It's official, SCH/WHM have two DPS spells from level 6-80

Whoever made this decision. . . This was a really bad one.

SCH have effectively a dot and a filler spell for 74 levels (with 1 standard AOE and a conditional AOE).

WHM is basically the same with Dia and Glare.

As it stands right now, leveling as a healer is going to be extremely boring and extremely slow.

If this was attempted for any other job. It wouldn't be acceptable at all.

Imagine if Tanks had only 2 buttons for Emnity, an AoE move, and Defensive CD's. That's what this would be akin to.

I understand the complaint, but DPSing as a healer is a bonus for making sure everyone is okay. Healers have so much support especially between SCH and AST that even if they aren't casting their DPS skills their support skills more than make up for it.

Level and use your company chocobo to make the process faster.

You'll see plenty of DPS' using their chocobo for healing, you at least get to take on more than 2 enemies without fear of dying.

Sorry but that would only be true if you know, content was actually hard, but it's not. If you enjoy spending 50% of a fight standing around doing nothing waiting for someone to take damage so that you can heal them then all the power to you.

Hence being okay means not dead. No one is asking you to keep everyone kept at full the entire time, that would be a waste of MP. It's more so to bounce back when when your tank is eating a TB or everyone would die to a raidwide.

Otherwise it's doing as much DPS as you can between your own offensive actions/support.

Then get rid of every other job having a self heal so I can do the role I'm assigned.

The Devs can't have it both ways. If they want healers to heal, make them heal. Stop giving other jobs tools for healers to have downtime with.

Except the whole reason we keep having this seemingly endless debate is because content doesn't hit hard enough to warrant focusing on healing. If the damage scaling remains relatively where it's at with Stormblood, then if you aren't DPSing 70-90% of the time, you're literally doing nothing.

My hope is that this is to help with that issue.

I'll totally admit that if we're going forward with the difficulty Stormblood has presented it would be a horrible trade off. I'm sure Yoshi-P is making these changes to hopefully give us a tougher experience.

have to think though pretty much anyone with "good healers can finally heal"
whats a healer gonna do when they are not healing
something does have to be there to keep the job interesting instead of just unnecessarily filling up HP

I agree; however, that's exactly where the problem lies, because there are many of these moments, so they don't feel much of a reward, especially since our DPS options are not very thrilling. We don't want to just be effective, we want our Jobs to be fun.

Its fairly certain that they wont increase the amount you will have to heal in various content. Simply because that would require a major rework of the whole battle system.

Considering people have been saying this since Heavensward, you have a lot more faith than I do. It's very likely they won't change a thing except now healers seem infinitely more boring.

I mean I feel like getting upset over potency which EVERY video tells you is subject to changes and doesn't mean what you think it means with how scaling has changed. You cant bring the potency into the argument as they are not final.

Healer in need confirmed for 5.0

Got it erase all my healer glamour plates and make all my characters start tanking instead.

By the way any skilled healer (and there are several in this game) are going to let go of healing because it will be beyond boring for them (not to mention not feel rewarding).
Very few people will want to pick up a healer (especiall considering how it sounds we have to lock in our role for MSQ for SHB.. which stands to good reason were going to have a lot of people not trying to do it as a healer.

You'd have to be delusional to think that the battle system is going to change much in the flow of incoming damage to compensate for this nonsense.

A sizeable population of healers already struggle to heal what happens now in casual/midcore content with the ridiculously powerful toolkits we have, and that's without them even touching the DPS side of the toolkit. Increasing incoming damage won't make that easier.

Management has caved in the ceiling because people complained about flickering lightbulbs.

To the OP of this post White mage is getting even more DPS. Why are you complaining that it's the same? Did you not actually see what White mage can do now?

No wonder SE doesn't listen to people because you guys complain about every single thing and go off on these wild ideas that is by no means going to be close to reality.

EDIT: OP doesn't know what they are talking about in the slightest. WHM is going to have more than 2 DPS skills. None of them are being taken away and only more are being added. I do hope you do better in Mathbot than here.

Glare (stone), Dia (aero), and a strong AOE move every 90s or so gotten late in their leveling cycle?

You are going to have downtime as a healer. It's unavoidable, especially as you gear. From a gameplay perspective, would you rather fill that downtime spamming 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 for 30 sec until you can refresh Dia or actually have a few abilities and utility to alternate?

Isn't Aero III being removed?

Huh, I guess I missed that. However even with that it is still a net gain.

I'm sure the changes will be fine at level 80 since they're tuning fights to fit the new kit. Maybe increase auto attack damage from raid bosses and overall raidwide damage so healers have to spend more time healing rather than damaging? Who knows. All I know is that a ton of people on this forum are being rabid over something they haven't played yet.

Imagine being new to the game and picking a healer as your first class.

1-2 DPS skills from level 1 to 80. (+ AoE skill to be used in dungeons)

That was my reaction when I picked up Conjurer.
