Love the Deep Dungeon Sprites as well. Very Cool!
I find Gunbreakers to be really... Meh... Not even sure what it's meant to be, other than easy to confuse with Samurais from a distance...
Since the obvious gun image is already taken by Machinist, I'd have gone with something to emphasize the bullet aspect, like a bandolier which I'm fairly certain appears on their AF? A part of its AF worked for Blue Mages job icon, and Summoner/Scholar.
Love them! And I really like the sprites from the deep dungeons too ♥
Think of a revolver's barrel but with a blade cutting it in half.

Nothing seems to line up quite right on the Gunbreaker one.

The whole thing is slightly off-centre, the little points don't line up, and the semi circles don't begin at the same point on the line breaking through the middle.
I like the symbol conceptually, but the execution seems off.
I'm pretty sure it's a barrel being cut in half, not a revolver's magazine.

The icon is pretty abstract, but it's hard to think of what "straightforward" design they could use when Machinst already has the gun icon.
The icon kind of reminds me of Squall's hit animation, to be honest. It's been a long time since I played it, but iirc when Squall hit an enemy there would be a diagonal slash graphic, and if you also pulled the trigger on the gunblade, there would be an added explosion-like effect. The end result being a circular explosion effect with a diagonal slash through the middle of it.
This to me looks like a stylised version of that effect.
True - but as I said, machinist already has a gun with a similar shape to a gunblade as its job icon. You wouldn't be able to easily distinguish them at the size we normally see the icons. (Other than the icon colour, of course, but I can still understand them wanting to do something more distinct.)
Now that they've confirmed it, what exactly IS dnc's icon supposed to be? It can't just be a heart cause ooh dancer pretty I hope.
Seeing the face of a revolver clip could have worked but I kind of like them taking 'gun breaker' and cutting the crosshair in half.
Dancer looks OK I guess it makes sense since chakram won't be their only weapon type.
Dancers icon makes perfect sense when you realize that the job will Kali Ma their enemies and throw their heart right back at them as an attack.
It's their LB3 in fact. Kali Ma the enemy, then dab.
Wouldn't the iconic lion head with a cross have been a better icon. I mean the gun thing is exactly the same as the way it will work with SAM right now.

Also, yeah, what is DNC. I get it looks like a heart but it has to be something more representative. I think maybe it's a fan?
I love symmetry too and the Gunbreaker icon doesn't look that good, it's nothing to be upset though, it's just a small image in-game!...
Gunbreaker's icon is neat though I'm not entirely sure what they were going for. Not a deal breaker though.
Could just be a Thavnairian thing, since we don't know much about them culturally. It's featured prominently on their gear, so I'd think it has some significance.

Depends quite how blatantly they want to lean on FFVIII, I guess! (Not that they're being all that subtle with the collectors edition glamour, and being linked with the "lion race" is probably one big stealth reference.)
But also it might look a bit too similar to DRK, and they'd both be blue icons.
I mean, these symbols are fine.
The way we define the symbology of the Jobs is really a simple matter of familiarity tbh. A few of them are reasonable, like the Staff for WHM or the Harp for BRD. But I tend to confuse SAM's and NIN's because they're relatively similar. And what does Monk's even have to do with the class?
I think the dancer icon is really cute but Im partial to hearts.
Looks like a healer icon to me.
Move over Gunbreaker, cause this icon is a deal breaker. RAGE QUIT!!! Lol.
It seems no matter which alternative we think of we run into the, "looks like another icon" issue. I think it would be easier to digest if we just knew what it was supposed to be, officially.
Monks icon it their iconic weapon in the series, claws. Each icon does have a connection to the jobs they represent, people are just trying to find the connection the new ones have.
Someone pointed out the dancer icon looks like a veiras butt, and it kind of does, but Im not sure if Ill bet banned for porting the comparison here or not lol.
Don't like these icons personally. Other job icons are clearly identifiable as something related to the job, these are much more abstract.
This is what I would have done for Gunbreaker instead

Gunbreaker as Zorro confirmed.
I'll admit I thought that was just a recolored samurai icon for a moment lol. If gunbreaker becomes a high damaging tank this is gonna result in some hilarious red tank dps memes. But I do like the dancer icon. It reminds me of a stylized heart youd see on a pack of cards. The sprites are cute too.
The dancer icon is two people dancing
Dancer one made me think of this.

I really like the DNC one makes me think dancer will be the heart of the party :D GNB though is alright nothing more or less than that for me though will say they missed out on a pun when showing these off as by swapping them around you could call these icons the Heartbreakers :P
