Viera Height

Will Viera Height be measured from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet or the top of their ears to the bottom of their feet?

most likely top of head

The bodies are very similar to female Elezen. They are about the same height to the top of the head.

If you're going off of Fran, they're not nearly that tall. From the top of her head, not counting her ears, she's about as tall as a male Midlander. So unless they make the playable Viera taller than her, that's about the height you should anticipate.

Yeah, Fran is rather....average. My male highlander is taller than her, and he's not even max height.

Midlander? What kind of tall midlander?

Edit: That is because even max height midlanders still come below a femroes shoulders, Fran is a bit taller. She's about the height of a min height Elezen woman.

Yeah, was gonna post one of my pics with Fran (Also a max slider Femroe)

At the very least they're gonna be able to be Fran Tall which is midish Elezen. No telling if she herself is max slider for Viera or if they can be taller.

According to this graph, it appears Fran is the same height as a Highlander female. The only questions is if this is their max or min height. I'm going to guess that Fran is at or close to as tall as they get and put them between Hyurs and Elezen.

If they are as small as Hyur midlanders at the lowest height, I’ll be shocked.

It’s the hyur male too, not female. So if you’re looking at female heights as comparison, it would be between the female midlander and female elezen.

The male midlanders are taller than the female, so there is that to consider.

To me, shortness is very feminine, so if it turns out Viera are reasonably short (not too short like auras) then I’ll probably turn my alt into one.

God...I hope the shortest height is actually not that tall...I want to try viera but I can't stand being tall.

I am not used to having a tall character it would be nice if the shortest is playable for me as they look the nicest race so far. I also can use the floppy ears that would make me less tall..i guess we will find out soon. Imagine if you could make a really short one :D

What height is your midlander male set to? Low, middle, or highest? If it turns out Viera’s are just too tall, I unfortunately won’t turn my alt into one and just make my alt stay a short midlander girl.

I really hope they are at least as tall as my Elezen. I love tall characters and I really want my Viera to have legs all up their ass <3

I'm surprised there's so many comments here of people worried about Viera being tall. Their height is one of their defining characteristics in FFXII, with Fran standing at least 1 - 1.5 heads taller than humans in the game (so they actually nailed the height similarity in FFXIV it looks like).

They're essentially "Tall Amazonian Bunny People". Which is good. We need a popular tall race. The taller the better IMO. It's what I've expected all along.

viera will most likely match elezen. Fran stand about the same as my mid height elezen There meant to be tall and elegant. We have enough smol and medium races let the tall queens have some limelight

No argument there. They probably won't be as girly as Midlanders, but I do think they will be the most elegant by far, which I believe is more attributed to femininity than height.

Highest height i could make him, at least at the time i created him, which was back when ARR first launched.

What I had read, Viera are expected to be near if no taller then Elezan who are just shy of Roe while Hrothgar are expected to be taller then Roes. Hrothgar are expected to be the tallest race but won't show well because of their hunched backs.

I fear we cannot really base Viera height off Fran though.

Fran has a demihuman model iirc, and if they tried to set it close to what Viera height will be, is it max, min, mid or what?

They aren't giantess but I'd expect a female Highander-Elezen average height.

Uh...nah, I’m good. It seems like Viera’s are too tall for my liking if his male midlander is on the highest height setting. For all we know, Fran is on middle height settings. What a shame. Was hoping we would get another short girl race, like Midlanders or AuRas. (Lalafells are TOO short, lol.)

Female midlanders lowest height is around 5’0 - 5’1 I believe. I’m sorry, I was never one to find tallness to be very feminine on female characters in general. If Midlanders were too tall, I wouldn’t be one, period. If Vieras are around 5’5, that’ll be okay, but the closer to 5’1 the better. So I’ll probably stay a midlander girl. :)

In what world would people think anything other than Feol viera would be super short? They were all fairly tall back in XII, around Elezen height at least if not a bit more. Given the viera are only split into Rava and Veena, it's expected for them to also be tall.

Our chance for smaller bunny people was gone the moment the clans were just made palette swaps of each other like Miqo'te and Au Ra are.

Interesting how a thread about whether or not Viera height would be measured from the top of the head or top of the ears became about how tall they will be.

I'm guessing Viera will be about as tall or maybe slightly sorter than Elezen, but their ears will make them look taller.

For some reason I had this idea that lore characters in game were frequently taller than what is possible to achieve for player characters... but I might be confusing it with another game.

Fran is only slightly shorter than my female elezen, who is at max height. Another said she's about as tall as their mid height female elezen. Most NPCs, even including the major ones, are at the 50 mid (default) height. Further since Fran's an early Viera model, its even more likely she's at the mid (default) height. This makes Viera around female elezen height. Even the smallest female elezen is taller than the tallest midlander.

Fran's model is just ripped straight from FFXII and not made using the character creation tools in XIV at all. That doesn't mean it can't be used at all though - it is reasonable to expect that if Viera were tall before they will still be tall now, and her overall height probably fits right in the range for the eventual character creation version.

i wish ppl would stop saying this. frans model is not ripped, the hands and feet are different. its close in most other respects yes, but this is a custom model.

^ what the femroe said. FFXIV Frans eyebrows, eye colour, ears etc are slightly different from the FF12 model. FF14 Fran has shorter ears :p

I don’t understand. That model isn’t actually from FFXIV files? Then why are people comparing races with something not made from the character creator? Makes no logical sense at all. We will know for sure when the benchmark is out then I guess.

Fran uses the customised demihuman FFXIV model they use for everyone/everything that doesn't have a specific model.

The word "tall" is not very clear. Fran might've been tall in FFXII where a tall character like Basch was more or less the same height as her but they still have a pretty human range. In FFXIV we have some giants making "tall" quite relative.

It's speculation driven by curiosity, nothing harmful

Fran is a custom model for FFXIV, but we can reasonably assume they set her height to be in the range the actual Viera will have in character creation, and I would guess she's at or near the top end that will be available.

Yea, I was weirded out when I saw her because I expected her to be......taller.

If you look at the height slider in character creation, you can see that Elezen females can go a bit past that at max height.

If you watch the Viera reveal video, there seems to be a decent level of height variation in the sample of character models shown. Maybe Viera will have a wider range than other races?
