will summoner ever get new egi glamour?

the possibilities are endless with the amount of primals there are. i'd just like to be able to use my favorites like ravana or susano

Nevermind Ravana or Susano, they haven't even covered the rest of the vanilla series regulars from ARR yet.

I honestly expect them to pull another "but we just gave you guys another (20-second) egi with Phoenix" like they did with Bahamut in SB to handwave the issue for another full expansion cycle.


But I do like pleasant surprises.

I would prefer that, instead of egi glamours, they would make Summoner actually like an FF Summoner. FF XI comes to mind specifically. What we have right now is a glorified WoW warlock.

The janitors at Square Enix have been tasked with creating the egi glamours. Please give them some time to try and figure out programming and graphic design. Thanks. :rolleyes:

I would love that just as much as the next Summoner, but it's never going to happen. I'm sure the developers wish they could toss Summoner into limited-job hell and be done with it for all the trouble they've had carving out an identity for Summoner.

I always figured "additional egi" could just be introduced in animations... Like Summoner has a Raise spell? Why not adjust that so it does light Fire AoE damage as well, and slap Phoenix-Egi in the animation? Demi-Phoenix is certainly more impressive than that though... Back when Summoner still have Eye for an Eye, for example, I figured that'd look great as a Ravana-Egi based copy of his directional parry skill... Guess the skill sets being pruned down a tad too much to make that concept workable though...

The true Egi Glamour system I want though, is one that simply has you equip an item in the off hand slot, and that is the pet you summon. Equip Ifrits item, you can have Caster, Melee and... Support? Not sure what the tank pet is changing to... All three of those would be Ifrit-Egi though, not just the existing Melee Ifrit-Egi. Low level Arcanist quest gives you a Carbuncle Ruby, perhaps we can dye it to get the various colours currently set up, the Summon abilities require an item equipped in the off hand, much like Paladins shield skills require a shield equipped... Scholar also gets Carbuncle out of this, albeit a healer based on (Healing Ruby!) and uses the same system to equip a Eos or Selene item, and future items that drop from a Bravely Third cross over event.

I don't see any entitlement in this thread, other than the entitlement to our opinions.

I prefer XIV's version of SMN over XI. Like, by a lot. XI's SMN (at least in the 75 era) was boring. You summoned those avatars, they looked cool as hell, made them do a move and then released them and wait for several minutes for the commands to come off cooldown. XIV's doesn't look as impressive, but they put much more emphasis where it matters most: the master. I'd rather be a "WoW warlock clone" than a half-assed WHM that relied way too much on my subjob.

But that's just me. I would appreciate it if they do release some egi-glamours for the pets. I'm not asking for much, maybe just three to replace the egis we have. I mean, Sephirot and Ramuh egis are kind of already in the game. Add in Shiva for the third one as the Ifrit equivalent, I guess.

I just hope they replace the EGI's eventually.

Because the devs were on record to say that they were working on it but stopped cold-turkey at the Carbuncles. Phoenix is nice, but it's hardly a new "egi" (or even new if you want to get technical, 80% sure it's just about a reused model from the Coil boss, which I'm sure is why they went ahead with it).


"Entitled" is threatening to unsub without its implementation and outright demanding it "or else." New egis or not are not a breaking point for most, but let's not pretend the devs haven't been stringing people's expectations along about it with past interviews.

You guys will never be as cool as you were in XI :P

Yet BRD got it's very own performance actions, so if that job can get special treatment then it's completely acceptable to ask for other jobs to get some extra attention as well. Just stop posting if you have nothing to contribute, "LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME" pretty much sums you up.

I can't speak for others in this thread but I've been playing SMN since 2.0 launch and followed Yoshida's promises with it.

He said he would give us new egi's(This was before Heavensward, he said we would have Shiva, Leviathan and another, his promises are there in interviews from that time), then that downgraded to glamour egis at the job change preview Live Letter for Heavensward..okay, now its just..nothing.

I would just prefer if he followed through. At this point in the game I don't expect anything. I think he just gets really passionate about what he wants to do and then down the road finds out with budget and time he simply can't. I wanna say he means well, so hopefully someday he will give us the Egi's. Personally though I am fine with Phoenix, or whatever.

Well the way SE is going I imagine egis will be a relic of the past come 6.0 even yoshida mention them becoming more of a Summoner now that they reduced the use of the egis and relied more on the actual summons. I am happy with the shift in direction lol but I can see how others wouldn't be

And the WoW Warlock is a glorified DAoC Cabalist, which is a glorified Everquest Necromancer. DoT Pet caster is an MMO staple, not something exclusive to WoW.

If we also wanted to have Smn be truly like their original FF counterparts, could make them just be glorified Blm with 2 min cast bars.

Whoo-hoo, a "summon" that can only appear at your side for 20> seconds after undoubtedly executing a long rotation as opposed to you know, an egi that can be with you indefinitely. Never mind that additional egi-glamours have been promised for years now. If you waited 3 hours for a pizza that was estimated to take 45 minutes, I think it would be reasonable to ask when/if it's even still coming, no? Can't see the entitlement there.

This is incredibly petty. why even say something like this?
They added egi-glamour. the natural conclusion is that they'd expand on it, it isn't even a egi glamour as it is, it might as well be called Carbuncle-glamour

With the way they are changing SMN I don't really see a need for new glamours but for new Egi's to work into a rotation.

Well smn is the only job in the game that has options to change how some of their abilities look...

So by your logic it's every class aside from bard and smn who are entitled to ask for special treatment.

For me the fundamental annoying thing isn't that they haven't given us egi's, but rather that they haven't unlocked them. The Ramuh one springs to mind as does the Sephirot - both are pretty much functioning bar a few animations - I suspect with the rework of pets in general this may make things easier as it appears that there will just be "egi assault" i.e 1 attack plus auto attack per pet over 4 attacks - this should make it easier for them to make.

As for a smn more like XI... no thank you. I like XIV's summoner and always have. There is a large vocal group of players who do not play summoner as it is now and instead demand an XI- like summoner - this concerns me if i'm honest as a small part of me does feel like the devs are pandering to them with the addition of Phoenix. Not that they aren't cool (im reserving full judgement until the embargo lifts / i play it) But i actually like the trance aspect and i worry that they are removing DWT.

But i digress - In any case its not unreasonable to ask for more egi glamours and maybe a UI to go with it (Bard did get perform after all) I wonder if this is maybe what is holding it up - i do think when the devs say they will do something they will. The noise has calmed down a lot since they added carbuncles though. So maybe that has played into it also.

As for the person shouting 'entitlement' - The purpose of this forum is for people to communicate their wants and desires to the devs - who in tern apply said changes if they can and are within scope. If someone is trying to hold the devs to ransom and is acting like a petulant child then this can be said to be entitled (i.e I want x and i want it NOW kind of thing) - But players should be able to state what they wish to see, be it more egi glamour, Missing genders, a different take on a job. If they decide to unsub due to a decision or something not being added, then that's fine too - we play this game for a number of different reasons - But that said i think its all in the delivery of such feedback and behaviour. Act like a spoilt child having a temper tantrum and yeah, you are open to being called entitled. Being angry and passionate are different beasts entirely. Either way, i think of late, too many people have been throwing around the word "entitled" as if its a bad thing when really they mean childish.

Bottom line is we are entitled to state our opinion and desires. The devs are entitled to ignore or disregard them.

Just give me the Ramuh, Shiva and Leviathan glams and I'll shut up about it forever.

Same. It just feels "unfinished" without the remaining 3 basic elements and mainstay summons of the Final Fantasy franchise. That's probably primarily my biggest gripe.

Ramuh Egi even already exists, has since as long as Ramuh has in this game... Never really got the whole "We can't work on them as a priority because it'd only be for Summoner" after that... You make the Egi enemies in Trials or Dungeons and suddenly they're content for everyone... Most of the work is surely from designing and animating the Egi? You already have to design and animate new bosses every patch, just sneak a Summoner in there and you've justified working on Egi for everyone...
