[dev1002] High Quality Cut-scenes and Voice Overs

Forgive me if this has been asked, but I did a quick search and didn't find anything.

I noticed that none of the new quests that have been added have the high quality of say the first cut-scene and even the last cut-scene. The first ones for each city state are probably the best in the game.

What I want to know is, will there be more of these kinds of cut-scenes and can we expect more voiced over dialog? What does everyone think about this?

I think they should add this to 2.0 release. with voice over for job quests too

Don't expect to see anything voiced before 2.0, VA costs alot especially for content they may not keep all of.

This was my impression too, if they not keeping some of the quests, or text may alter, it costs a lot.

The only Pre 2.0 thing I expect to even have a chance at being voice is the doomsday event whenever it rolls around.

I know you cant compare Apples to Nopales but SWTOR has a TON of voice acting so i think they should be able to have alot more by 2.0

I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure the japanese version has an english dub as well. So... yes it would save money if they didn't have an english dub, but then they'd have no voice acting at all.

I'd rather not have any voice acting at all than just Japanese voice acting. I really enjoy the VA that Square Enix pulls out for their localizations, so I'd rather have English.

You notice how that's all TOR has to offer, right? Other than that the game is the closest thing to 2004 WoW. This game has much more to offer than just voice acting.

So long as the events are given subtitles where there is voice acting and so long as it doesn't deviate the developers' time from more important stuff, I'm fine with it.

In-game voice in all four languages (Japanese, English, French, and German) after version 2.0.

Voice acting? For what? Ppl forgot how to read all of a sudden?

A voice fitting the character and situation is able to draw the player in much deeper than just reading, after all we are humans, hearing someone speak is always more natural than reading what the person is saying.

That being said, I think VA should only be used for special stuff.
It looses the special vibe if it's used all over the place like in..some other game :rolleyes:

So..voiceacting for doomsday, yes please :D
And for big important stuff in 2.0 too ^^

I'm always iffy about voice overs. As long as they find appropriate voices and you can toggle them on/off if you don't like them i'm ok with it.

I dunno. I kinda like being able to attribute my own vocal choices to people. How they sound in my head usually turns out to be better than how they are when voiced.

I think the main character (Us) not having a voice aside from grunts, groans and whatnot. Is how it should be then we can project our own voice onto the character through (THE POWER OF IMAGINATION). But NPC's on the other hand considering SE is generally pretty good with picking their VA teams I can't imagine it would be terrible.

Again I just don't think the cost justifies the end result.

But our characters having voices? DO NOT WANT!

I feel the same. I can't imagine what FFXI/XIV would be like if we didn't have someone say what was on our mind for us in the middle of a cut-scene. Forever the silent adventurer.

I mean, would the Zelda games be as good if Link went around talking to folks!

Sadly it wouldn't be as good only because he won't have (excuuuuuuuuuuuuse me princess) in any dialogs, because if Zelda isn't asleep, she's being a pushy brat and he won't get the chance to say it.

English is currently the only voice language in this game. The Eorzea writing is english, too. You can say english is the main language in Eorzea.
