Increase poetic's cap

I think it would be a good idea to increase poetics cap to 5k or 10k. The only time I personally use them is when I level a character and hit 50 or 60 and I want to buy the whole set. Only problem is you need like 4k to buy full set + augments + accessories + weapon. I would rather like to do that in one go instead of using 2k then go cap again to get the rest of the gear I want. Or am I just crazy for thinking increasing the cap is a good idea? What would make it a bad idea?

I think 4k would be a good number
just double what we have now

soon have 3 different areas that will use poetics so don't see why it would be a problem to increase the cap

Shouldn't be any design reason the poetics cap couldn't be raised. There should still be one, but yeah it doesn't need to be 2000.

There's no reason to cap at 2000 anymore.
Not only is it all outdated stuff, but its three expansions worth of outdated stuff.
Even 4000 would be nice.

Chill out. People aren't asking to buy more or have more given to them, just to be able to hold more. With how much they can be used to purchase, 2000 isn't actually very much.

Yes please! It feels like I'm constantly at cap, even with buying full sets of 60 gear for every class I'm leveling right now (which is almost all of them) and trying to spend them whenever I realize I'm at cap. I've probably had hundreds if not thousands of poetics fall on the floor because I didn't realize I'd already hit 2k again...

Oh, gods, yes. Especially that new jobs start 20 levels below the cap so that's 2 expansions worth of poetics gear you have to buy if you weren't saving up (I still need to re-farm Alexander for aiming gear for DNC)

Mostly for the oddballs who don’t have the latest expansion.

For everyone else I don’t see why it matters either way. You tend to level so fast that old tome gear winds up becoming obsolete after a few hours anyway. And there’s nothing preventing you from buying the sets piecemeal ahead of time if you know you might be leveling something new in the future.

I've deliberately allowed them to stay capped from time to time when plowing through roulettes because I just couldn't be bothered. I typically do a currency check before queueing into content and would get frustrated to see that they were capped yet again. So before I can queue, I'm off to IIdylshire to get more grade 3 soil for the gardens. It just gets a bit tedious after a while. I definitely wouldn't mind if they at least doubled the cap. Hell, even 3k would be nice.

I just turn them all in for demicrystals for vendor trash when I go to pick up a new copy of Wondrous Tails. Already got a full set of Augmented Shire gear for Gunbreaker.

In my case, anima weapons.
Having sat on 2000 poetics for months, Ive just decided to go back and complete a new Anima weapon, which requires thousands of poetics.

Yeah, I already have all the shire gear I could ever want for any class I'm leveling, including the ones that aren't even 50 yet. I could easily have it all augmented well before I need it, cap or no, and this is all after augmenting the monk gear, buying the monk/caster/tank sets, and getting all the way up to the last step of the anima questline. All the cap does is send me running back to the vendors more often than I would otherwise. :P

I wonder if they are going to keep the poetics vendor working the same way in the new expansion as it does now. At some point there is going to be too much crap to list.

There shouldn’t really be a cap especially since it’s used for not only gear but items needed for older relics. If they must cap them I think I needs to be 6k or higher so people who want to do older relics don’t have to slog a grind for old currency. Idk

Since there seems to be so much support for this what would be a good way to bring this to SE's attention?

I would love this. I have all Ironworks sets augmented and all weapons. All Shire sets augmented and all weapons. Even for classes I don't even play. Just because I can't stand the red warning when you're capped. And it happens a lot.

I spend my poetics on dirt now. Doesn't help when I forget to do it before hitting roulettes or such.

I often sit at 2000 poetic for weeks on end... then I go to level a job and finally hit 50 and buy gear.

There's nothing that you can buy with poetics to really make that worth it. Outside of bulk purchases anyways.
What item would benefit from having a higher cap? The way I see it, all increasing it would do is people would sit at 4k all the time instead of 2k.

6000 should be the right number for me, I agree the cap is too low

Good necro bump. Increase the poetics cap.

There's no need for a higher cap since there is no one item that costs the current cap.

Spend them as you earn them. If you have nothing to spend them on, then having a higher cap doesn't accomplish anything.

Sometimes I randomly decide to start working on an old Heavensward relic and having a ton of extra poetics would make that faster, or being able to get multiple parts of a Manderville relic at once would be nice (but not necessary)

Honestly, I'd rather them increase the weekly cap on the most recent tomestone 4-6 months after it comes out instead of only at the very end of the expansion.

For one moment, think of aesthetics. f there was a higher cap (or a cap so high it might as well be near infinite), players would stock up on those at some point and stop flooding the economy with aesthetics-purchased items. So items will plummet in value soon once the demand for DoW/M level 100 crafted gear diminishes. At that point, players would just stockpile tens of thousands of those. And then when the next tier comes out in 7.2, they'd flood the market entirely.

Does this apply to poetics? Somewhat. There are items in Poetics(Other) that are tradeable. If the cap was unlimited, these items would rarely be purchased and placed on the market. Many of these items have limited value right now of course. However, is the value limited because people cap at 2000 and need to spend them on something which adds supply to the MB for this stuff?

What about roulettes that reward poetics to players? What if they have 100,000 poetics and never need poetics ever again? Maybe they'll stop running certain roulettes making it more difficult for other players to complete those dungeons?

I think a cap of 4000 is reasonable without making a negative impact anywhere. If I recall, a set of old content augmented tomestone gear costs 4055. It would be nice if poetics capped near that number. Maybe that would be arbitrary though.
