i don’t really spend enough time on a mount to really care about it’s cast time.
Probably something to do with ease of running away from enemies and PVP fights..
Though it would make PVP pursuits interesting.
Agreed.
But to prevent players from mount cast spamming, how about to change it from a cast timer to a recast timer (3 secs or something).
Seems like a reasonable thing to me, though after a moments thought, I think they dont want you to be able to mount and book it in hostile places so easily. If youre gonna try and mount, you need to be in a safe place so you dont get interrupted. But not sure how big an issue that is.
I think you can still call a mount after getting aggro. I’ve always been under the impression that the cast timer exists so you can’t be like “Oh whoops, the treant aggro’d me, time to scoot.”.
Yes please! I get annoyed that my character has to stand around for a minute scratching her bum before her chocobo arrives.
Skills are different in PVP anyway, just look at Protect. They could still keep the casting time in PVP while removing it in PVE.
The cast time is like, 1-2 seconds. Not really seeing the problem here. In PvP, sure, those may be precious seconds which could mean the difference between escape and being swarmed. But...that's just PvP for ya. Most of the time you just have to know when something is a lost cause and retreating before it escalates any further. Sometimes you simply can't. Such is PvP. In PvE...this is a non issue entirely.
YES PLS!!! No more castbar for mounts pleeeease!!
Wow, we're really reaching the bottom of the complaint barrel these days if this is what we've got left.
Isn't it just so incase you change your mind and want to cancel calling your mount by interrupting the cast? Granted I know you could just just unmount straight after if that's the case, but that's the theory I had same with Teleport and Return actions.
Do you magically happen to appear in a bike, a car, a bus, or in the subway irl? Nope, you take the bike and sit on it, you open the car and sit on it, you get on the bus and same for the subway. Those are your 1-3 seconds. It's a fantasy game, sure, but what you're asking is like, beyond useless and stupid.
Sign, purely for the ability to mount while moving. Yes, it's like a second of standing still, but those seconds add up.
Running away from enemies is already piss easy with how short their leashes are, and in pvp they will just heavy you anyway.Quote:

There's no (good) reason for the delay to still be there.
I would like the cast time for mounts, searching around in MSQ, picking up items, using them, attuning to aetherytes and teleporting to be removed. Since I'm speed running and that's wasting my precious seconds. And don't forget skippable cutscenes, don't give me a loading time for that!
I'd rather have auto-unmount when using any action than have instant cast mounts. Way more annoying.
Teleport and Return are slightly different though in that they use up resources (Gil for Teleports, and Return has a, what was it, 30 minute cooldown? That's a significant time investment). Mounting a mount costs exactly zero, so being able to cancel it isn't as essential. That said, I personally don't mind the cast time.
It really bothers some for a few second cast timer?
It doesn't for me. Remember you call your mount with a whistle or horn so yeah, animation.
Don't remove it i like it.
Mounts are effectively magic anyway, unless you assume that we all have some chocobos, a few horses, some lizards, some mecha, a car, an airship, a bird or two, and the king of dragons just kinda lurking off-screen waiting for us to whistle. Maybe that cast time is for all of them to figure out which one you're trying to call.
Just be glad it's not like early WoW where you had to keep the whistle in your bag to use it.
Fixed that for you. If you're going to try to use real life analogues at least be honest about what's happening.
Instant mounting would be fine. If we're going to make unnecessary comparisons to IRL, let's talk about how in IRL you could summon a mount, have it come up beside you, and you hop on without it stopping. This is a real thing that people can do in real life on horses, into convertible cars, and other modes of transportation. Though it doesn't happen often; it's more common in movies than in real life, but still no less possible.
I've seena few of your posts throughout different threads today and you don't half love to attack other players don't you, Anyway in regards to the OP PvE PvP instant cast would be fine as other have mentioned before you can't cast a mount in combat anyway it'd be abit more of a QoL improvement.
