Housing Timer

Yes, I know, there are several posts already for this issue. Guess what, I don't care at this point. This timer is total BS! and you devs know it! Simple solution, no one can bypass the timer. Not individual purchases, not FC purchase, not transfers. If one cannot do a thing, then no one should be able to do the same thing.

Failing that, give FCs the ability to bypass the time as well. As a newer FC, it is damn near impossible to get a house. That is asinine and should not be the situation.

You could also implement another subdivision. That would expand the total number of houses by an insane amount when one considers the number of wards that already exist.

At this point, I don't care what is done, but SOMETHING needs to be done. This housing system is total utter rotten garbage and you know it.

Its the players that wanted the previous system to be changed, now you people are complaining even more. There's nearly 10x more plots than when housing came out and prices went down by 5x or more. If you really want a house for your FC, purchase someone else's FC house...

Try writing this in the Japanese forums. We're not going to get an answer here, sadly.

Don't worry. I only waited 11 hours today, myself...only to time and again watch it fall through last second to someone who would manage to run up right as the timer chose to expire and get a faster click than me.

Best bet is to (a) stop caring or (b) cancel sub.

The timer can go up way to high. Hear stories of 20 plus ours before a house becomes available. Who the heck thought that would be a good idea? I mean I get it put the timer to discourage reselling but at some point someone on the team should have been like "guys... maybe 20 plus hours is a bit excessive?"

From what I have gathered, the timer can go to a max of 22 hours. Why? I have no idea.. there's no reason for the timer to even exist anymore honestly.

The problem before was that people would buy entire wards then resell for far higher. They have since limited housing to 1 per account per world as it should have been from the start. So the original problem is already solved.. but they still wanted to discourage ANY buying apparently and added this ridiculous invisible timer.

So now even if you want to legitimately buy a house you have to basically kill yourself waiting for up to 22 hours.. never wanting to leave the screen even for a second because someone can snipe it. I've been at this current plot for about 10 hours now.. I've literally watched 3 other plots in this same ward sell faster..

If people were always running up and winning the plot, they were probably relocating which bypasses the timer. It's why people often suggest on the forums that someone has enough gil to buy a starter or throwaway home (small, probably goblet outer ring). If you own a home, it's much easier to get the home you actually want.

...while it's possible, I highly doubt people are relocating into small plots on the Goblet or Lavender Beds....to the very homes you're calling 'throwaway homes,' in fact.

It doesn't really discourage reselling though. Because people can still flip high end plots for ludicrous amounts. Because you can bypass the timer entirely just buying any old plot.

So the timers don't work. And the demo system itself is a total joke. I get freeing up plots from people that no longer play but theres better ways to do than some bs 45 day timer which shouldn't exist. Any number of legitimate reasons people might not log in for 45 days. Work, health, vacation, deployment. Moving house. Especially when it can take 2-3 weeks just to get ya internet connected in some places. Or even just taking a break between patches which yoshi keeps saying is cool you can do that... no ya can't cos good bye house...

Oh and the tenancy system as well. There's be a lot more available plots if the tenancy system was better or had a proper shared ownership feature. Because a lot of people would be a lot more willing to share with there friends. But when your home is tied to someone else's logins it's easy to see why people are reluctant to share even when they want to. I and 3 friends all have medium plots because the tenancy system sucks but would happily share if it was viable.

Would probably bring the wards to life a bit more as wed all be hanging out at the same place instead of 4 different plots...

The new system simply isn't fit for purpose. It didn't solve the issue of people reselling plots - they still do as much, only now they charge a higher amount and simply do it through selling leadership of a Free Company that happens to own a house.

When multiple rival MMO's have managed to have a housing system that everybody can access after a certain point in the game it really is troublesome that FFXIV is lagging behind in that regard.

I absolutely believe XIV has the worst housing system in any mmo ever, just because of the timer. Auction houses and rent are painful, yes. But in other games there's still generally something you can do or have. Sometimes it's even free until you get a house. The neighborhood aspect comes into play very, very far and in between and when people talk about their experiences, I've found it's only 3 people in the sea of literal thousands.

My apartment is in a ward of 90% locked houses. Yes, so much community. I love my neighbors who close off their homes and never talk to me.

Got a demo'ed house im standing at by myself...wish it would open up lol

Yes people wanted the system to change. That doesnt mean this change was good. We have every right to complain. I have to ask seeing as ive blocked you before on another account. Why do you make new accounts or whatever and come to these threads to spit your non sense? Is it to show everyone how many homes you own to flaunt your ego? (Seeing how you stick that photo at the end of every post). Im actually curious

Heh. I had the same issue when I owned a house. I never saw my neighbours. I didn't see them do much in the way of decorating either.

Wildstar had the best housing system that I've ever seen in an MMO. It's a shame it crashed and burned outside of that niche.

While Mew isn't popular, they do make good points from time to time. There were quite a few of us who were against the changes people wanted. A lottery system and restricting access to buy a plot after it was relinquished were some of the main things people asked for as well as restricting houses to 1/1 per account. People got the changes they wanted, and now the changes are not as great as they thought they would be because they still can't get a house.

As troll-like as Mew can be at times. They often point out the truths that people don't want to hear. People wanted this bad system. It didn't stop resellers. Taking away grandfathered homes won't help everyone get a home (there just aren't that many people grandfathered in). And people can still own multiple FC houses, so even just starting out in the game you can have 9 homes per server per account (1 personal, and 8 FC houses). The ward system was never meant to be for personal homes. Housing prices were dropped substantially multiple times to make the feature more accessible to players, and by dropping the prices SE created an expectation of ownership in the general population of the game for a resource that cannot easily be expanded for that same population. It's a bunch of hard truths. And Mew doesn't always deliver the news in the most polite way possible, but they usually aren't down-right rude about things either. I would also guess that they're just cycling through multiple accounts they already own not creating new ones.

This is almost all of the reason that this system is so bad. Personal homes had no business being in the wards. SE can't correct this now, though, because a lot of people like having their personal homes in the wards and would be unhappy if it were taken away. Best thing they could do is introduce instanced housing alongside the wards and offer incentives that may get people moving out.

The question is whether or not they're going to bother doing it.

Point me to 1 person who asked for placecard spam? No one asked for that. The previous system was busted. (Favored flippers) So is this 1 (Favors those with houses currently)
Saying "just buy an fc house from someone" is kinda stupid tbh. And doesnt fix anything considering these houses are way overpriced for what theyre worth when others like Mew try to sell them.

i would have to agree with the OP there it is in need of a rework but not on ether of the extremes, even if i don't agree that it is stupid or asinine or even broken , cause in a form of logic it does get done what it is designed to do. and that is stop most house flippers. it was good then when we needed a stop gap measure to stop the issue (the House flippers/sellers ) but im not sure if SE even reads these posts. but i have to say it is in need of a Reworking or they need to consider how to better refine the system or idea for the betterment of all. like for example The one FC house, one Personal house per world Per Service account is helping, and there for should be kept. but other points need to be revisited. i have at least 2 fc members who constantly get burnt trying to go for a house just to have their hopes burnt up by "Auto" clickers or such. (suffered that pain in another game i played so i do know it) Its sad to see them keep getting hurt when they should be able to experience the joys of having a house. yet i know i would be just bad off if i gave up my own. something does need to be done on this.

Yea we literally swapped one bad system for another. They're both equally bad, just in different ways. SE can and should do better. Fingers crossed for the hinted Ishgard housing not being merely more wards, but actually something improved.

OP, you're in Famfrit. Have you still not gotten an FC house? My SO walked up to a tier 1 small in lavender beds last night and instantly got it. There were at least 10 other houses that I'm sure were not on timer anymore, and nobody was camping them. That's just in Lavender Beds. I saw at least 3 in shiro and a bunch in Goblet. My friends also got houses pretty easily and I got new neighbors in Shirogane. The majority of plots in Famfrit should be devalued and off timer right now.
