on the sweet spot for something, you might get something else more often. But the sweet spot for a particular item will give you that item as often as you can get it anyways.

Salt leek is spot -1, bar D, zone 1, yield 4.

Currently logging data for Botany - Emerald Moss and I'm at 48 tree gathers and not a single Lavender hit. Can anyone confirm/deny whether Lavender can really be found off of trees in Emerald Moss like the patch notes say?

I'm probably close to 80 tree-gathers now and still no Lavender. I'm going to move on and see if it was mislabeled and is actually somewhere else...

Just logged data for Drybone. Despite what the patch notes say, I can't find Ash Logs after 64 chops making sure to hit all 5 logging points. Can anyone confirm/deny that, too?

Okay folks! My Botany Spreadsheets are all updated to reflect the changes made in patch 1.21. Enjoy!

I manually and personally checked all the of zones. There were a couple of inconsistencies with the patch notes that I ran across, so if anyone can fill me in, that would be very helpful.

1) I was unable to log any Lavender off of trees in Emerald Moss. Can anyone report that they have obtained some from there?

2) I was unable to log any Ash Logs off of trees in Drybone. Can anyone report that they have obtained some from there?

i see sagolii sage is from iron lake. I have been there and tried to get it but have not had any success. I ended up getting alot of mistletoe which doesnt seem to be on your list for iron lake. Can any1 confirm if they have experianced the same as me.

Thank you for the report! I will check it out. Admittedly, I stopped gathering in several zones once I had logged all the data for the items listed in the patch notes. I'll report back with some results shortly.

In the mean time, the best suggestion I can give is to set your Aim at -5. Sagolii Sage is definitely in Iron Lake.

Well, while I don't want to say outright that you must be mistaken, I have logged 40+ times with my aim at +1 in Iron Lake and not turned up any Mistletoe. I would normally log longer (and I will continue to a bit more even after posting this), but for you to claim that you ended up with "a lot" of Mistletoe, leads me to believe I would have seen it by now, especially while sitting at the aim sweet spot for Mistletoe. Plus, I did manage to get Sagolii Sage on several occasions even while so far from the sweet spot.

I also saw the yields from a few others that were also logging in Iron Lake, and when they were near me, I never saw a Mistletoe yield for them either.

Do you have a screenshot, or perhaps... could you have been in Treespeak on accident?

I remember it happening with Mistletoe, but I can't remember where. But it was there for Gathering Leves, but not there at other times. I should have kept track, but I noticed a discrepancy between the leves and trees at Cedarwood, Iron Lake, and another place. I think it was a place in the shroud with Yew Logs.

I would love to see a rep response on why things that grow in the ground: Lavender, onions, carrots, etc are now dropping from trees.

Some logging nodes now have SIX potential drops with added nonsense that shouldn't be there while some harvesting nodes only have 3. If the point was to accommodate the new recipes, add new harvesting nodes or distribute over existing ones instead of loading down trees maybe? >.>;

I am 100% sure it was iron lake. I think i was doing leves whilst i was there so this may be the reason. I will go there again and see what i stuff i can log and I'll get a screenshot whilst im there. Thanks everyone for thier responses and hopefully it was just because i was on leves.

Leves for iron lake still use the pre-patch loot tables.

Haven't done leves in other areas since the patch, so I don't know if they're all still using the old loot tables, but I would assume so.

Agree with the post about over burdening trees.

How about adding gardening as a way to produce vegetables and herbs, it could be a basic skill given to botanists.

the gardening system in 11 was amazingly detailed for those that took the time to master it, can only hope they add this with player housing.

well, I wouldn't say trees are really overburdened, if you look at the current loot list.
5-6 items:
Bearded Rock (Grade 1)
Black Brush (Grade 1)
Drybone (Grade 2)
Emerald Moss (Grade 2)

Only 4 areas have a loot list of 5-6 while the rest are 3-4, excluding catalyst. Gathering nodes need more variety in order to prevent one material being gained in to much surplus over another. if anything every area should have 5-6 items to mix it up. With the way gathering is atm, it's just way to easy to accumulate 3-4 stacks of a single item of any grade over the course of 2-3 hours. I mean ok you can say that 5-6 is really 10-12 because of +1, but at Grade 1/2 for someone who's just starting to play is that really an issue to their inventory load, at that lv the variety they obtain really doesn't effect as much as it would a higher lv.

I know this may sound unpopular, but for those who have seen the whole plot line this will be a spoiler for those who haven't done the class quest yet. Since the concept of a botanist isn't to chop down a tree but to gather the dead parts of the tree while leaving the living parts unharmed. What if they added "decayed" loot which could be traded in for some sort of blessing for cleaning up the environment. So like rather then just getting "this chop damaged the item" instead you start off with a 95/5 ratio of obtaining the item, so you cut the rosewood log and obtain it, after 10-20 cuts the ratio changes to 90/10, and it keeps going down as long as you are cutting for. At a certain point while you may succeed at cuts you'll receive a "decayed log" or "decayed branch" rather then the appropriate item. The quantity would always be one and there would be no +1 version of it.

Basically what could be done with these is you trade them to a sepcific NPC that gives you "Botanist Blessing" currency which can be used to effect your gathering yield.
Off the top of my head you could recieve the following blessings(only able to use one while hitting a certain "Botanist Blessing" overall cap will increase the amount of blessings you can have active.

Blessings could come in two forms, you have the potent instant blessings which take effect as soon as you purchase it, or the abilities which require a perpetual cost of MP but only provide 1/4 or 1/2 the strength of the instant ability.

Examples of this would be:
Instant "Golden Touch" Increase rate of HQ gathering by 25% Duration: 1hr
Ability "Golden Hands" Increases rate of HQ gathering by 5%
Instant "Steady Touch" Grants a 50% chance at +1 yield for all items Duration: 1hr
Ability "Steady Hand" Grants 15% chance at +1 yield for all items
Instant "Wood's Call" increases rate of obtaining wood based loot by 25%
Active "Wood's Desire" increases rate of obtaining wood based loot by 5%
Instant "Hunger's Call " increases rate of obtaining food based loot by 25%
Active "Hunger's Desire" increases rate of obtaining food based loot by 5%

The general idea is that creating decayed loot would decrease the amount of materials that would enter the market, but it would encourage gatherers to obtain them in order to obtain abilities that will improve their specified target when they want to gather items again.

As gatherers we should want larger loot list, sure we might want a specified item, but just because it's not something we want doesn't mean another person won't want to use it. The whole concept behind a gatherer is to obtain a large variety of items and then either use them ourselves or sell it on the MW to make gil. While we prolly won't see any truly major changes til 2.0 I do hope that with upcoming hamlet they will give us some interesting challenges when it comes to gathering for the sake or our grand companies lol.

If SE really cared about this, they wouldn't have changed harvesting to begin with. It was fine just the way it was in the beginning. They are the ones who opened the floodgates on mats.

Yeah SE could care less, and I really dont even think its a problem. The more mats available the better, that means more crafting and more production. Sure gatherers make less money, but thats how it should be. Besides, HQ mats still sell for a lot.

The way I see, SE just made logging nodes like mining. Most mining nodes have 4-6 potential drops.
