Random thought regarding self-healing and DPS classes...

Why is it, going into ShB, that BLMs are going to be the ONLY DPS class without some sort of self-heal?

All Melee and Physical Ranged have Second Wind. Melee also have Bloodbath.

RDM has Vercure.

SMN has Physick (pitiful as it is) and soon will have the Phoenix regen.

BLM has.... nothing.

At one point we did have Physick, and then we had Drain... no longer in ShB.

Why?

Because it was the only Magic dps to have a defensive cooldown that isn't a pet action?

Perhaps, but thinking about all DPS classes SAM has all three; Second Wind, Bloodbath and a defensive cooldown in Third Eye (which also can give access to a third heal).

I agree give BLM triple cast lifesurge

I wish Drain remained as a Role Action, to be honest. It's something of an iconic spell, but well... So was Protect...

The healers need something to do, that's why.

Exactly. If BLM got self healing, who would be left to tell the healers to "adjust"

Titan's Earthen Armour is also being turned in to a SMN type Manaward. The Phoenix Regen is going to be pretty weak though, the potency was like 20 or 30?

Yeah, Phoenix regen currently looks to be about as useful as SMN Physic.

I'd be down for giving each caster their own form of self-heal. Vercure for Red Mage, Physick for Summoner (that scales better), and a decent Drain for Black Mage. Even for Blue Mage, they have White Wind, though I would like to see Blood Drain restore health with it functioning as a more cost efficient self-heal.

Even with Physick & Everlasting Flight, Summoner is about as well off as BLM in the self-heal department. :rolleyes:
