yay praetorium! woooooo popular again. /s /kms i have everything at 70 already doh!
weird smattering of items. only thing of interest is the treasure map. does it lead to just uznair or what. guess we'll find out soon enough.
Irregular tomestones of philosophy will not be awarded under the following conditions:
・Using the Undersized Party Option

How strange. I would call this an attempt to keep old content relevant as expansions continue to move away from it, but, event only runs until the expansion drops. Perhaps a test run of sorts. But I do appreciate the effort to allow newer players the chance to quickly access some of these rewards that may otherwise have taken some considerable farming.
I assume it's meant to keep people going into ARR MSQ dungeons, but if so then they've forgotten Haukke Manor.
(Qarn is optional when unlocked, but required at one point in post-ARR.)
The minions etc are all tradeable, right? I've been meaning to run WoD for a few glamours on my alts, so I could collect tomes there and pass the items to my main?
Gotta keep the MSQ dungeon queues moving somehow. I'll work on getting the Namazu Earring though.
I don't know if I actually want a lot of stuff from that, to be honest. Yeah, I am missing a lot of the ARR beast tribes, and I don't have the crafting beast tribes or whatever at all either, but if I just straight up by the mount it kind of ruins the experience of actually doing the beast tribes. Not saying I think the ARR beast tribe dailies are that great, but I do think the stories are cute (I enjoyed Kobold). Can always go back and do them either way though, whether you have the mount or not. I'll pick up a few minions and stuff from this at least. Decent event overall.
People who have played more than me probably already have the majority of items.
Sounds like a good idea for both the low levels that will see their queues shortened and for the high levels that will have access to rare rewards. I´d say keeping it as a permanent feature would be a good idea.
Yeah, I've been working through the Amalj'aa lately at my own pace, and not rushing through them is definitely the way to do it. I don't think I really have motivation to get items like beast tribe mounts I can just get whenever with a little bit of effort. I definitely want those earrings! :p
This is a great opportunity for me to catch my Alt up to the mounts I want without all the danged rep farming. And dat Zantetsuken! woo!
I have the majority of items, but I quite like it (even though it will be hard, because these dungeons are... ugh), because for me it means I can have items, that are from Diadem. Diadem is really dead (at least on my data centre) and I never got the chance to visit it - so I'm glad I can access the items in another way.
That is quite the grind. If you just spammed praetorium, you'd have to spend about 23 hours play time for the namazu earrings (averaging 40 minutes per run, not positive on the exact run time now). There's also the queue time on top of that for any of these. You have a month to gather up tomestones for whatever you want, but grind events like this just make me want to be able to unlock things account wide even more.
edit: About 15 1/2 hours playtime doing Castrum Meridianum if averaging around 28 minute runs for the earrings.
It's nice to get my alts a few of those items that are no longer available or would take considerable farming, the earrings are nice too and I'm getting the 50k MGP too. But the tomestone payout is way too low, you'll have to do stuff every day to buy 2-3 items. They should either double the tomestones you get from each activity or make this event without a time limit, (or allow undersized parties).
That is some desperation to drive older content and that grind looks pretty painful and very little fun :c
A lot of the rewards are questionable, considering the time(not to mention, the sanity cost, of running old content over and over and over...), one will have to spend grinding:
1. ARR Ex primal mounts: Better to do unsynced runs. Solo runs are less than 3 mins each and the whistle drop rates are good.
2.Beast Tribe Mounts : Better to just grind out Beast Tribe rep
3. Riding maps: From Reddit, u/TheDeadButler:
4. Hjalmr and Herklaedi can be obtained from doing the Odin trial unsynced and less than 1-2 mins per solo runQuote:
The Masked Carnival is a much quicker source for the riding maps, if you're willing to put a few hours into levelling BLU to 50 and grabbing some spells you have an incredibly fast way to get a few hundred seals per week. Otherwise, I'd put them pretty low on the priority list, even just casually working on marks and taking the odd A- and S-ranks will eventually get you the seals for the maps.
For me, the Pegasus whistle and Pegasus colt are the most worth it.
My FC is too small/not active enough for Diadem runs and I'm not usually on when the people from the Diadem Discord are doing their runs. So, I'm really looking forward to get the Pegasus mount.
Seems ok to me, it's content I'm grinding atm for relic weapons anyway. I guess I'll just see how much I manage to get by the end of the month and see what I can get for it, hopefully the pegasus.
Crystal Tower seems like the only thing worth actually grinding for me, as there are a few glamours I want from there so it'd be dual-purpose.
Everything else just seems like it's meant to be a 'consolation prize' when you get it in leveling roulette.
I definitely agree the payout is very low for what's expected, and people will probably form parties of 4/8 to do it (defeating any intent of it helping new players find an instance.
*remembers the 10+ runs of WoD she did the other week that could have earned tomes...* :(
only thing i don't have on this list besides the obvious namazu earring is the answers scroll
If you can sync 4 blues and get rewards this will probably be its time to shine
also you dont do Ixali for the wolf more for the Snow white and soot black dye
Wow they need to up the amount of tomestones you get given >_>
if you were to just do 1 of each type a day(1 MSQ,1CT raid, 1 dungeon) you be spending 16 days to try and get the namazu earrings, thats bad, if you want multiple things from the list oof the grind is real
I will farm earrings and Pegasus for sure. Also some minions that I don't have and two orchestrion rolls (they seem to be new? I don't remember these titles). But chosen mounts from ARR and HW look weird. Why only 2 birds and only two horses?
Crystal Tower & Stone Vigil isn't that bad XD
Nice concept, but... The rate/content you get these from, and the cost of items (and the selection of items for some veterans I guess) is pretty... Horrible?
I guess I can try for a pegasus, but I'm not making a priority out of it.
They should make this permanent and adjust the (main) rewards every month or two.
No harm in having a new set of earrings every quarter to farm for. That's almost a dungeon every day...
yeah no, I'm not gonna stay subbed just to spam some of the most boring ARR to carry WoWfugees just for a pair of earnings
After doing some figuring yeah I could get everything I want in time before event ends at patch 5.0. Which ones longer castrum meridianum or praetorium?
Seems like i will run 2 times the Syrcus Tower daily for the next month XD
I have all the items here already, except the Maps and the namazu earring, I could probably just mostly ignore this event :P
Just to try and make people aware that it will stop with maintenance for 5.0 so plan around finishing things before the Thursday 26th June as past expansions have had 1 full day maintenance before Early Access
You can actually get these solo. All you need is a friend's help to enter the instance.
Trials of the Matron and then simply scout around for hidden treasure boxes for the loot exchange - might take a few runs but I did it this way and got mine in a few days of relaxed gathering materials for FC projects.
Do take note - the hidden treasures are per instance, shared between all peopel who enter, and only seem to respawn if a new isntance in spawned, so on busy times the competition for them can be quiete fierce.
In my opinion, this event isnt good. Its just grind. And the only thing you would probably grind for is the namazu earring. Grind, remember, if you dont grind enough within the limited timespace, you wont be able to get this event-special item! Btw, im guessing the event ends before early access of 5.0.
The namazu earrings are not worth that deadly of a grind. If anything they should have offered a bonus to healers and tanks that queue up for the dungeons because that is what most of the new players need to get the queues moving faster.
You should get 10-15 for the MSQ dungeons. You can probably run 3 or more of the 4 man dungeons in the time it takes to run 1 MSQ dungeon.
The rewards are WAAAAYY too expensive for how many tokens you get. Seriously, 100 tokens for an earring when a 40 minute run of castrum/praetorium gives 3? Almost every other item on the list except maybe the Diadem stuff can be gotten much more easily just by running the content the item comes from. Square really needs to learn how to balance their incentives. When you make stuff that's ridiculously grindy like this, it doesn't mean people are going to be doing it tons, it means they are more likely to ignore the system entirely because the reward isn't worth the effort required.
With the item prices as they are, the tome payout should be triple what they've listed. 3/6/9 not 1/2/3.
