DRK's level 80 skill should have been some kind of resurrection move.

It would have been a fantastic way to add to DRK's group utility. Let DRK be the Tank who doesn't have any kind of group healing capabilities, but balance that out by having them be the only tank who can raise a fallen teammate. I mean, the skill would even fit in with the theme of DRK lol. Thoughts?

nope. That'd guarantee every raid group of every level would want to bring a DRK for that alone. That's almost as bad as "we need a NIN for trick" and "we need a dancer for dances."

You think so? I guess I could see some groups being really picky about that. I don't think it'll be that divisive when looking at the whole game's community though. It's rare that I see groups such have harsh restrictions in PF. And when they do, I personally tend to not join those groups anyway. All classes in this game are viable in their own right, so if somebody is being that restrictive and "high-tier", it really puts me off and gives me the impression that they take things way too seriously...like, to the point that they'll bring constant negative energy to the group.

Mmmm no, if we take RDM past experience DRK will be delivery more weaker in some areas just BCS they have a Res, it will depend of how much the skill work, if it have a cast it will be redundant BCS we don't have siftcast, and if is instant will depend of the recast or how much resources consume, in any case DRK performance will be affected and probably nerfed just BCS they have a Res.

And I'm not fan of every role having res.

Okay, to balance things out let's give him no proper selfheal, a bad ultimate cd and lock him into magic damage mitigation, while the other tanks can tank everything fine.

However, not a fan of a raise on DRK either xD

Raise would fit Paladin more. Paladins were actually able to use raise in older FF games since they can use white magic. It could be a nice thematic addition to their kit, but even with a long cast time and a long CD it'd be pretty hard to balance with the other tanks anyway.

He will have more selfheal than he have now (every souleater heals now)
Living dead is not that bad, Hollowed ground is just OP. My only complaining now is no more combo with convalescence
TBN is a 15sec cooldown 25% HP shield, you need no more. For every tank burster you should have TBN + another cooldown and should be more than enough.

And for the last time, until we dont know the potency equivalent of living shadow, STOP making sugestions to it. Its a oGCD ability with a 1000 potency at a bare minimum.

Second. Raise (if it were ever added to a single tank) is 100% a paladin thing. Thats just not really in Drks theme or aesthetic in any way.

Paladin actually had Raise previously via cross-class; you just couldn't use it while fighting so you could just as easily switch jobs to WHM to cast it.

Hallowed Ground is not OP because it only lasts 10 seconds and has a long cooldown. Clemency is more OP than Hallowed Ground ever will be, because you can survive indefinitely with it to the point of soloing expert dungeons (but my experiences of this have been when I greatly exceed the average item level).

I would actually prefer it if this game had less raises. I feel that it tends to promote brute force as a means to clear content. I was really hoping that they would introduce some sort of "life" system where your team had a shared pool of instant cast resurrection abilities which can only be used a certain number of times per pull/attempt.

They could just give every raise spell a big CD like 5min while still maintaining their long cast time and make it unable to be Swiftcasted.

I strongly disagree lol. DRK seems to be the Tank that's mostly focused on death and the like, so it just makes sense to me that they'd be able to bring people back from the dead. In my eyes, Paladin has always been more of the healer type, not the black magic/voodoo/make the dead walk again type lol.

Eh, the last thing Paladin neess is more utiility though XD. Hell, Clemency might as well be a raise with how OP that move is (and I want to clarify that I say this as a Paladin myself lol, so I'm not hating on them XD)

nah they shoulda advanced dark arts to the darkest arts and gave us out black flames back...now they butchered the class beyond its identity taking away the flames and dark arts

Man, to this day,,, That was like the coolest thing when they showed it off in the original job actions trailer for HW. Then it became some red infuriated looking abomination at launch, they had to thin out because people were getting headaches watching DRK with it on. I think Im gonna look up that trailer now as a matter of fact.

EDIT: ok so the red abomination was there as well. Wouldve rather had the black flame instead of the red abomination.

From the forum title, I thought it meant a self-raise, to counteract all the times that Walking dead isn't removed.

That's what I thought as well, like a built in safety for if the healers don't sort you out in time.

It would be a complete waste of a ability. Especially since people dont die that often and if they do there is usually always a healer or rdm with dualcast/swiftcast raise before you do it. Plus it would be a dps loss since it cost a GCD and mp

I mean, it's one thing to just disagree/think that something else would be a better fit, but to call a raise a complete waste of an ability is nonsense. And honestly, if your main reasoning for advocating against having a raise is that it would be a Tank DPS loss, then I can't take you seriously man. DPS is secondary, the wellbeing of your group is first.

I mean, from my personal experience it's the DPS in my parties who tend to die the most frequently. Dead DPS do 0 DPS. If the Healer isn't in a position to raise them themselves at that moment, a DRK being able to bring a DPS back to life would actually be a DPS gain. Now, one could make an argument saying "Well the DPS shouldn't have died in the first place" & blah blah blah, but mistakes happen, nobody's perfect, and having another person in the group (especially the Tank, who will most likely be the last man standing) with the ability to

raise would be a great benefit to the team.

It could be buff that can be applied only outside of combat.
when buff is on when you die you will instantly resurrect whit 20% hp and resurrection sickness.

This would be quite reasonable counter sweetener to living dead when you healer say OPS! on 1s of walking dead.

You have the choice of healers and two caster dps that can already rez. We dont need a tank role with rez.

Tanks have incredible survivability already...adding a rez on top of that would make rez cheesing quite easy. Even if it has a restriction like once or twice per raid or dungeon.

Living Dead upgrades into Living Shadow and changes the annoying essay of an effect into "Restores HP to full upon activation and makes you impervious to most attacks."
