MCH turned Guren Laggan -.-

I do understand MCH needed machines but really you adding drill robot like Guren Laggan....

I sadly don't like it MCH should have something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkGSg9O-stc and then combine it with more turret types and then a robot but not drill arms or something that kinda sucks.....

In the end i did not get what i wanted so i'm now playing Guren Laggan with MCH well done -.-

If anything most of the changes pay homage to what we might call the original Machinist; Edgar from FF6. It's really great to see all the different Tools come to life like the Bio Blaster and Drill weapons, and the mecha robot is just a nice bonus to throw in there. MCH is finally what it should be rather than a mediocre ranged DPS with a gun we've had so far.

problem is when we gonna get a true gunner class? don't get me wrong i know future expansions coming but its still for me not fair.

You might be the only person I have ever seen that is displeased about being able to summon a Mech with drills for hands. This looked good enough to make me wanna test out Mechanist some more.

That can be said for every job. When will we get a 2 hand sword class? When will we get a Ranger type bow use? When will we get a "insert weapon here" class?

I think the direction SE is taking MCH is great and majority of players can accept it.

Doubt they will ever release what you want tbh.

i like it, they are called machinist, not gunner not sharpshooter, so it make sense they take ff6 edgar as their role model.

mch use tools and they did exactly what it sound like, iam not sure how you see the guren laggan stuff, all i see is just a companion that help you dps by punching stuff, there is nothing guren laggan about it.

also that last hit is bunker buster, its not even a drill to begin with. maybe there will be on other skill but as of now, thats not a drill.

Can anyone confirm if the turret is gone now????

i think it still there, they didnt show every skill afterall.

though i wonder if we summon our robot, does the turret gone or still there too.

Have to say I loved the fact that some of the stuff looked more like Edgar from FF6. The first skill they showed even looked like the classic bio blaster. If anything the robot looks neat but I was just like "Bob, do something!" Honestly I am looking forward to the Machinist changes. I really want to go back to playing the class more.

I'm wondering if they made Flamethrower good enough to be worth using on single targets now that it doesn't generate heat.

They usually show almost everything in the job action trailers. I'm pretty confident the turret is gone and replaced with the robot. Also if you saw the Hypercharge animation in the trailer, it was the trigger for the robot to use it's drill (as more support on how the robot is the new 'turret')

I'm extremely disappointed that it seems like Rapid Fire ogcd weaving problems return with an even shorter Overheat window. The pessimist in me thinks that this rework is just a visual crowd-pleaser and doesn't fix many of the issues the job has. Manual Wildfire detonator is a step forward, though. It's also good if less job mechanics are tied to the Wildfire burst, the battery gauge abilities and the robot summon could be in this line. It'll be horrible if the pet rework doesn't quite hit the mark and the new summon just brings more problem along with it.

Positives:
+ Visual look change
+ Better Overheating tool
+ Manual Wildfire detonator

Negatives:
- Ping problems because of Rapid Fire effect (baked into new Overheat) combined with ogcd weaving
- Possible problems with the new summon mechanic (eg. Bahamut Akh Morn)

Of course, nothing is for sure until we know more but for now I'm somewhat pessimistic. While the visual make-over is interesting, it seems like they're still not going to fix the mechanical gameplay issues with the job.

I completely disagree. The MCH they showed off looked awesome and I can't wait to try out the new job MCH.

indeed, mch in shadowbringer is now a class on their own, right now mch is like least popular sibling of brd class. with this kind of overhaul mch is pretty much a new dps class to be honest.

i really hope we can customize our robot (put some fashion on it lol) but i doubt haha

Well I see a Giga Drill Cannon! and a Mecha Stand...

Now they just need to allow the mech to have a Oraoraoraora attack skill then it will be even greater than what it is now.

I love the new Mech visually now I can't wait to test it directly as a Machinist Main

That's kind of assuming there are still as many ogcds to deal with. If there's little to weave it might not be an issue at all.

I wouldn't say I'm pessimistic, but overall I'm holding reservations. I liked SB MCH a lot, as finicky as it is, I loved the animations and playstyle, and it's effectiveness in a group. Most of those seem to be changing but hard to know until we get to play it (or, at the very least some patch notes).

This, Machinist is going to feel like an actual master of machinery rather than a gunslinger with some cool animations and a turret, basing it off Edgar and adding in Bio Blaster, Drills and Auto Crossbows was just a plain awesome idea, all we need really is the Chainsaw down the line and we are all good to go!

Honestly, the entire part with MCH blew me away, I absolutely adored MCH back in HW but was extremely put off by the way they changed it for SB, but this has certainly caught my eye and I can't wait to play it, don't let me down Yoshi, my expectations are pretty high for this one.

Im tempted to main mch in the next expansion from what the show us.
I just hope there's more robot type, i never like humanoid robot i prefer beast like one...

Sadly there is no room in XIVs design for a "true" gunner class, the exact same applied to a "true" archer class. Yoshida deemed those classes as options that don't bring enough to the table to be standalone Jobs, so they were merged with other concepts to give us Machinist and Bard.

If XIV had a bit more variety in its combat, I could see a trapper angle for either Ranger or Gunner working nicely, and for that matter an actual stealth angle for Thief rather than having it bleed into Ninja, but with the content we have being so rigid, and the strict adherence to the holy trinity of roles, can't really fit those kinds of Jobs into the game, sadly.

Is this Final Fantasy or Universe of Starcraft? As Kurando said, it pays homage to the FF machinist.

My question is, we have BLM master of DPS for casters, SAM master of DPS for melee, will MCH be Master of DPS ranged?

Yeah, I personally don't know if I'll level MCH this time around, I was one of the few who actually enjoyed 4.0 MCH and I wasn't impressed with the blatant Ashe (Overwatch version, not FFXII version) ripoffs with the mech summon and the look of their new AF.

But if this brings more people to actually play the job, it's a necessary thing. I'm certain that the folks that do try it out will outweigh the folks like myself that are probably dropping it, based on the initial reactions.

Wait wait wait. Let me know if I’m missing something. In this series with robots like construct 8, Barnabas, Omega (a raid we just did), Alexander (a raid we did in the past), the various magitechs and machines we have, a series with rocket punch (both a homage to mecha and so ingrained in the series that Gilgamesh does it in like all of his appearances, a game with a bipedal mechanized Behemoths, cyborgs, mecha junk Bahamut, all of the Weapons, and actual allagan constructs with various weapon configurations.

With all of this. Not only is MCH having a summonable one particularly egregious but this non drill equipped pilebunker is Guren Lagan? About as confusing to me as people who think this was inspired by Ashe despite everybody having Mustadio with his summonable robots on farm speed dial to be honest. But hey don’t let me stop ya if that’s in some kind of way a deal breaker. I thought it was pretty cool

I feel you on that. I tire greatly on this obsession with people wanting random insert weapon become a class. Long sword, 2 handed swords, 2 daggers, 2 swords, etc. I wish people would focus more on the overall class and abilities of something rather than just the boring weapons it holds. Literally no class in this game currently has an INTERESTING weapon. The weapon is just there as a way to further skills.

I cry a bit when people want a class based around a weapon that is super similar to everything else.

I'm sorry, I don't play MCH so I don't think I can provide meaningful input. But I see this thread, and all I can think of is a Roegadyn MCH bringing out the bot with "ROE! ROE! FIGHT THE PO-WAH!" playing in the background. I felt this needed to be shared.

I'm completely on board to be more Edgar. I also think it looks good but I'm being extremely cautious given how Stormblood turned out after giving me similar reactions. I would really like to come back to MCH if it was more reasonable to play without special windows.
