Please remove the cap on poetics

I recently saw the post on reddit regarding increasing the cap of poetics. Which when I saw the response to why it won't be increased I thought well that's not a valid reason at all.

The tidbit I am talking about:

I decided to have a look at what can be bought with poetics that could possibly cause "inflation" and other than materia and maybe Unidentified stuff to trade for topsoil everything seemed kinda meh. Sure you can buy stuff for the relic weapons but you only do those for the collection and not for the actual use of the weapon beyond maybe glamour. From my experience "Inflation" also doesn't work like that. The less there is of something the more value there is to it.

Also materia is thrown around by the buckets. I actually use to hand in materia every week for the Doma hand-ins and I still have a ton of the stuff that I decided to turn my fishing retainer into a materia hoarder (Even have some elemental materia in there for the lols)

Now if they were referring to the other tomestones then yes, I get it and honestly don't mind the cap on those. I just find it really silly to have to go buy something every time I cap poetics just to turn it into GC seals for the sake of buying another few ventures.

tldr; There is no valid reason to have a cap on poetics other than to make me go buy stuff I am never going to use.

Well if SE think it's not necessary to increase then that's it really, there is lots of reasons not to and granted there is reasons to allow it but may as well just get used to it now as it's pretty much one of those caps they are unlikely to change.

Before expansion launch : Can't be bothered to farm ilvl 390 gear for my alt jobs with current Tomes.
After expansion launch : Buy every alt jobs ilvl 390 gear with my 50k poetics.

I think he wants to avoid this kind of situation.

50k is a bit extreme, but if it's all outdated stuff then... why not?

My issue is with doing Anima weapons. It's outdated, it's just for the glamour, but there's a stage that requires you to have 6k poetics.
After sitting on a stack of 2k poetics for months because there's nothing else worth spending them on, it's incredibly frustrating to discover that you suddenly need to farm them. for weeks for one piece of glamour when you could have been gaining them all this time anyway.

4 or 5k seems like a completely reasonable amount, that's not too 'hoardy'.

I think content will be more or less scaled to ilvl385-ish anyway for the start of the expansion and on top of that we also got vendor gear that was fairly close to shire gear when SB dropped granted it wasn't a replacement for shire gear but if you didn't have the poetics then you could always buy some of those.

At the rate at which you can gain poetics it just doesn't make sense to have a cap on them. Now if they decided to not remove the cap but increase it to a reasonable amount then that would be fine. In the long run this honestly doesn't affect a lot of players but it would be more of a QoL change. I'm not saying make things super easy and give me all the loot, what I am saying is try to minimize the the amount of times a player will have to stop what they are doing just to make space for more poetics. In the end of the day the gear you can buy is mainly for leveling purposes these days and the items for relics.

I actually decide to buy items in Iddylshire for my Anima when I grab my WT for the week. You just buy multiples of an item you need (umbrite/clusters, aether oil) and just stock up for it in the future. Actually made my last anima and my current Zeta a breeze since I never had to worry about not having the materials I needed for it.

Even past that you can still buy materials you can use for other things aside from relics so there's no good reason sitting on your poetics for that long nor need 4/5K of them.

It's not just about items currently available. If there were no cap on poetics, they wouldn't be able to use them in future grinds as anyone with a large sum would be able to "skip" the step, defeating the purpose of the grind. I'll take grinding tomes for a relic over Eureka any day.

But poetics are currently only used for past content and it has been that way for some time now. Even for the new crafting recipes some of the items require Mendacity and not poetics. that will be different after the launch of ShB mainly because the gear would be outdated and no one in their right mind would want to spend time crafting a set only to out level it really quickly.

Now granted I didn't take a look at the relic weapons for Heavensward but I can only assume the items needed you had to buy using the current tomes of that time (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). It wouldn't make sense to make current relevant content with the use of poetics in mind as it would essentially just make it trivial due to no weekly cap on it.

Instead of increasing the cap, they can just reduce the costs of items purchased with them (which they have already done in the past).

As much as I would like that I don't really think it accomplishes anything besides making it possible to maybe buy a full set of gear with 2k poetics. I suppose in the end of the day it honestly doesn't matter all that much, I just thought it might be a nice QoL change to not have to deal with it a few times a week.

Older content is always scaled to the highest possible item level for that expansion when new content is released unless they have a stricter sync in place—so some SB content will probably scale down to i310 or i340 because they have that specific sync in place (some of the earlier level 70 dungeons come to mind here), but for things like the 24-mans and the trials/8-mans, they will scale to roughly i405 (Crystal Tower and ARR trials/raids scale to roughly i135 now, and the Mhach raids and HW trials/raids scale to roughly i275).
