We do have a button to hide the HUD, I use it for taking screenshots sometimes, or when I am on a mount flying somewhere scenic.
IIRC it is the Scroll Lock button.
dynamic HUD is you chose certain information to be hide automatic when you just casual going around, do craft or stuff, but immediately show up when you enter the battle without a need to press any button, thing like hot bar, crosshot bar, job gauce or your HP can be hide this way since they are not need outside of the battle, in this game we only have an option to complete hide them or leave them there on the screen
L1+Pressing the touch pad on ps4 will give the desired effects.
I personally thought of it some time ago, and made a rework on all of my UI.
I've made a macro for when I press Z it unsheathes the weapon and shows the actions.
I would like to hide the Job Gauge too, but it's impossible.

This is the macro for the ones who get the idea:
/macrolock
/battlemode
/hotbar display 1
/hotbar display 2
/hotbar display 3
/hotbar display 4
/hotbar display 5
/hotbar display 6 off
/hotbar display 7
/hud Param
/hud DutyList
Then add Z to some Hotbar key and hide it. Ex: Hotbar 9.
I think OP would like the option to auto-hide various hotbars when you enter combat then have them auto-show when you leave combat. It would be great to hide those bars you have with buttons to change jobs, you know the ones that you can't use while in combat anyways.
Can't you just set up multiple hud layouts? It's an option right there in the HUD layout!
Then just use /hudlayout 2 or /hudlayout 4 etc
I already use the command in macros that I use to change classes... Like I said, I don't have enough HUD layouts anyways.
Also why do people argue against things like this? It's like "hey I won't use this so it shouldn't be in the game. I don't care if others want it either" excuse.
I can only speak for ps4 but we can hide the X bar so it only shows up when engaged in combat. Maybe pc has same thing?
Ah, like back then with PS1/Gamecube games where you only get your health bar displayed when you get hit/pick up health?
That would be nice indeed. Why would the game show your EXP bar when you reach the limit, or displaying the chat when nothing has moved there for, let's say, 10 minutes? The healthbar over our heads already disappear when at 100% (healthy), so the game can surely do that internally already, the features are just not expanded.
