Thank you!
Yes, thank you Dev team! The fact you guys took the time with such a short crunch to make sure the two new races could at least equip 540 head items is, in fact, amazing. Plus, the rest of ShB is looking amazing and I can't wait to see the new world you came up with!
Despite it's flaws I'm grateful this game as it has kept me loving it for almost 6 years now.
Says the person attacking someone for posting a rare positive thread.
Also we use those words because it's literally the only way to describe the incoherent dribble that people spew out of what I'm assuming is their mouths about everything they don't like.
I do hope the dev team and the asset team in particular can take a nice long break after the expansion dropped. They all deserve it.
Don't let the naysayer derail the thread please. We're not here to entertain them.
LiteBrite randomly comes out of the woodwork once in a while to attack and bash people who are enjoying the game and are complimenting the devs. I've seen it happen multiple times now. The best pesticide for people like them is to ignore them and don't let them derail. And with that, I'll not say another word about them.
Back on topic: I feel like alot of people seem to forget that the devs aren't just making two races and two classes. There's a whole entire expansion they're working their butts off to give to us and I for one am extremely excited to see what comes next.
....man I miss white knight chronicles...
I won't really speak on the races, but I'm also glad that they decided to do just two jobs. Considering that only 1 of the 3 HW jobs was actually decent at launch, I'd rather have two fleshed-out jobs instead of 3 rushed ones after a mid-expansion release job (that has been meta ever since).
Thank you Yoshi for being honest with the player base. Being a player that quit WoW due to a lack of honesty from the Lead Developer in charge of the content for WoW it is very much appreciated to see an honest response in regards to the discussions being had on the forums.
Thank you to the developers who spent their own personal time to ensure quality of content for the player base when they could have just as easily not. Again, being a player that comes from WoW its very much appreciated to see a dedicated group of developers adding to the content of FFXIV, when it would be just as easy for them to reskin a current race like WoW had for its 'Allied Races' and then not deliver on their own time table for their new races like the Zandalari and Kul'Tiran.
Thanks again Devs team and Director for working that hard and spare of your free time to please players.
Sorry I could not find the Retsuko like gif without the wink:

Thanks dev team!!
Here's a message from Yoshi P to some haters

Despite what gripes I have, I would also like to chime in about the work the devs put in. The fact that instead of releasing races that couldn't wear headgear, like it seemed would be the case, they took the extra time to make sure the models were fully functional so that people could still maintain quality of glamour freedom is beyond what many other dev teams would do these days. Dev teams suffer from a lot of "Deal with it" syndrome, and the fact that this game's dev team rises above that kind of thing repeatedly speaks for itself.
I appreciate all the hard work the devs do. While I may want more dungeons, two genders per race, etc etc I do think they work way to hard and at some point they are going to have to start spreading the patches / expansions out. I would be ok with this cause the Devs are people to. I will also say that while I appreciate the hard work, I question the decisions of the choices made that made them do the hard work. (Mean I think they should have just done one race.)
That's kind of you to bring this thread about.
I would like to thank them too. They work late hours and will continue even after launch making those necessary tweaks just so the game runs smoothly for us. So don't think we don't notice even the smallest of things you do. We do!! (Well most of us do)
I will admit i got a tad misty-eyed when i found out that the dev team took time out of their daily lives, which includes time spent with their families and time to de-stress from work to bring us head options for the 2 new races. This is why this is my favorite and only MMO, the passion and care the development team has for this game is truly a sight to behold. You guys are truly all about the community and maintaining a stellar product, Thank you for all the hard work you do. It's appreciated more than you know.
I’m thankful for all the hardworking devs we have working on this game, please keep up the good work!
Here is my personal, monthly "dev team appreciation":

I am the guy that tips the Kebab guy for making the best Döner in town.
I am the guy that smiles to the most grumpy casher on this planet.
I greet the bus driver when I enter the bus.
But seriously, I will not jump on these threads. Every year, I (mathematically) pay 155,88€ (or US$175) per year. That are more than two full-price AAA titles, with all the story, content, engine, sound effects, script FROM SCRATCH.
Here, I do pay this for getting small updates with the vast majority of the needed parts of a video game already in place (read as: They don't need to sit down and get the game engine running - it already does!) AND are paying for every expansion.
And then, there is the "optional"* cash shop.
Sorry, but we are grateful enough by simply enjoying their game. I do. I have a blast. Thinking about being on duty with my Red Mage Lalafell sweetens up my early shift at 6 a.m.
But please stop these threads like this and others like "Yoshi P. does not have an infinity glove". The developers do not read these boards. They are absolutely fine, you don't need to jump into their defense like social justice warriors do. It's a business, we enjoy and thus pay for it A LOT and then we have a perfect relationship.
* There should not be a cash shop. That is like renting a hotel room and locking up the shower with a coin-operated lock. The hotel manager just says "Well, the shower is optional as you have the sink and a washcloth there". Would you think that is reasonable?
I am not here to forbid anyone's opinion, but I feel a bit helpless amongst all these people that jump onto other views on that matter with "R U A GAIM DESIGNERS URSELF?? NO!! THEN UNINSTALL GAIM NOW IF U H8 IT!". I am 28 years "old", and here are people surpassing that a lot. I wonder if all these people behave like that in every establishment, at every fast food restaurant. I really don't think so. I call this hypocrisy.
Oh yeah, maintaining servers and a few support staff does not justify those 13€. Not even remotely.
Sincerely,

As a 35 year old adult if I don’t like the food/service at a place I’ll simply go somewhere else and not create drama and make a scene at said establishment where people are enjoying their meals and act like my issue is the end of the world. If people weren’t so melodramatic/hyperbolic and type out walls of text about how this is the worst MMO ever and the dev team sucks and the game is dying whenever they present their issues the forums would be a much better place we actual civil conversation to happen.
And the devs actually do reads these boards and at times Yoshi P replies to threads.
By the same token, if the developers do not read these boards, can we stop the endless barrage of threads asking (if not demanding) that they add/fix/change/remove whatever that poster is unhappy with?
(And not discuss male Viera and female Hrothgar every day from here to 7.0 when they finally scrape the budget together to do it. Yes I want to see them in the game, but there is an overload point where I'm just tired of hearing about it all the time. I'm at that point, and all the arguments for and against it have been said. There is nothing left but repetition ad nauseum - and if the devs aren't listening here, then it's not achieving anything at all.)
Positive posts feel sadly rare here. The amount of negativity on the forums is simply tiring to sift through.
The cash shop is not a core service. It's not the shower, it's the mini-bar. You don't need anything in it, however nice it might be. If you have a specific craving for whatever is in there, you can weigh up against the price and take it if you decide it's worth it.
There are so many nice costumes and mounts within the game anyway.
Not to say I don't think the cash shop is overpriced - I stare longingly at it often enough, and only very occasionally crack and buy pretty $18 outfits that I'm certain I'll make good use of... but still. Your argument is that it isn't really optional, and I disagree. It would be nice if they lowered the prices and aimed their price structure at more people buying more items, but that has nothing to do with them being required.
Nothing else to say here.
Thank. You. Very. Much. For. All. The. Hard. Work. You. Do.
Thank you!
Giving credit where it's due: To the workers who took their personal time to make the 500something head pieces for Hrothgar/Viera: ya did good. Well done.
It's not ass kissing or groveling. I was raised to call what is bad, bad and what is good, good. If, as humans, we cannot even give credit where it's due, then we've failed as a society.
Yeah constant negative criticism without anything positive can lead to depression even suicide, that’s why some of us are trying to counter the extreme negativity with some positive posts. The devs are human too, let’s treat them as such.
I might not agree with all that has happened to this game but without the devs, this game wouldn't tick the way that it does! To think that they actually took time out of their already busy schedule to give us a bit more is simply fantastic and shows their extreme dedication and passion for this game. While I am still a bit disappointed with the gender locked races, the screenshots from the Live Letter are simply gorgeous and I cannot wait to see both races fully in motion and to see how they rock current/new glam. Cheers to the devs! :)
Been playing since 1.0 and have been paying a sub even during the times I'm not always on playing. I think the Devs are doing a great job.
Here's where I'm going to stop you. You need to change that mentality. The monthly sub you're paying is for the use of the game's service for 30 days. If you think that your use of the service for these 30 days is not worth the monthly amount you pay, then why did you continue to pay for it? It doesn't matter if you paid 100,000$ a year or 10$ a year.
Just to give you a small example, an engineering software called Abaqus, that is used for researching and development, costs hundreds of thousands per year just to lease it (you don't even buy it). That's a lot more than other similar software like the ones you get from Autodesk. But why do some universities pay for it? Because the research they publish and conduct using Abaqus justifies the amount they're paying for it.
So the question for FFXIV's case would be "Is the service you're receiving worth the amount you're paying for it?". If yes, then good. If no, then why are you still paying?
I want to give a big thanks to the devs for making this game. It changed my life and encouraged me to socialize with others from time to time.
I also appreciate the difficulty and rewards of the EX trials, especially Sophia EX. It helped me improve my player skills and and I get to travel in the open world with some cool looking mounts.
I'll do my best to help others and make their experience of FFXIV as decent as possible. At the end of the day, if I can do my part to make a different in someone's life for this game, I'll be satisfied.
Love this game! Thank you! *bow*
I'm glad more people are thankful to the devs. They always seem to be working very hard, yet not everyone can appreciate the amount of work behind everything they do.
Thank you for such a wonderful game, devs! I hope you get all the rest you deserve ;_;
Coming from wow this dev team is amazing
so much more care and interaction with their playerbase than the lawyer in charge of wow these days, i appreciate you guys so much! Yoshi P is the best.
I would like to thank the Dev Team for doing their best to continue to produce fantastic content that not only stays true to their visions but also caters to their audience. There are millions of people who play this game with millions of different opinions and at the end of the day the choices they make are based on what they feel will be best for the game, for better or worse. I hope that one day other games from the franchise will slow down on sponging away the FFXIV budget so that they can have a larger department and be able to do more with what they have, but I am grateful for what we have gotten and continue to get. Thank you so much!
