Any love for a non-magic based healer?

Currently the 3 healers we have have close ties to magic. Would a 4th that we get also use magic? I hope not, because a combat medic type healer would be an aesthetic that I believe would be very cool indeed, and would bring further variety to our role.

Skills would still use MP, of course, because it’s an abstraction for gameplay purposes. But attacks could use alchemical items or bombs or some such (think riku’s mix overdrive from FFX) to attack enemies and heal and support allies.

I just pictured a new healer class that uses acupuncture to heal their fellow party members :D

I think it could be neat to have a more physical healer rather than a magical one, why not ? Something different is always welcome.

Chemist, anyone?

Healing gun mage, fires shots, grenades, maybe even bazookas to heal your party members and support them with turret shielding. Think Ana/Baptiste (Overwatch), Pepper (Evolution), Valkyria Chronicles etc.

So pretty much everyone in here said Chemist...
I'm personally okay with more magical healers tho, would prefer a less civilized one, a Shaman or Druid of some-sort.

This comes up a lot. I tried finding a source on this but I could only find this from the tvtropes FFXIV trivia.

Well we have a gun using dps and a gun using tank now, maybe the dream isn’t dead?

Arguably whatever healer (if we ever get one) probably would use "magic" to some degree since they took TP away (although I suppose several skills might just use mp now in
game that didn't before, guess we have to wait and see).

That being said I wouldnt really want chemist... I mean there job, while not put in the game in a way folks like, is already represented by a crafting class... and therefore one would assume their job gear should have a similar effect and that wouldn't be my cup of tea.

Kind of, sort of, but not really. I was on board when a lot of us speculated that DNC would be a healer, and was looking forward to how they would go about doing it knowing that they are not really casters. Now that that's gone, my ideas of a new healer goes back to another magical based caster again.

I've seen a lot of ideas on Chemist and haven't really gravitated towards any of them. Puppeteer is another one that has crossed my mind. Puppetmaster has a moderate demand, and seeing what anime can do with puppets has intrigued me to have similar concepts brought into FFXIV, but it was only recently that I thought about them as possible healers.

When I think of puppeteers in FFXIV, my ideas greatly diverge from the mammets of FFXI and think more of tribal and morbid automatons for a new pet class that is filled to brim with nifty nuances with how they go about healing allies and damaging opponents, which includes but not limited to those explosive healing grenades that seem to be so popular xD

I'm in for chemist. A ranged physical healer would be interesting.

It would be a nice change of pace from "jinglyshine makes the boo-boo go away" that we're accustomed to.

i would be fine with mele healer but no more guns or swords...

id support a crossbow healer a mele pole weapon user, bell like geo uses... but honestly the only weapon ill fully support is a plushy user at this point

They aren't going to make a healer that different. And WHM suspiciously looses it's elements in Shadowbringers. Look forward to geomaner.

Gun Healer: Medic

think about it, we have a Gun tank class, a Gun ranged class... need a gun healer now.

We will see tomorrow but AST lost his (small) part based on time , so Time Mage healer finally will become an evidence !

I think any new healer will use MP as a main resource. I think what could change with a new healer is the aesthetic of a non "mage". I can envision a healer that use a lot of "Monk" like hand motions to heal people using chakra like abilities.

How about a Healer Job based on The "Alchemist" DressSphere from FFX-2?

it uses a Gun & Items in general and that includes:
Stach Ability "Using Healing Items like Potion, Ether, Elixer, Remedy, etc..." that Never get consumed which is Awesome
Mix Ability "Mixing two Items that produces a completely new item that can either create a Buff for the party or a Debuff on your enemy or Healing"

Thoughts? Ideas?

issue with that game already has it as a crafter

the only 2 healer dress sypers we could get is songstress or mascot

Change the Name to Something Fancier? like cough Chemist cough

Songstress is the Dancer Job we are getting since they both Dance, Buff & Hopefully Debuff enemies... Would be nice if we can Sing or Hum as well like YRP

Mascot is... Too Hot in there lol

I personally would love a non-magic healer, but I'm also open to more magic healers as well. Though, I'll be honest and say that if we got a non-magic healer and they were forced to continue wearing the same robes and frilly mage dresses that we have...I'm not so sure I'd actually like to see a non-magic healer as it would bother me aesthetically.

I wasn't suggesting a melee healer, or one that didn't use MP (as it says in my first post, they'd still need to for gameplay reasons), just something with a more unique flair to its healing aesthetic than "Magician/Cleric using unhurt spells". Maybe a jekyll/hyde experimenter/mutagenist/poisoner type aesthetic? Could also be kinda steampunky? Potentially ties to garleans who can't manipulate aether themselves.
